  1. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) UNC-Rutgers tomorrow night on ESPN. Don't everybody get as excited as I am. I know it will be hard. I'll be glued to the set, hopefully the Heels can get it rolling tonight in non confrence play and parlay that into making some noise this year in what looks to be a weak ACC this year.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) MOst of the time it's ACT scores and credits from high school classes. I never understood the ACT score thing. I think you have to get like an 18 and you get 3 chances. Well, now I think coach Cal just said that Angel is eligible and enrolled at Memphis (he had set things up with Wabash Valley J.C. earlier as a back up plan). This does not necersarily mean that he has been cleared by the ncaa yet, I guess. I am very familiar with Angel's high school and up to this point his scores were WAY short. So who knows, it's like a soap opera with his status, but he is taking classes at Memphis. Deandre Liggens is in a similar situation at Kentucky awaiting word from the ncaa, along with another Memphis recruit Simpkins. This is the same situation that led Jennings to jump to Europe.
  3. I honestly do not see how anybody does not get clearence from the ncaa to be eligible. Word from Memphis is that Angel Garcia is not only on campus but coach Cal has said that he has been cleared to participate this upcoming season. I'm glad to hear this and will be rooting for him, but just WOW on how he made the cut.
  4. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) Texas Tech 14th overall, and UNC picked 4th in the ACC, should be an awesome football year for me.I'm really hopeing that my Heels make signifigant strides this year under Davis. I'm looking forward to the season as well, thank god for the college football package so I can catch most of their games.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 12:40 PM) Bolt could probably get near 4.0. But if he ran a 3.75, god that is like a 9.4 100 meter time, or something (another guess). I just saw a list of the unofficial top nfl times, and Ted Ginn is the top at 4.06. another guy Wright I think at 4.09 Bo Jackon 4.12 with Dante Stallworth 4.13. The most jaw droping though was Deion Sanders 4.45 backwards. There were also some claims of Willie Gault posting a 4.05 and a 3.98.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) Who has ever ran sub 4.0? Nobody has ever come remotely close to that at the combine. You are right I had a brain fart with my times. I think Greene was 4.09 for the fastest NFL time (not at the combine though). Deion had a 4.18 and some scrub had a 4.12 at the combines for the top times ever there. Bolt possibly could get the 4.0, but I am WAY OFF and I apologize for the stupidity of my first comments
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) In the 40 he would probably be over 4. A time of 3.5 is superhuman. It takes him a while to accelerate to full speed, and that doesn't come until about 30-40 meters into it. So I'd have to imagine he'd be around 4.1 if he was actually a NFL prospect. Not a chance he would be in the 4.0. He easily would be sub 4.0. 3.75 max. Other guys have run sub 4.0 and Bolt is the best ever trained for just that type of thing. He would be closer to your superhuman 3.5 then your 4.1 prediction.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) May and Walsh didnt even lose a set, thats pretty damn impressive to me. I dont think they even lost a set in the last Olympics either, dominating a sport like that is more impressive than running in a straight line in my opinion. Everybody in the world runs. To dominate that is more impressive to me then dominating a seldom played sport.(fastest person in the world vs. best sand volleyball tandem) I am impressed with May/Walsh but BOLT is far and away more impressive to me.
  9. I'm just happy the gymnastic commentators and their whining are cries of we got jobbed by the rules or judges are off the air. They were a bad American syerotype personified. I could do without Lukin and her attitude as well, Johnson and the other one who fouled up were great though.
  10. I've said Bret Farve for a long time. He is a stud, but his gunslinger act has failed in big moments quite often. Overrated does not mean bad player to me. Farve is a hall of famer, but when I hear best ever thrown around as often as it is with Farve he reaks of being overrated to me. Nolan Ryan is his baseball equivalent to me. OVERRATED!!
  11. Thank god! As a Tarheel fan he was a well known anti-Carolina guy. He comes from the era (while at Wake Forest) of the non Carolina acc guys belonging to the abc club (anybody but carolina). He sucked in general, but I hated him when covering a UNC game. I do like Clark Kellogg and think he will be a massive upgrade from Packer.
  12. Do not be surprised if Angel Garcia is next to bolt to Europe and leave Memphis out in the cold. As I stated before I highly doubted that he would get the grades to allow him to play in college anyway, and from everything I've heard he is woefully short at this point. Jennings and Liggins were in the same boat and Jennings making the jump was not a surprise due to his grades, I'm not sure if Liggins has made the grade yet. Angel's only other option would be a JC, and the Europeans have been interested in him for a while.
  13. Rival 2010 hoop ranking are out. My Tarheel commits are Bullock #9 and Marshall #23 (have offered Roscoe Smith#16 this week as well). Illinois has Head #11 & Richmond #32. Ohio State loaded again Sullinger #3, Thomas #7, Golden#51. Other teams of note represented on here Purdue commit Carroll #44 and Iowa State commit Dykstra #92.Wisconsin was well represented as well.
  14. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) Leslie McDonald commited to UNC today after visiting UNC and Duke this weekend. Very nice capper to the 09 class. 3 of the top 27, 5 of the top 53. There are some rumors that the Wear twins may be considering backing out of the UNC commit. With the Heels offering Ryan Kelly this may be what has fueled the rumors. Henson seems to be a one and done type with his resent play, so this may be wherew Roy is coming up with the Kelly offer. In any event Roy is on a roll. With Lawson/Ellington/Greene all returning all is right in blue heaven at this point. McDonald was a TOP target for Duke. They are really banking on Kenny Boyton at this point and it seems to be them and Florida in the catbird seat for him. He is a beast at the point guard spot.
  15. Some big name guys are struggling with making the grade to pass the NCAA clearinghouse. Deandre Liggins has a learning disability so he can continue to take the ACT/SAT as many times as he needs, but word is he does not look good to qualify. DeRozen and Jennings have yet to qualify as well, and time is running short for them.
  16. QUOTE (CWSGuy406 @ May 30, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) Yeah -- he's got Erik Williams for that class, too, so that's two top 100 recruits for that 2009-2010 class. I'm still somewhat horrified at the prospects of the post James-Matthews-Mcneal era, but so far, so good for Buzz. I see now that Maymon has a big time acedemic problem and Wisconsin and others backed off even looking at him because of it. Marquette will have to monitor this closely or they may not have such a nice catch after all.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) Just breaking the law and doing drugs. No big deal. He had a cup of cognac while out on the street, breaking the open container law, and a joint in a cigerette pack I think they said. Not good true, but far from a major offense worthy of an outcry from the public about the "thugass" Noah. The police said he was very cooperative, and not wasted at all. A young foolish mistake, nothing major!
  18. Buzz gets one of Wisconsin's best to stay in state and go to Marquette. Jeronne Maymon is a solid 4 star with some size. The "BUZZ" era is starting to settle in.
  19. I was there for a nice win last night andI will be back tonight. Hopefully for another victory.
  20. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ May 14, 2008 -> 12:29 PM) Rivals updated 2009 rankings have come out. The two names that have been raved about this summer both have jumped up. John Wall has moved to #1 overall. John Henson has leaped to #5 overall. Both have wowed them this summer. I'm thrilled to see Henson dominate, but the Wear twins actually fell to 54/55 respectivley, while Dex. Strickland stayed solid at #16 for the Tarheel commits. Illinois is represented by Paul at #49, Richardson at #57, Bertrand at #77, and Griffey at #123. Scout updates are out as well. My Tarheels guys were very similar to rivals: Henson #4, Strickland #12 Wear twins #52 &53. Illini recruits varied much more according to Scout's rankings: Richardson #60, Griffey #80, Paul #95, and Bertarand missed the top 100 (only getting a 3 star ranking). Favors gets the Scout top nod for the best in the land, while Rivals top man Wall ranked #3 with Scout.
  21. IU recruit Elston tore his minescus, tough break for the kis and the beleagered Hoosiers. I heard that McCamey's kid brother Deandre? (uncommitted) blew his knee out recently as well. I wish the best for both of them in their recoveries
  22. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 18, 2008 -> 11:47 AM) Rumor that Demar Derozen has asked for his release from his LOI and wants to come to UNC. I will believe it when it happens, but hey I can dream. Haven't had an athlete like him on the Hill since Vince. Yeah, I mentioned that a few weeks ago, but like you I am doubtful. UCLA is prominantly mentioned along with UNC, but USC may balk at letting him out if he stays in the Pac 10. He has some family health issues also that may work towards him staying out west. This is all contingent on USC getting hit for the OJ Mayo stuff or he won't be going anywhere though.
  23. Justin Watts who has been waiting to see if a spot opens up for him at Carolina with the 3 guys testing the waters for the NBA should be the happiest with the transfer of Stepheson for family health issues. This seems to open his spot as Carolina is already covered at the power forward spot with Zeller & Davis coming in and Thompson & Hansbrough returning.
  24. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Hell of a bad offseason for UNC. Lawson and Ellington most likely gone, with Green as a decent possibility, and now Alex Stepheson is transferring. I don't understand why Deon gets the PT over him, and never will. Alex will be a very good one somewhere in Cali. It's official and as expected he cited his health concerns with his family as the reason to return home and provide more support for them in California. I wish the big kid all the luck in the world, and hopefully his dad's health issue improve.
