They made the World Series. Not many other Sox teams can say that.
-
His high school team all wore their caps like that. He's just having fond memories of good times with his friends during his formative years.

Iassogna called a BS strike zone against us one time in early 2004. He's also the ump I heckled while at a Cardinals game in St. Louis. Bad, bad move. I got funny looks the rest of the game as they tried to figure out what I did. That's a fine team, a fine stadium, but a Stepford Wives fan base.

He also did this at Wrigley Field in 2004, while wearing his World Series ring.

Yanks angry at Showalter for pulling stars vs. Ang
Antonio Osuna replied to redandwhite's topic in The Diamond Club
As Ed Farmer would say, when you're the man who invented baseball, you have a right to do that. Then Rooney would ask if Buck was still wearing his jacket now that the season is over. Farmer would say that he still is. -
Statistically how to beat Manny and Ortiz
Antonio Osuna replied to joeynach's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Only fools underestimate Wakefield. Historically (and this has been less true in 2005 than before, but still is) there are two types of pitchers that give us fits: 1) guys making their MLB debut or who we haven't seen before 2) older guys who throw junk We beat Wakefield at home this season, but he's given us fits before. And he absolutely is a "big game pitcher" in that he's better when it counts. Also, Clement's postseason ERA is, iirc, entirely from 2003. He's improved since then. -
I'm ditching class and derelicting my duties as an officer of the Quiz Bowl team to get to Game 1. I was supposed to spend the afternoon filing paperwork to get the university to pay for our plane tickets to a tournament in California. That's somebody else's problem now.

Bush's nomination for Supreme Court announced
Antonio Osuna replied to southsider2k5's topic in SLaM
A conservative would, of course, disagree. That's why I would have used the examples of Rehnquist, Warren, and Marshall. If you don't like at least one of them, then please report to a Political Science department near you to be extensively studied. -
Remember, the media is always biased against your side.

Bush's nomination for Supreme Court announced
Antonio Osuna replied to southsider2k5's topic in SLaM
Its extremely common for Supreme Court justices to have no previous judicial experience. I'm virtually certain that Jay, Ellsworth, and Marshall (#'s 1, 3, and 4) had zero judicial experience. #2, Rutledge, had only his stint as an Associate Justice (which he had without prior judicial experience) Roger Taney was Attorney General and Treasury Secretary. Salmon Chase was also the Treasury Secretary. It wasn't until the 1870's when we had a Chief Justice who actually had a law degree. Earl Warren had no judicial experience and got the Chief Justice spot as part of a political deal. Does this mean that we should hail Miers? No. But I think it certainly nullifies "no judicial experience" as a useful attack. -
Good heavens no. We don't need somebody who will yell about how this isn't Reinsdorf's fault after each dropped fly ball or bad at-bat. I'd personally like to see Farmer-DJ, with DJ as PBP, but since Farmer is being "promoted" that won't happen. Kittle would be interesting.

Game 1 I got obstructed view seating behind the right field foul pole. Game 2 I got back row of the lower deck somewhere by the left field foul pole (in foul territory). The seats suck, but I don't care. As long as I'm inside the ballpark, its all good.

Let's actually win an ALDS game before dissing it, eh?
-
I don't really mind it. I think his reason for doing it (tribute to his high school team) is legit.

The Reds GM is going to have what he thinks is the last laugh when we get swept out of the playoffs for lack of offensive production. Thing is, he's going to be laughing from the perpetual last place that he helped put his team into. That's not much of a laugh.

By Thursday we'll know whether or not we should bother buying these. How convenient.

See, the point is not to bring in somebody who will hit Anderson and give up a longball to Finley, but rather to bring in somebody who can get them out. El Duque was good out of the bullpen yesterday. I hope that was a successful audition for the playoff roster.

I played in High School and I play collegiately now for the University of Chicago. We won the Div II (novice player) national titles in both ACF and NAQT last year. There are a lot of Sox fans in the college game. Most of the Chicago players are, as are the UIUC guys. Those are two of the game's powerhouses.

I've been fortunate enough to be able to say that nobody I personally know or am related to passed away in the past year. I'm about to take this thread into a non-familial direction, and I hope that its OK with you guys. About a month ago, there was a motorcycle crash a few blocks from where I live. There was a young man killed in the crash; I never met him, but as I passed by the makeshift memorial that his friends and family established at the scene of the crash, I noticed that a lot of people had left White Sox gear there. It was pretty obvious what his favorite team was and that this team was probably a major part of his life. I'm dedicating this division championship to him.

AND THATS A KNIGHTS WINNER!!!!!!!!&
Antonio Osuna replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Strategically, we probably want to drop 2/3 to the Indians and hope that Boston takes 2/3 from NNY. That way we guarentee that whoever we face in the ALDS will have at least one starter already used -- and 2 starters if its NNY or BOS. Of course, Boston might not comply and might sweep or lose 2/3. -
Looks like one of those deals with the devil where you're not specific enough and get burned. "Souls for 30 straight division wins? Sure, we're bound to win a bunch of World Series in that stretch." Its like in 2002, Barry Bonds started the season saying "I want to go to the World Series." After the WS ended, he told the media "I guess I should have said win the World Series instead", or something to that effect. I'm not a Bonds fan at all, but he was surprisingly good-natured when he said that.

I think (hope?) that if this were an actual playoff game, Marte wouldn't have stayed in. And, of course, the starting lineup would have been different. -
Tropicana Field was built for the White Sox.
