  1. I guess they've forgiven us for sending them Billy Koch. Anyway, the Marlins have a special place in my heart. A lot of it, of course, has to do with the events of October 2003. But they've also played two home games at US Cellular Field, both of which I attended, and I talked with a lot of Marlins fans (and one Marlins manager) at those games, they were cool guys. The ones I know online, for the most part, also are.
  2. Red Sox seem to be the least hot right now. The Angels will kill us if we ever have to play them. The moment we have to face them, its over.
  3. Gameday revealed an "injury delay". What was that about?
  4. There was a game in Detroit when we were up by one and, in the 9th, Ivan Rodriguez led off with a triple. He was celebrating at third base, but we got the next 3 out without him advancing. That was pretty neat.
  5. 3 is the magic number to get into the playoffs (i.e., clinch at least the WC). Its that low because BOS and NYY play each other 3 times.
  6. Well give the kid a Nobel Prize. What a breakthrough discovery.
  7. As Ozzie might put it, "This BMAC3520 kid, he throw the ball well".
  8. I scored Section 108, obstructed view seating behind the right field foul pole, for Game 1. I got Row 27 of Section 152 for Game 2.
  9. I hope Iguchi is ok. Let's see if he's playing second next inning. If we lose Iguchi....I don't want to think about that.
  10. I'm not a big fan of Bum, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that Joe Borchard is preferable.
  11. So, I was checking out Japanese baseball today and I came across this description, at Wikipedia, of Japan's "cursed" team: And, furtheremore: Interesting taht they should make the playoffs in 2003.
  12. Watch out for WSI, that place will ban you for saying that el duque has aged and therefore might not be as good a postseason pitcher as he previously was. They do have a cult, it is a cult of optimism. Heretics are burned.
  13. I definately can't afford to drive out to the ballpark every day due to the recent spike in gas prices. That's why I take the el now. But lots of people don't have that luxury. I'm also lucky that my school doesn't start until September 27, so unlike most of the target audience for student half-price promotions, I don't have to worry about missing class or taking time away from work. I'm also not a football fan at all, which is a luxury that still more don't have.
  14. Bah. There's going to be a huge rush on both the phone and the internet. I disapprove.
  15. Carl does a great job reading the recycling promo that they show on the screen sometimes. It never fails to have me laughing.
  16. Of course, had the Sox acquired him, he would not have been in the situation he was in to get injured. But, sheesh. Griffey is going to be famous not for his accomplishments on the field, but for his stints on the DL. And that is hard, hard, hard to do with the kind of numbers that Griffey has.
  17. You mean the guards at Busch Stadium actually let in something that was mocking of the other team? Strange. It'd make more sense for the Marlins. They are fishes that eat baby bears, after all, so I'd assume that you could catch one using cubs for bait.
  18. Hopefully we won't see a Konerko-esque post-marriage slump.
  19. Wow. Just wow. Our 6th Starter -- 6th!!! -- shuts down the best offense in all of baseball. Impressive. I don't remember where BMAC was on August 31; is there any chance we could put him on the playoff roster?
  20. No; a team 30+ games over .500 should be able to beat a team that came into the series 15 games back and was consistently sub-mediocre. That's not news. The other way around certainly is.
