QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Any better? Yes, but there is just a little bit of red around the number.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) I didn't think it was that bad. still see some red in the number on the sleeve and neck and on the shoe you can see where you colored.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Yeah, we call that talking out of your ass. I don't know, those statements by him seem preety thought out and researched.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) Ditto...I'd love to have agreed with Mariotti here...but come on, if you're going to get a big paycheck from the Sun Times and from ESPN, at least have the dignity to learn how the rules of the game work. actually juggernaut is showing that anderson might not have to clear waivers in the griffey rumor thread.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) This is why KW should have claimed Sweeney on waivers. Sweeney has a no-trade and wants to play on the west coast if the Royals don't want him., chances are very slim he would accept assignment to the White Sox. The chances of the Royals awarding the White Sox Sweeney's contract would even be slimmer. There was virtually no chance the Sox would be on the hook for his contract, but it would have blocked any move with the Angels. If the Angels eventually get Sweeney this season and the Sox have to play them in the playoffs it would be considered a huge blunder in my book. Yah like KW knew that the angels were going to pursue him since he didnt he cant have the chance of the royals going here take him and his contract.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) if you think losing 4 games in a row once in the whole season is the end of the world, than i have no answers for you. Someone else is trying to stay as positvie is me

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Let's see here. We cannot win at home anymore. We can't win at Fenway. We can't beat Oakland. Vlad and K-rod are now healthy for Anaheim. Kenny will not find us another big bat. Um yeah...I really like our chances. I am now the official king of pessimism. Lets see here. We are awesome on the road. We have the best record in the AL. Our pitching staff is dominate we lead are division by 11 games and our offense is bound to break out of the slump. Next time think of the glass half full instead of half empty and quit worrying there is nothing you can do. Just enjoy the great season were having.

You have really thought this out juggernaut

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) But this is a unique trade scenario you are proposing, which isnt covered on those 3 tenets. If a trade is agreed upon during the waiver period, you would think that even if the players are moved at a later date, that they would be subject to a waiver period, because of the date that the trade was agreed upon. I like your idea, and I wish it would happen, but you would think the MLB CBA would prevent teams from doing such a thing. They agree to the august trade in august say nothing about the other one the agree to the other one after the waiver period its 2 separate deals preety much that when combined equals out.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Smart Sox fans, the ones who don't waste their lives on the Internet, understand that four terrific months don't win a pennant. Im offended. This just proves that jay does read soxtalk. Shut up Kotex boy were the smart ones.

That was the only good thing tonight it be huge if he can continue to pitch like this in big situations.

QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) :fyou Im already pissed off enough and rembering this makes it worse

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) Shoulda, coulda........There was absolutely no guarantee that we would have won on Sunday. We need to stop making excuses, and just win some f***ing games. Buehrle needs to step up tomorrow, and pretend like he needs to throw a shut-out to win. No reason to pretend he HAS to.

Had they played sundays game and won I think that would have been huge on confidence and this woudnt be so bad right now we might have actually won yesterday or today.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) There is nothing wrong with entering your 16th inning and finally using the last man in the pen. Think about the Indians fiasco early in the year when Viz got hung out to dry because no one else was available. That was mis-managing your pen. I really can't complain about the way Ozzie did it tonight. He was managing for the win in the 8th inning and played the matchups. Personally I'm not a big proponent of the whole righty lefty crap cause I think when a guy is looking good you go with him. Marte was looking good tonight and I'd of just left him in. But thtas not what Ozzie's done and quite frankly you can't argue with the results (1st place, best record in the AL). And in the 8th inning while your winning your damn right your gonna manage whatever way you see best. At that point your not thinking of a 16 inning game cause 99% of the time the game will finish in regulation or at worse go an extra inning or two and the best way to win that game in the next couple innings is by going with your best guys, even if it is for a shorter period of time. In short, you'll win a lot more games managing as if it were going 9 than you would if you always managed with the thought the game is going to go 16 innings. Thats basically what I said except much longer and more thought out.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) This "who cares" attitude needs to stop. Our postseason position is not guaranteed. Before you know it, we'll be saying "oh well" when our lead is trimmed to 8 games. Then 5 games. We need improvements on this club immediately. This offense is terrible. Can't score in 9 innings off Minnesotas bullpen how do you expect to fare off Anaheim's? Or Oaklands? -- What can we do Tizzle? We're in a skid. But I ain't jumping ship. GO SOX! Umm the twins bullpen is just as good if not better then the angels and A's

QUOTE(wsox08 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) but playing the "matchups" every game is good? If you are a pitcher in the major leagues you should be able to pitch to lefties and righties... You get paid for it and do it... It's unbelieveable how little the relief pitchers actually do in a ballgame Marte pitched 2/3 Politte 1/3 had we went into the ninth tied politte would have pitched the entire ninth. edit: and marte is horrible agaist righties.
