Brian Anderson traded to Red Sox for Mark Kotsay
BigSqwert replied to Jimmywins1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) I laughed when they brought in Joe Nathan. I was like, is this really necessary? It's like driving to your neighbor's house. And yet if the roles were reversed and we brought in Jenks to face Casilla for the last out he'd probably get a base hit. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) I really don't know why though, once you learn how the Metric system actually works, the English system actually seems kind of stupid. kind of?
-
Right now the Phillies have to be favorites to win it all.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) This is a hysterical stream-of-consciousness rant. Palinesque but actually coherent.

QUOTE (bulokis @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9866900...ndians'-Lee Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco for 4 of Phillies' top ten Prospect. It looks like a good haul for the indians. A GM somewhere in Canada just peed down his leg.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) (applause) They probably found some polling that showed numbers dipping for politicians that supported the conspiracy.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) This whole thread is "mind-bottling".... Huh? I've never heard that expression before.

My mom has been bugging me for 15 years now for me to try getting on Jeopardy. She brings it up about 5 times each year.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) I cant believe I forgot this one... not sure how "unpopular" it is: I believe the United States should be completely converted over to the metric system by 2015. Why the arbitrary date?
-
QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) The Sox suck and Kenny Williams never makes the right moves. We can never get young talent because we never evaluate well. We are just so bad. I like the cut of your jib.

Why am I not seeing this deal anywhere but from some guy's twitter?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) You're (not you personally, people with the stance they have about abortion) like to throw that in people's faces. It's stupid - SO concerned about infant mortality rates when abortions kill millions. Ok. Don't even talk to me about that, because it's not worth my time. Holy s***. You've gone off the deep end.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) You have a moral high ground to talk about this when abortion is legal? Please. Next. WTF kind of response is that? I'm talking about babies born that die, not fetuses.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) Oh here we go. EVIL COMPANIES MAKING PROFITS! HOW DARE THEY! We pay more in the world because we save more lives. PERIOD. But, for some reason, that doesn't matter, now does it? I'm sure the liberal blogs prove me wrong, even though it's common sense. Heart patients - how many people do not have the heart attacks they would have had even 15 years ago because of medical advancements? Holy s***, those Europeans are on the cutting edge of technology - I'm sure they're the reason why innovations are up, right? Eh? Eh? Cancer - I don't even have to delve into this one, because it's too obvious. If you have cancer in the rest of the world, you're a lot more likely to die. But now I'm certain the liberal blogs say I'm "fear mongering". f*** profits. Everything should be given to the government to spread back to the nanny state. It's obviously the best solution to everything. Why is the infant mortality rate so high in the US?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) That deadline was nonsense. If Boston wants him, they'll get him. Especially if they are offering Bucholz and other top spects like Masterson or Bowden... I'd still love to see him in our uniform even though the odds are slim to none. We've got a lot of games against the AL East coming up and he owns those teams.

Did all of this stem from Brian refusing to play winter ball a couple years ago? That was him, right?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) But Kotsay can't really play there anymore. He could in a pinch, of course, but Wise is a superior defensive player right now. Kotsay could spell people at the corner spots but he's really down to primarily a 1B now. With Fields only backing up PK at 1B and Beckham getting 90% of the PT at 3B (as he should be), Fields wasn't going to get at bats. Wise isn't a good player, but there wasn't really a "competition" between Wise and Fields b/c of where they play and where Kotsay can play. We need an OF who can play a decent CF if (when?) Pods or CQ get hurt or as a late inning replacement. I'm amazed that Kenny hasn't grabbed some mediocre OF in a trade that can actually play a little defense and hit over .240. Are they that rare?

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) He's backup 1B who can also play LF or RF when needed. He's also the best pinch hitter we have. He can also be used as a pinch runner once in a while as he still has some speed. I can't handle anymore Wise starts. He doesn't deserve another start with this team. -
Mark should return the gifts he ordered for the team after the embarrassing defensive display last night.

So is Kotsay now the 4th OF? If Wise is anything more than a late inning pinch runner I will be livid. -
QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:31 AM) toronto still pisst about parque for david wells deal. Sirotka

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) Ricciardi laughs at your pitiful offer and counters with Alexei, Fields, Richard and the rest of the team for Halladay and Rios straight up Does adding Poreda to the deal make it somewhat more likely?
-
Would anyone be down with Alexei, Fields and Richard for Halladay and Rios straight up?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) Mauer does a great job with his pitch selection to our hitters. He plays off of situations and has a great feel for when our hitters are going to be trying to do too much at the plate. Which would be from the 7th inning on in every game. Not too hard to figure out.

Big surprise. Another 0 for night for Wise. He should only be used as a pinch runner at this point but Ozzie knows best right?
