  1. Detroit will finish second in the division and will push hard for wild card....
  2. rowand needs to find himself in the 3 hole.....he is clutch!
  3. what the american league players really wanted to say when asked "Why does the AL keep beating the NL?": 1. AL players run thru and sometimes over the walls to make plays 2. AL doesn't pull the pitcher in late inning one run games just to pinch hit. 3. AL infield pockets grounders that are infield hits while NL loves to make the unnecessary throw often times errors. 4. When AL team is down by 2 runs late in game lets inside pitch hit em and bring tying run to plate instead of getting out of the way. 5. When there is a play at the plate, you can bet your life the guy rounding third is going to plow over the catcher, and that the catcher is going to get in front of the plate, brace and try to pole that runner! 6. AL pitchers face tough 9 men every night not 8. 7. When there is a runner on 1st and the hole is open on the right side, we don't steal and close the hole. 8. AL managers don't pull the best player like NL does...(C Lee pinch hits for Pujols?) when the WS home field advantage is at stake! 9. AL fans are blue collar (Oakland, White Sox, Yankees) NL are white collar my boss has to pay for my ticket & drinks (SF - not really true with this team, Cubs, Mets) 10. AL fans don't chant "we want a hit" (cubs) & whatever nonsense those mets fans chant + hee sop choi (LA)...duh... 11. Our teams are not the Houston Disastros, Philthydelphia Phillies, New York Mess, Cincinnati Rediculous', SD Who's your Padres?... So until you NL people can man up and bring it well that is why we keep getting you! PS it wont be long before Lidge & Beltran and some of your AL style players aren't in the NL anymore! Next time you watch a yankees playoff game count the number of women & children in attendance...0! reason? because winning is the only thing that matters not making someone who really isn't a fan happy...also check the black ring under their eyes...yikes!
  4. QUOTE(Be Good @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) No I wasn't pissed, it would of been awesome to see him get a AB, I got really happy when he was on deck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> wasn't pissed actually voted like a mother too but didn't want some freak injury...as it was he got in the game...i think that Francona was going to pinch run in the 8th if a man wouldve reached and didn't happen..got to play the field managed perfectly except wouldve come immediately with MRivera
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) Second half breakdown... 13 games vs. New York + Boston 7 games vs. LA + Texas 20 games vs. Cleveland + Minny I think we have about 78 games left -- so long as my math is correct. So that's about half. Go .500 against this part of the schedule, a little better against the rest (the 38 other games), and we should be in the playoffs. .500 the rest of the way would put us at 95 wins, which, would be a success. Halfway home, fellas. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You forgot Detroit...complete starting lineup back in place...will be a b**** to be them now...IMO they are better now than both Cleveland & Minny... Scary is that we struggled against Tim Stauffer (SD) & Ervin Santana (ANA)...oh sorry that was because I went to both those games.... Here is a list of the pitchers we didn't get: 1. Only faced Johan Santana 1 time of the 5 played 2. CC Sabathia 1 time in 9 played 3. Didn't face Jamie Moyer (SEA) 4. Didnt face Roy Halladay (TOR) 5. Didn't face Kenny Rogers in 5 played 6. Mark Prior only 1 time in 6 played 7. Bartolo Colon 1 time in 7 played (ANA) 8. No Jake Peavy or Adam Eaton vs SD Outside of Detroit the other teams pitching staffs might as well be farm clubs...colorado, tampa, kc, dodgers, az.... What was it a couple of years ago we got no breaks...we hit every teams win streak....this year so far the exact opposite... GO SOX great first half...
  6. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Now that I sit back and think the Sox caught alot of breaks in the 1 half like when we played the Angels for seven games without Vlad and we always seemed to miss the opposing teams ace in alot of series, but anyways me made the most of the breaks. Lets put this series behind us and go go em. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly! Scary is that we struggled against Tim Stauffer (SD) & Ervin Santana (ANA)...oh sorry that was because I went to both those games.... Here is a list of the pitchers we didn't get: 1. 7. QUOTE(HoosierSox @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) That would be just our luck if we had the best record in baseball and we have to play Oakland in the wild card. I pray that does not happen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A real Sox fan!
  8. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) The bad thing about this situation is that we are no longer invincible. We were faced with a challege we couldn't stand up to, and we will not get another chance to prove that fear wrong. There is a team out there who, as far as we can tell, would "send us home" if we had to play them. That's a sick feeling The good thing is that no team is invincible. The Sox won't play .700 ball all year; no team can. We all got comfortable thinking that, and perhaps the Sox did too. The truth is that they are human and can and will slump like all teams. It is better to learn that now then learn it in october. Even if the Sox return from the break to lose 8 of 10, they will rebound, as all slumping teams do. Unfortunately, there will just be that spector of Oakland haunting us the rest of the way. SFF <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Detroit Tigers lineup is healthy and looks very formidable right now...350-1 to win the world series is a real bargain! Carlos Guillen, Maggs, Irod are all back....look for big 2nd half for Tigers. For what it is worth the AL central division is very strong! Wild card has won last 3 WS..... And when is Florida going to wake up? What is wrong with that team?
  9. PK is a great guy and has always been there for the sox...i do believe that he is the kind of guy that will deliver big in the playoffs...if you remember he was huge in the allstar game in milwaukee...should have been MVP. he really seemed to enjoy the pressure of that game. as for gload, I think he is an everyday 1st baseman, so maybe give that guy a ton of time in the 2nd half against righties...!
  10. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) To me that 7th run for the A's was the key to the ballgame. There is no point in walking Scaturo to load the bases either. Just bring in Politte for the out. Also, why could Kotsay get back to the wall for Iguchi's late drive, but Rowand couldn't protecting a 5-4 Sox lead. It is hard to criticize Rowand's fielding, but that Johnson double that put them ahead should have been a long out. Still, I think Ozzie made the wrong moves to cost the game. It was nice to see us battling, anyway. In addition to Gload, El Duque, and Marte coming back, I'd like to see some more help via a trade. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the slump will not last...this team is way to strong! Nice points about those 3 coming back! the key to the last week for me was contreras...i like the way he didn't go completely south! then we would have had a little issue with the 4th 5th starters.....you know oz has said before that he will never jump on his players for a mental mistake...i found that pretty strange to be true...but that is nice to know that he is that committed to this team!
  11. borchard is not a white sox kind of guy....he is as clutch as a tranny at the junk yard...
  12. ouch...glad i didn't see any of the oakland series...actually i knew better anyway...the only time i enjoyed watching oakland was when they were swept by the reds! does anyone have a good memory against the A's?
  13. thank you division realignment...i don't think i could stand oakland for 18 or 19 games....
  14. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) Not good hear. I'd be happy if they only tied it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> oakland is a nightmare!
  15. Destroyit Tigers....thank you for not getting that run across...ha ha ha! Pudge how is the shower?
  16. not to mention we are even winning games that are historically against the averages...we had more errors and didn't score first...that is really a sign of a good team. check the box scores on sportsline.com only the good teams consistently beat the odds. the yankees & braves have been doing it for years...is that 2 games in a row for us to have an error? we have really been throwing the leather this year. especially crede & uribe. KW's really put this one together...that guy dies trying for sure.
  17. another player we never get out in late innings: Miguel Tejada!
  18. 2 names that come to mind that we just can't get out in the late innings: 1. bernie williams 2. ivan rodriguez
  19. Detroit scored first and we have more errors...that is 70% against us twice...
  20. man i would be standing 2 ft from the bag when MB pitches...don't these opps have a scouting report? its great and all but i mean how stupid are these guys?
