White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) They are his best hitter just like Konerko? Did you seriously just compare Lillibridge to Konerko. I completely misread the post I responded to.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) They've been on fire since your guy Bobby Jenks blew the big hairy one against them in the finale of the series there. Well that, and they're playing some weak competition right now. Competition that gives us fits.

I want Ozzie and KW gone.
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) So they are paving the way for that now I guess. Fathom, you must agree at the ridiculousness of the timing of this thread? I mean the team is coming off that wild win streak, the road trip wasn't a disaster and there's a big home win streak going on. Viciedo is looking like the real deal; Danks and Floyd are on fire. Alexei is looking like a real ss of the future, etc. When we fall six or seven out, I would suspect this place will be on fire demanding resignations and firings because it's pretty bad right now and we're in first place (til tonight probably). I mean this is a nonsequitir (sp) deluxe. People can't possibly want these two fired with where we stand today or I think they need some counseling. That's debatable.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
Why the f*** do the Royals keep playing us so tough and roll over for the Twins?

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) So he's going to sit his best hitter more often? Doubt it completely. He's done it with Lillibridge and Viciedo for the last few weeks so why would he change?

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 09:03 AM) It's actually this year, he just typed the wrong year. And that's why he used a 2 month stretch for comparison because Dunn actually plays full seasons whereas Carlos doesn't.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 08:57 AM) rant/ People need to stop using the "small sample size" defense. The last I looked nobody has done a power analysis to determine what the proper sample size needs to be to predict the outcome of a 162 game schedule. Until that's determined you have no idea what the adequate sample size need to be. People continue to use statistical analysis without regard for the reliability or validity of any of the processes. This is one of the problems with all of Bill James stats. He bases them off things he thinks makes sense, but has never done and will never do reliability studies on them. I've e-mailed him and asked him those questions and he replied once about 10 years ago. His respose was "they seem to make sense to me." He doesn't respond to any statistical analysis questions anymore. I know I've stated this before but it bothers me when people use statistical analysis for their discussions when they really don't know how to use the terms. /rant. I guess I don't understand the point of cherry picking a random 2 month stretch from last year to prove a point. Especially since the comparison shows almost equal results from the 2 players.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) And yet he still has more HR and RBI than Dunn over that small period of time. Fixed

QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) Well put, sir! Of course he used a small sample size since Carlos is seemingly injured half the time.

Mariners (Rowland-Smith 1-9, 6.27) @ White Sox (Floyd 5-8, 3.87)
Btw AJ was not pulled. Castro replaced Pierre as DH.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) Linebrink? No way! This is a great opportunity to get Jenks in there so he can get his one more successful inning and return to closer duties. This is sarcasm. Jenks struggles against this offensive juggernaut.

Mariners (Rowland-Smith 1-9, 6.27) @ White Sox (Floyd 5-8, 3.87)
What situation are we saving Linebrink for?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) Well, we have our next Piranha. Danny Valencia hitting .391. Looks like the Twins will be starting out 9-4 after the ASB. Unfortunately, we have only a 1 game lead instead of 4, but that's what happens when Jenks comes unglued. We have Viciedo but he's stuck on the bench 99% of the time.

Mariners (Rowland-Smith 1-9, 6.27) @ White Sox (Floyd 5-8, 3.87)
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) Why don't we see more of the tank??? Ridiculous Kotsay is getting AB's over this guy. That was pretty sweet Mind boggling really.

Mariners (Rowland-Smith 1-9, 6.27) @ White Sox (Floyd 5-8, 3.87)
Dayan will go 4-4 with 2 HRs and land us Fielder in a straight up swap.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 06:34 PM) I'm not even sure what that really mean you agree or disagree with, but I have NO problems dealing Hudson as long as we have another deal in place for a quality pitcher. I concur.

The sleeper thread
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) is this the sleeper thread or the dreamer thread? Ichiro for 2 more years would be awesome, but I can't see it happening. I thought it was the Inception discussion thread.

The sleeper thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) Seattle has a higher average attendance for their home games than the White Sox. And that isn't even noting Japanese ad sales. I am certain that the numbers for the Sox will increase and Seattle's will decrease over the course of the next 2 months.
