  1. Although he says he is still running I wouldn't be surprised if he bowed out in the near future. I just hope it all turns out OK for her in the end.
  2. I'm not a violent person but when I saw the video I wanted to beat this guy's face in with a tire iron.
  3. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 07:56 AM) Any more ... I'll update the list with some detail at a later date. An honorable mention might be Wilson Alvarez's 4 K inning. Not sure what year that was.

  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) El Duque vs. Boston is so the obvious choice. Nothing else compares. For real. If you don't agree you probably didn't see the inning live as it occurred or you watched it on Tivo after you knew the Sox already won the game.
  6. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) How many times do I have to say that it IS a problem, but it's not totally up to us? I have probably said it about 25 times in this thread. But of course, I'm just ignorant and blind to the Goracle's "facts". I love the conservatives. It's America's obligation to go oust Saddam Hussein in the middle east but something that affects the lives of the entire population of the planet should be ignored.
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) Why, of course, to blindly follow the Goracle - he MUST be right! Notes to the rules when posting on this site: Soxtalk rule #1523634645754683 - thou shalt not disagree with the Goracle. I just posted about India and China. Again, it's a problem, but Americans shouldn't necessarily be the ones who have to take it up the shorts when fixing a WORLD problem. We're NOT the only "superpower". So just put the blinders on. Excellent choice.
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) ABSOLUTELY pure 100% Bull s***. Translation: "America, you're too greedy. The Chinese and Indian economies deserve a chance to catch up. You have to do more ... and the rest of the world MIGHT follow... but it's all up to us Americans. Give us the money, and we'll figure out what to do about it". So your solution would be what exactly? He suggests things like cutting carbon dioxide and other warming gases 90 percent by 2050. Something that even the "hypocrite" himself would have to abide by.
  9. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) It's silly to spend $100M to build a contending team and then hamstring it by sticking two lousy hitters in LF and CF. Someone forward that to the front office.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 09:34 AM) Brian Anderson isn't going anywhere, Anderson fans. Relax. It behooves the White Sox organization to keep Brian Anderson as the team's starting center-fielder. Do you really think the organization does not know this? Boy, bring in some veteran competition for a struggling, loud-mouthed former-top-prospect and everybody on Soxtalk gets a little bit jumpy. You can still wear your Anderson fan-boy jerseys for at least another year. Unless your name is Kenny Williams you probably shouldn't spew things out as if they are cold hard facts.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) Masset gives up a 4 pitch walk to leadoff. After reading that I feel as excited as Stewie looks in your avatar.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) nothing is worse than comedic actors trying to be serious. Yeah that Tom Hanks is awful.

    QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) I have a good feeling about 'Reign Over Me'... I share that feeling.
  14. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 08:57 AM) 1. Aaron Rowand 2. Slow, overrated CF 3. ARow 4. Grinder 5. Row 6. AR 7. Crash 8. Chicago-kind-of-player 9. Poor Baserunner At some point this season Ozzie will literally place an oven-grinder sandwich in the batter's box at a key moment in the game.
  15. BTW - when is the next round of ST cuts?
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) Thats semantics in this case. I would rather see a line drive swing and better situational hitting than watching our guys trying to hit cars on the Dan Ryan. You have 3 guys that are our bonified power thumpers. If its 3-1 sure try to drive it to mars, if its late in the game and we need a single to tie it with a man on 2nd I dont see the reasoning in watching a hitter fall over trying to hit the ball onto the concourse instead of putting a good swing on it and putting it into the gap. The grinder team that this team was patterened after was the Twins. If you get to 2 strikes on a twink and the game is late, the kid may go down, but he will battle your brains out shortening his swing up and trying to put the ball in play. I then see our hitters in the same game with large cuts trying to just murder the baseball. There are times in a game where you should cut down on your swing and put the ball in play and I dont think we preach that at all here. And I think this is why we see year after year some no name nothing 1 hitting our club after 5 innings by pitching us low and away. We see this year after year and complain about it. What is the coaching staff doing to earn their paycheck because I have seen nothing that tells me that we are breaking that mold. "Ozzieball", "Grinderball", "Smallball", or whatever you want to call it.....it's just a myth.
  17. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) I'm also going to have to say El Duque vs the Red Sox. That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen considering the implications/pressure of the situation. That wasn't just another ordinary game...that was the playoffs with a 1 run lead -- retained. It was flat out amazing. And you forgot to mention that it was on the road in front of a hostile Boston crowd.

The Roots tore down the roof at the Chicago theater on Saturday. Excellent show.
  19. Just getting back. Update on the score anyone?
  20. Peter Pan is back!
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Dogs just dont taste as good as cows and pigs. /thread Speaking from experience?
  22. QUOTE(Soxy @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 01:55 PM) So, slaughtering an animal for food (which, is admittedly sad but governed by many federal regulations that include provisions for their care) is equivilant to beheading a pet dog and delivering its head to its owner? Best Soxtalk Strawman argument of the day! PS: I'm a vegetarian and I still think your argument holds as much water a colander. I think killing all animals is immoral including the beheading of a companion animal. I was just making an observation that one method of murdering an animal is despicable yet another method is brushed off.
  23. We brutally execute millions of animals each day to feed the populace in assembly lines. Pigs, cows, and chickens have the same feelings that dogs do and are considered just as smart. Only a small handful of people seem to care about those animals. *awaits to get pummeled by Soxtalk nation*
