  1. I don't care if he was a homer, he was our homer. https://sportsmockery.com/2018/10/the-south-side-of-chicago-will-never-forget-the-legacy-of-the-hawk/
  2. Some of the comments on Facebook are predictable, but some are hilarious. People love fighting about this stuff. Cubs vs. White Sox
  3. I'm going to write a more "coming back to reality" piece, but I think this still holds water. The rebuild will take some time. Paint It Black: The Rise of the White Sox
  4. Folks - keep it about baseball, not your political beefs. That's what arguing on Facebook is for. Also, as far-fetched as the concept is, it's a fantastic ploy - if it was a reality, that gives people reason to take interest in the team on a variety of levels. This isn't just some rich guy buying in to stroke his inflated ego, it's a die hard fan, who happened to be president supporting culture and doing what most dream of. If that isn't a mile marker of what you'd want to see in ownership, you might want to re-consider your opinions on what's best for the team in the long run.
  5. I wrote a new piece about the general feeling of White Sox fans as the offseason work is slowly churning. Hope some of you enjoy it. http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/11/w...-the-sox-go-in/
  6. Hey folks, I'm thinking about a follow up article to my Sox vs. Cubs WS piece - that is, if Soxnet wants it. Anyhow, I have an idea on my mind about what the fan base wants vs. what we're perceived to want: do we want a complete teardown or should we retool? I have my own opinions, which will go into the piece, but I'd love to hear whatever you've got on your mind regarding the team of the future. Thanks!
  7. Thanks for all of the positive feedback. I also appreciate all of the people who are sharing and tweeting the article, as well. I hope to get the chance to do some further editorializing on the White Sox in the future. I've always had a desire to write more about them, their moves, and the culture of the fans.
  8. Tried to keep it as honest as I could: http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/11/w...g-for-the-cubs/
  9. I don't have a blog. I only pickup freelance work when I'm looking to make extra money with a corp gig, or when I have an article in mind I'd like to write. My day job I'm content manager/head writer for a big tech company, as well as write books for a living. When I do journalism stuff, it's more of a passion play. I miss doing it. A lot of us got out of journalism because there's little money in it anymore.
  10. Sure, we pitch articles all the time. Most sites have a stable of writers as their go-to's, but most editors will field pitches if they're content/subject relevant. I've pitched stories to Tech Crunch, Forbes, etc. I've had them all published, too. It's how the gig works. It's not like we're making bank anymore due to the whole world of 24/7 everything - there's a lot of noise in the spaces. I figured with almost no opinion pieces regarding the White Sox POV happening, that it would be a slam dunk in terms of acceptability, but it wasn't, and honestly, that was sucky.
  11. The blog may be happening. One thing about sports media is, when it comes to the White Sox, they're not jumping at the bit to get content. It's ridiculous. I couldn't get a response from Deadspin, Sports Mockery, or SB Nation's South Side Sox. I'm an accredited journalist, and published author, not some dude offering an opinion that's full of tired cliches. As a professional this experience has been eye opening due to the lack of interest on almost everyone's part. I saw one sort of relevant topic over on Yahoo, but even that, was a big MEH. I'm hoping this piece can find a home with Soxnet. It's about time someone gave us a platform.
  12. Hey folks, Long time lurker. This is the place I go to get all of my White Sox gossip and opinions, so keep up the awesome work. Anyhow, I'm a writer and I just wrote an essay about being a White Sox fan during this whole Cubsmania ordeal. I originally pitched to Sports Mockery but have yet to hear back, despite them posting a plenty of Cubs-related pieces. I reached out to Deadspin and am waiting on them, too. But, I'd love to get the piece some traction on a White Sox blog, Facebook page, etc. If you know of any you enjoy, or look to as a source of truth, or run one - please let me know. Thanks!
  13. Grew up in the neighborhood. Could watch the fireworks from the front porch. That Soundtrack of summer would anyone grow up wanting to be like the guys on the field.
  14. Mindf**k Chicago and hire Ryne Sandberg. Buddy Bell as manager makes me want to not watch Sox games.
  15. For metal with a taste of grind it's decent, the whack vocals that get all singy ruin it. This kind of music is awful, and that's coming from someone who likes metal, death meta, etc.
  16. You guys argue about all the arbitrary things you like, I'm just glad he's in black and white. If he's making a few pitchers s*** their pants in fear which equals him getting on base or Konerko getting an easy pitch, then his purpose is served. His measly 4 million is worth the gamble and if it pays off, we'll be sipping the good stuff like we did 5 years ago. I've said it all year, ALCS is gonna be us against the evil empire (Yankees) and if we do, in fact, get that far, let's celebrate that our team had the balls to get there and it took Manny to put us over the top. Worst case, we're not in Pittsburgh or the Northside. We're not built to win over the long haul but, let's have some fun while we've got a few guys still mashing the ball and getting some serious ugly strikes called.
  17. White Sox are old school. Classy move letting it happen so soon.
  18. For two weekends in a row I've had to sit and watch both of their weekend series games while I watch the White Sox on the computer. Stupid national appeal.
  19. Beating up on terrible NL Central teams isn't exactly setting any kind of records here. Let's see them beat up on the Twins and like teams, then I'll start seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
  20. I keep trying to find the game but the damn Red Sox are on. WTF
  21. Honestly, aside from Baseball, my friends and family and the food, I don't miss a thing about living in Chicago. I LOVE living here. I have a great career and a fantastic life.
