QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) The thing that jumps to the top of my list is Terry Bevington calling in the non-existent reliever. An all time classic.

Report: Obama to nominate Kagan to Supreme Court

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:15 PM) Hi lefty Kap! I was referring to Controlled Chaos' post above. I don't understand how anyone could know that she's an ultra leftist. -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Pistachios are dangerous. You start eating them and than like 3 hours later you just ate like 10 pounds. I like walnuts and almonds when they are in other foods, but not by themselves. So true. My wife packed me a lunch this morning and added a huge bag of pistachios. I asked her why she gave me so many and she replied that they're for the whole week. Yeah right like I'll ration it off. Of course I already ate them all this morning.

Report: Obama to nominate Kagan to Supreme Court

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) Which is the whole point of picking someone who hasn't practiced law, or sat in judgment of anything of value. And yet she's the most liberal person alive with no evidence to prove it. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) Not really. If you are in a pennant race and your set-up guy can't get people out and blows games, that makes absolutely no sense at all. Sometimes another team will think a change of scenery will benefit a player or perhaps they see a flaw in his mechanics that they think they can fix.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) She's as far left as they come only without the paper trail. This is why she's the perfect candidate for Barry. There isn't much to vet her on, but make no mistake, Obama knows where she stands. And you know this how exactly? -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) Really? Yes. He doesn't do anything I'd consider far left so naturally I felt his pick would be a centrist like him. -
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) Rios's last year was the only outlier in his career. Garcia would be my vote as well. Santos would be another candidate. Sure the has the arsenal. Its been amazing that he has thrown all of his pitches for strikes, and has had the composure that he has had not a year after his conversion. Forgot about Santos (probably because it feels like he has 3 appearances all year). He'd be a good choice as well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) I'd just like to throw in here, that given Kagan has gotten such negative reaction from the far left and far right politically... Obama probably made a decent choice here. In fact I'm surprised he had the balls to nominate someone who wasn't obviously far left, which is what everyone expected him to do. I never expected him to do that. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) Any nut with salt > without salt -- health concerns aside. If you were invincible/immortal -- you'd choose the salted nuts, or you'd have to be a communist weirdo. I agree in most instances but I do prefer unsalted almonds over salted.
-
Best surprise of the year....Garcia, Jones or Rios? I say Garcia. He's been an absolute workhorse and exceeded all of my expectations. I expected a bounce back year from Rios.
-
Of the ones listed, I like them all except for walnuts. And testicles.

QUOTE (G&T @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) It was one of the worst movies I have every seen. Those might be the most annoying people I have ever watched on film. I can't believe I watched the whole thing. It was so annoying and even though it's only 88 minutes long, it felt like a 3 hour movie.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:03 AM) I think you're right on Beckham, his average on balls in play is .235 (though his LD% is kind of low). His HR/FB rate is even worse. Quentin is hitting .180 on balls in play, with a LD% only .3 lower than 2008. I still think it's too late for this team, but I thing these two can be legitimate contributors in upcoming seasons (Though I think Quentin needs to DH, he's bad in the OF). Bad is an understatement.

Roasted, unsalted almonds are pretty awesome too.

I'm snacking on some salted pistachios right now and I'm in heaven. What do you all prefer?

QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:45 AM) Why keep around players who are in a contract for 2-3 more years when it is going to be pretty tough to be competitive during those years. Might as well try to get some good young players again. What about the worst to first transformation Detroit did a couple years back? Are we that far off?

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ May 6, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) Also big ups for those links, a lot of those I have never been to. Here's a couple other up and coming spots in our neighborhood: Nice Slice Pizza Bar Cafe Moustache La Boulangerie

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 17, 2010 -> 02:21 AM) The 2005 Houston Astros started 15-30 and went on to win the NL Pennant. The season is not over yet. We know we have a pitching staff that could be amongst the best in the league. The hitting will come around eventually, it simply HAS to. We won't bat .227 as a team for the entire season. Be patient... And I really don't feel this is true.

I smell another "Are you in?" thread on its way.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 15, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Very good album. I'm also excited for the new Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek album to come out on Tuesday. Likewise

QUOTE (Brian @ May 16, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) There is nothing I really want to see right now and will just say my #1 queue on Netflix is embarassing. Will not tell. Do you do netflix streaming as well? If so, check out "We Live in Public".

QUOTE (G&T @ May 16, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) Bad. But that's my opinion. My god that was awful. I felt like I was watching some freshman film major's first project at school.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 16, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) The panic over Beckham is very irrational. I completely disagree. There is no guarantee that he will be a star. -
Queued up Paper Heart for tonight.
