AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
The Sox have met my preseason predicition of 71 victories.

Old Sox T-Shirts?
Yeah, I saw them being sold in two versions: one that said Sox, one that said Cubs. By the same vendor, an elderly Asian woman.

Old Sox T-Shirts?
He might have had it customized. That's how I got my Damaso Marte jersey shirt, and I've seen Willie Harris ones too. Also, in 1999 I remember seeing "Top 3 Chicago Disasters: - Da Fire, Da Flood, Da Cubs"

Everett's groin strain
When Ozzie says somebody will be rested for the series, he means for the whole series and probably the first 2 games of the next series too. And Pods has been terrible lately. How many of his CS were in the last few games?

Rules Question
What I'm curious about is this. You're allowed to take out the catcher more than you're allowed to take out other fielders because he basically wears armor. But on that play, the pitcher was covering home plate. Would Rollins have been allowed to take him out with the full force available to him? Edit: Pretend it wasn't a force.

Who is the most underrated player of all time?
I think what the Hank/Robinson people are trying to get at is that these people are appreciated for just one thing (Hank for his homers, Robinson for breaking the color barrier) when really there's a lot more they should be remembered for. We remember them as one-dimensional players, when, in reality, they were anything but.

Help SAVE one of the BEST Logo's in sports
Given 1) The trend towards retro and 2) The sheer number of times I see that logo everytime I visit Miller Park I don't think it needs to be "saved" at all. Its as alive and well as any other throwback logo, and I think fans of other teams recognize its awesomeness.

Metrodome has Mice
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/photo?slug=mpd..._mpd109&prov=ap Saarlos apparently found a mouse in left field. According to the caption, he carried it on his cap and released it into the stands. I'm sure the fans nearby appreciated it. But it's such a cute little Mouse. Too bad its probably a Twins fan.

10 games up on the rest of the AL
We had home field in 2000 too. The only statistic we need to worry about is how many games back Oakland is of the WC. Because if they win it, it's game-over for us.

Bryan Dolgin
One other reason Dolgin should stay: Ed and John's new routine where they speculate about whether or not certain foul balls could have been caught by Dolgin, with the net or otherwise.

Takatsu is released!
This is Shingo Takatsu's legacy to me. Here's a guy in his late 30's, when he should have been thinking about retirement, he instead thought "Eh, I'll play a few years in America." So he came to America, and despite a horrible Spring Training, makes the team. Promptly, he becomes more than just a man. He becomes a phenomenon. When that video came on, when that gong went off, the entire stadium stood up. Standing ovations of the type I haven't seen even for home runs. And that was before he even got a single out. Hidden perfect game, save after save, the results piled up. You want to know the most beautiful moment of the 2004 season for me? July 24, 2004. Shingotime shuts down the Tigers for the last White Sox win before their final slide. On my way down to the parking lot, I see this little kid. He's maybe 10 years old. This kid had taken a white undershirt and, with a magic marker, wrote "Takatsu" and "10" on the back. That's the beauty of baseball. Shingo Takatsu will always have a special place in my heart.

Monday Matinee Game Thread 8-1-05
TIMO PEREZ knows how to retaliate. Stuff it, Timo haters.

I still don't understand how a free baserunner is considered "retaliation".

Bryan Dolgin
If its true that Bryan won't be held over at the Score, I'm disappointed. It will be a shame that he was never given the chance to further grow into that post-game role. I think he struggled at first (remember that caller who asked him what Frank Thomas swung in the on-deck circle? Dolgin clearly had no clue what the caller was talking about, and embarassed himself mightily before the caller said it was a piece of Old Comiskey). The one thing that still gets me is when he feels the need to justify his Sox fanness by saying that he and his brother were at Big Frank's debut in Milwaukee...a story I've heard a few times too many after games this year. Personally, I believe he's a Sox fan, and I don't need to hear that story over and over again. Dolgin also brings a younger face to the game; I think his hip-hop lingo is a perfect combination with the more old-tyme Rooney and Farmer. Also, anyone notices that he saids "White Sox and <other team> coming up....right now". Always "right now" rather than NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEXT. I'll miss him.

Timo has the same number of RBIs today as the Orioles do. He'd be like, a third place team in the NL West by himself.

Since the HBP was apparently for Iguchi running with a 5-1 lead, I say we send anyone and everyone who gets on first base with the second bag open.

The best retaliation? SCORE THAT RUN.

STOP BEING BORING
Jose Valentin's son is named Yomar. He's no longer on the team, but that still intrigues me.

Sporting Memorabilia Show
Really. I would never have guessed. Did he autograph so many of them that they're more common than non-autographed ones? Or is the card community just hardcore about not having markings?

Sporting Memorabilia Show
Well, isn't that a complete shock!

Score Reporting
We've already played the Cubs this year. This trade is worthless.

Uribe's new home run trot
So, what you're saying is that eventually that "Smokin hot chick" thread will die, or at least fall off the first page for some parts of the day?

How do you watch the games?
I listen to Ed and John. But, sometimes, when one of them says that an opposing pitcher has a really peculiar motion or one of the opposing batters has an interesting stance, I'll go to the other room and briefly turn on the TV to see what they're talking about. Hawk and DJ just don't give me enough, because they know that I'm seeing everything on TV. There are times when there's a pitch and they don't even say anything about it, because everyone watching them saw exactly where it was located and what the umpire's call was. Ed and John are, on the other hand, a consistent stream of information, which I find enriching.

Uribe's new home run trot
OK, I did some research, and have come back with mixed results. In this picture, her face seems fine. But here, I can see where you're coming from: Perhaps she aged inbetween the two pictures? If so, then it's understandable. If not, well, at least we know that proper lighting/makeup can make her face look good.

Unis...
Esteban Loaiza was the reason we saw that uniform so much over the past two years. He's with a different ballclub now.
