  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 11:45 AM) People are retarded. I just wonder if Pastor Roger Byrd is a Muslim. He says he's not but how do we really know?
  2. Church posts the following sign: Obama, Osama, hmm, are they brothers? Nothing like bringing people together.
  3. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Napoleon Dynamite isn't funny. Your Soxtalk membership should be revoked.
  4. BigSqwert replied to Heads22's topic in The Filibuster
Hard to argue, IMO, with this line of thought:

    No Nip/Tuck fans?
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 01:27 PM) People really worry too much about what other people think... that is the only reason you would spend $10k on a kids birthday party. No kidding. What do you do for the kids birthday next year once you already spent $10K on this one? You can't have a cheaper birthday next year so you try going even more overboard.
  7. Not sure where else to put this but I figured we might get a heated debate on both sides of this issue. The article reminded me of a friend of mine that had a gigantic party for his son's 1 year birthday. My girlfriend and I were shocked when we arrived. It seemed like they spent more than we will be spending on our wedding this summer. FULL ARTICLE
  8. The Financial Times just endorsed Obama. (Need to be registered to access their website so I didn't link it.) Couple this with Clinton being in the red and we see that Obama might be better at running the government. This long campaign is the closest that either one of them has been to running a business or government (granted it's not the same thing) and Obama has run a tight ship.
  9. QUOTE (NUKE @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 08:25 AM) If you count number of times whining about money in the media or if you could somehow quantify causing problems in the clubhouse he'd be right on top of the heap. How's things in Toronto going? Oh wait........... I thought this was a discussion on baseball statistics not personalities. He's #1 in my book.
  10. I know a lot of people despise him but Michael Moore is endorsing Obama...
  11. A little analysis on the ABC debate vs the others in this campaign season. ABC was in a class (or should I say no class) of its own.
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) How is this sort of post OK with the new 'buster rules?

  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) I would take that as a pretty clear "This can't go on any longer after last night" message, wouldn't you? Sounds like it. We'll see if they listen and take action soon. I'm guessing yes.
  15. Gavin is not a big fan of giving up base hits as of late. I likey.
  16. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) edit: Oh, George Stephanopoulos's is a partisan Democrat, just for reference. From the Clinton White House. Seems like the brunt of the silliness in the first 50 minutes of the debate was geared towards Obama.
  17. QUOTE (sox-r-us @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) .... Lets sweep and keep the momentum going I am enjoying listening to the pre game show on WSCR....Stoney is so much fun to listen to. Quick q: since WSCR radio feed is free on the internet, why would anyone pay for the MLB radio package? Anyone here doing that? If yes, why? I thought the actual game was not broadcast on their site. Just pre and post game.
  18. This made me chuckle: LINK
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) Here you go - this is what I was talking about a few posts ago, I knew of it but couldn't find the exact quote. This is what Obama said during the debate when they pressed him on Clinton's sniper white lie. He tried to change the subject... didn't work though. “[T]he fact of the matter is, is that both of us are working as hard as we can to make sure that we’re delivering a message to the American people about what we would do as president. Sometimes that message is going to be imperfectly delivered, because we are recorded every minute of every day. And I think Senator Clinton deserves, you know, the right to make some errors once in a while. I’m — obviously, I make some as well. “I think what’s important is to make sure that we don’t get so obsessed with gaffes that we lose sight of the fact that this is a defining moment in our history. We are going to be tackling some of the biggest issues that any president has dealt with in the last 40 years. Our economy is teetering not just on the edge of recession, but potentially worse. Our foreign policy is in a shambles. We are involved in two wars. People’s incomes have not gone up, and their costs have. And we’re seeing greater income inequality now than any time since the 1920s. “In those circumstances, for us to be obsessed with this — these kinds of errors I think is a mistake.” I'm not sure what else he could say to change the topics. He would be lambasted if he just flat out refused to answer some of the stupid questions being thrown at him.
  20. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) I didn't see that debate, but stupid questions and basically ignoring important issues seems to be the norm. The CNN and MSNBC GOP debates were horrible. A complete joke, actually. ABC took it to another level.
  21. Obama picks up endorsements from 3 superdelegates as well as Bruce Springsteen today.
  22. In other local news, a new microbrew might open up in my neighborhood soon (Logan Square). I am crossing my fingers.
  23. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 04:48 AM) well s*** i work right across the street from that location Jaimito's Burritos?
