  1. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 15, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Hell of a bad offseason for UNC. Lawson and Ellington most likely gone, with Green as a decent possibility, and now Alex Stepheson is transferring. I don't understand why Deon gets the PT over him, and never will. Alex will be a very good one somewhere in Cali. It's not official yet, but with Davis & Zeller coming in and Hansbrough returing it makes sense. He had a hard time being away from his dad when he fell seriously ill during the season. He did return to California to be with him, but it hit Alex pretty hard from what I've heard. His biggest weakness was his hands, just terrible at catching the damn ball. He is a beast physically though and hit the boards well. If he is indeed on his way out of "the hill" I wish him all the best.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ May 11, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) What's next? Eric Gordon and Derrick Rose took gifts? The NCAA admits mistake in letting Darrell Arthur attend Kansas. A Dallas station reports that the rumors that have been around are true and that Arthur should not have cleared the NCAA clearinghouse, due to a math class he did not pass. A few of his other grades were also changed two years after he had taken the courses. Nothing implicates Kansas in doing anything wrong, just that it was a screwup on the NCAA's part to allow him to be eligible.
  3. NO chance NO way should he be able to go to the Olympics. I saw the story on ESPN 360 or whatever. Great story, but come on it's not a reason to allow that for the competitors.
  4. Rivals updated 2009 rankings have come out. The two names that have been raved about this summer both have jumped up. John Wall has moved to #1 overall. John Henson has leaped to #5 overall. Both have wowed them this summer. I'm thrilled to see Henson dominate, but the Wear twins actually fell to 54/55 respectivley, while Dex. Strickland stayed solid at #16 for the Tarheel commits. Illinois is represented by Paul at #49, Richardson at #57, Bertrand at #77, and Griffey at #123.
  5. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 13, 2008 -> 10:57 PM) And busy losing a ton of recruits. With the OJ Mayo investigation starting Demar DeRozan the super athletic USC commit has said he will reconsider going to SC, if any penalties are forth coming. UCLA & North Carolina have been rumored to have been contacted by De Rozan. If Ellington does not return UNC could be a perfect fit for a one and done year for DeRozan,
  6. Kentucky stays busy and gets a good one in Jon Hood for the 2009 class. He was a fairly big Duke target, so I'm glad to see him pass on the Dookies. Gillespie has been a busy boy of late.
  7. Damn, Kentucky staying with the young commits get Vinny Zollo a freshman out of Kentucky to commit. A 8th grader and a frosh this week for the Cats
  8. Stud J'mision Morgan is asking out of his LSU letter of intent due to the coaching change and it seems that UCLA will be the benificiary. Big Loss for the reeling Bayou Bengal hoop program, while the Bruins just keep on keppin' on.
  9. Hopefully the Butch Davis tunure will kick into full gear this year. It looks like Yates is ahead of schedule with his recovery from his shoulder surgery and should be readty by camp. He is throwing already which is great news. Greg Little looks to have locked up the feature back spot with his spring performance. Houston seems to be his only real competition at this point, and he will be the backup. Former running back and my favorite name Richie Rich has been moved to dee back.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 5, 2008 -> 12:49 PM) Yeah, the fact that high schools are going to start really recruiting the star 8th grade athletes makes me concerned about society. That has been happening for an awful long time already. Nothing new there, the top guys often go to multiple places and check out all of their options in most cases.
  11. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:06 AM) I like how he doesn't know where he's going to high school yet. Well he is moving from California and coming to the midwest, so he is shoping around for the best fit. The whole reason that Gillipse saw him at the King James is because he was checking out a private school in Culver indiana and hooked up with their AAU team for the King James.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) Wisconsin has gotten 2 basketball commits for 2010 recently: Evan Anderson 6'11 Center from Eau Claire and Vander Blue shooting guard from Madison. Im pretty sure that leaves either 0 or 1 scholarship for the 2010 class. The Anderson get is very nice. He was getting some attention from the heavy hitters, but wanted to stay at home and gave his verbal before the big boys even offered. Good get for the Badgers.
  13. Kentucky gets a comittment from a 8TH GRADE 6'4 KID, named MIcheal Avery. They are getting younger and younger with these verbals nowadays.
  14. Lawson declares, but does not take an agent. Ellington and the national player of the year should make an announcement shortly now. It seems like if Lawson can get the guarenteed first round money he will take it. The pre draft camps will be vital for him.
  15. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) Now it seems Wayne and Ty Lawson are returning and Tyler will test the waters. Can't say I blame him.It makes sense. He seems conflicted, and the fact that he is already 23 years old may also play a bit into his ultimate decision. Hell most talented players are in their 4th season and acclimated to the NBA by the time he'll be just entering the draft, if he waits another year.
  16. draftexpress.com (don't know how reliable that sourse is) is reporting that Lawson has decided to return to Carolina. There are also some reports from them that Tyler & Danny Greene of all people have decided to test the waters without an agent, but in an interview on WRAL radio in North Carolina Tyler said that he is still very much undecided at this point.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Have you heard any news on Thabeet? Last i head Calhoun said he was 60/40 towards coming back for one more year. The BET and the NCAAs really hurt his draft stock That situation has been the most shocking to me. He seems like a sure fire NBA lottery type guy with his size for the upcoming draft, but he seems to be inching further away from leaveing. I still will be surprised if he does not declare and take on an agent.
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) I think Thabeet is almost 100% returning now. I have also heard today that all three might be returning to UNC afterall. Roy has told Tyler it's his choice whether he leaves or not and he has his blessing. Roy told Wayne and Ty that they should return after hearing from NBA sources that they were late 1st round picks at the best and very likely could slide into the 2nd. Same things I have heard. It is wild that the lowest NBA prospect in Tyler now seems to be projected as a middle range first rounder, while the hot prospects in Wayne & Ty have fallen to late first round to 2nd round guys. Lots can change though that's why I think they all might declare and not take a agent to test the water. Again some family pressure has been rumored to be on Wayne, even though the NBA guys want him back in college working on aspects of his game.
  19. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) Right now it seems... Hansbrough, staying Ellington, 50/50 Lawson, leaving Team would be ok next year if Ellington stays with Hansbrough. From what I have gathered from UNC. Lawson was 99% gone, but may be reconsidering with his injury and the top PG's leaving for the draft this year. Ellington getting some heavy family type pressure to start getting paid, but he would like to stay and develop into a solid first round pick. Hansbrough looked solid in coming back, but with his sweeping of the awards, and the possibility of Ty& Wayne going bye-bye he has become about 50/50 at this point to leave as well. I expect all 3 to declare, but not to take agents and test the waters to see if they warrent enough interest to start making a living and forgo the rest of their care-free college days. If Ellington & Hansbrough return like you hope, they will be a consensus #1 pre season.
  20. No announcement at the UNC banquet, but from reports it seemed like all three acted like this was their last one. Nothing official, but most don't like the chances of another season in college for all 3,
  21. It looks like Kevin Love is bye-bye for sure from UCLA. The North Carolina banquet is tonight, so Tyler, Ty, and Wayne may give a heads up on their status tonight (last year they announced at the banquet). Rumors have strengthened that each may stay, but who knows. Lawson seemed to be a sure bet to go pro, but with the crazy strong batch of point guards this year and his injury plagued finish, many are projecting him to be mid to LOW 1st round now, which may force him to stick around one more year. In any case I wish them all well, but it sure would be nice to see them all come back.
  22. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) Here's the rest of the Big Ten/ACC: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3348226 I will use the E'twaun/East Chicago connection to get tickets for the Purdue/ Duke matchup for sure. I probably will try to get to Ford Field to take in my Heels and Michigan State the next day as well. That would be a good couple of days for me, if I can pull it off.
  23. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 07:58 AM) koufos is supposed to announce next week. my guesses on those are hansbrough (stay), lawson (stay), chalmers (go), arthur (stay), augustin (go), rose (go), cdr (go), koufos (go). I would love for you to be right, but Lawson is 95% gone in my opinion. Hansbrough about 50/50 as well as Ellington. I think they both will declare, but will not take agents and may return. Arthur I think gone, Chalmers declare without taking an agent Rose, Augustin,CDR,Koufos all gone I think.
  24. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) I'm just going to put this here; Scott Martin has decided to transfer from Purdue. http://www.nwitimes.com/articles/2008/04/0...88353436239.txt There were some rumors about this towards the end of the season, but I didn't put much stock in them. The word was that he was going to return to Valpo.
  25. Terrell Holloway has also made it official. Xavier will benifit from the Sampson scandal and get him as the heir apparent to Drew Lavender. Roger Franklin out of Texas has put Indiana at the top of his list since Crean has taken over the helm though. He said that Crean had recruited him heavily at Marquette, and told him that he is the first priority recruit he has offered since taking the IU job.
