QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Live long enough, and I think you finally come to the conclusion that that the appropriate labels are not Democrat, Republican or Libertarian; liberal or conservative; but Social and Anti-Social. I would classify you more in the anti-social category.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) Using this specific logic here, why are you and I paying to rebuild New Orleans? THEY went into an enviornment that THEY knew was below sea level, and was only a matter of time before the perfect storm came along and destroyed it. No one MADE them live there, they could have lived anywhere. THEY went where they knew it was dangerous, not ME, why should I have to suffer? THEY are the idiots here, not ME, right? Correct. Yes, you rebuild the the infrastructure neccesary... I don't agree with the federal government rebuilding peoples homes that build in high risk areas. If you do live in a high risk area you should purchase insurance. I suggest you look into statistics of the government rebuilding multi-million dollar homes of billionaires (not once, or twice..over three times) that build their mansions directly on beach properties. I'm sure you don't think we should pay for these houses to be rebuilt, right?

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) who wouldn't think he'd do something like that with that name... l sounds like the name of a disturbed cubs fan

QUOTE(Stocking @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) Been smoke free for a year and every friday i feel like i smoked a pack by myself. f*** you, inconsiderate self centered pricks. ... & simple solution, don't go out where there is excessive second hand smoke... it's a fairly simple concept. Remember, you are going to someone else's establishment. You don't own it, it's not like people are coming into your home and smoking. YOU are going to THEIR property, not the other way around. Smoking is legal and if a bar owner wants to allow smoking in THEIR bar YOU should avoid THEIR bar. But i'm sure you feel you have the right to decide what everyone else does in their own home or enterprise. idiot

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) In this regard, I guarantee you it would be completely politicized and end up being decided by who had more money and a stronger lobby. why should it be different than enything else in the city of chicago?

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) In my opinion, the general health of the majority has greater importance over the rights of individuals. The whole point of rights is that they not infringe on the rights and safety of others. That's essentially my point. So in that sense you would agree with madatory maximums on energy usage per household (ruining the enviroment so you can run your TV 20 hours a day is bad for my health), mandatory gas mile usage (banning SUV's, they cause global warming), banning alcahol (it didn't work before but we can handle it now, drunks are dangerous), mandatory healthy meals enforced by the government (obesity is a HUGE drain on society), ect... I think you probably get what I am trying to say.

QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) Talk about an idea whose time has come. I don’t even find the same tired, discredited arguments in this thread that one usually hears – that second-hand smoke isn’t dangerous; that everyone in the city would just up and drive to the suburbs and stop patronizing their neighborhood taverns; that it’s socialism run amuck (well, maybe a couple keep trying that out); and my favorite – if you don’t like to work in a toxic environment, just go find another job, all the many thousands of you mopes trying to make a living in the hospitality industry. I’m sorry to hear Mayor Daley supporting “compromises” and making that ridiculous statement that we don’t want to antagonize any industry. He doesn’t even have to be out in front on this. New York City has already led the way with no economic disaster resulting. Yesterday I called my alderman, O’Connor, to give him my opinion and see where he stood; I called the sponsoring alderman, Smith, just to put in my “atta’boy” for all his work; and I phoned to check out a club where I’d really like to go hear some music, but they allow smoking. Maybe next year I’ll be able to go spend my money at that club. actually it is basically a socialist style legislation, sorry. As far as the club that you won't attend because of smoking, good for you. You should show use your ecenomic power to change what bars do and don't allow smoking. I think that is a better solution than imposing your will over everyone else. Actuall, I hate when people talk on cell phones around me, but I wouldn't suggest banning them everywhere I go.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) Yes but when you take a drink not everyone else is forced to do so. if you hate smoke only frequent smoke free bars.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) 100 Degree Feavor on Tuesday. 100 degree fever... actually, i would suggest attending class (if your spelling skills are any indication).

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) Ok who hits in the #4 spot then? That's 40HR and 100RBI's your losing of production right there. Who else on the Sox or in the FA market is going to replace that? And I'm getting sick of this payroll bashing. The fact is, the payroll has increased for the last 5 years in a row at least. With a record # of Attendance for a while, there's no way, it ain't gonna get increased. beat me to it
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) No. Assuming we don't get to the World Series, yet another payroll increase is unlikely. We don't need to spend the 11-12 mill on Paul Konerko. Give me someone who can hit the 3 hole please. ok, then who hits cleanup lol Also, we had great attendance numbers this year... I wouldn't be suprised to see a bump in the payroll. Reinsdorf knows letting Paulie walk will be yet another one of his PR blunders (that is unless Konerko is asking for an unreasonable contract).

QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) He does seem to be the only major league hitter in our lineup right now. Without him, it would be truly ugly. exactly
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Frank got injured how? Thome got injured how? ?? I thought you were saying if Nomar didn't have to play the field he would be able to avoid injury. Then I said "he got injured on the base path". I never mentioned Thomas or Thome. As far as taking a risk on a injury prone player... sure, if they are willing to sign a reasonable contract.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Mariners would love to get out of Beltre's contract. true I'm not sure we would want that contract either. He is having a horrible year after they started testing for ShamMe's special vitamins(coincidence, maybe). He really only had 1 good year, other than that he puts up numbers comparable to Crede's.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) I do as a DH. I'm sure he can. Didn't he get injured running the bases? DH's still have to do that.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) And that's why I'd try to ship Iguchi and a prospect to Seattle for A. Beltre. Hey, why not just trade for Ichiro lol
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) I don't have any faith in Thomas staying healthy for the rest of his career. I don't either
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) I'd take Nomar at least as a DH. You think Nomar can stay healthy? I don't. sure, sign Nomar if he'll take the minimum.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) But with PK in line for a fat contract atleast a 9-11 million per year contract. thats a lot of loot, but we need him.
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) Lyle Overbay will hopefully be wearing a White Sox uni next year. He's not a free agent also, whats with the whole Overbay obsession (it's not just you)? He's good, but not that good. I don't think Milwaukee will just give him to us for some low level prospects.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Pathetic, praying for Cleveland to lose. how bout it
