  1. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) did u see the upper deck kinda... it looked about 65% full on TV
  2. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) And we still had only 28K attending on a Sunday night for a national TV game The excuses are just not cutting it anymore the sunday crowd looked pretty good to me
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) great post, real informative thanks, i know... i'm here to enlighten your pal, mr_genius
  4. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Besides, after Maddux found out what the deal was, he joked that he had never used a spitball, but he used a "sweatball" against Tony Gwynn, and he still couldn't get him out. haha, thats funny
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) "Who's Mark Buehrle?" maddux needs to retire, i could probably go 3 for 4 against him.
  6. remember, El Dookie...im mean Duque has always been solid in the playoffs. he'll probably suck for the sox though.
  7. I'm not sold on McCarthy yet. He has been struggling in AAA and got rocked his last big league start. I know most of you guys are have a high opinoin of this guy, he just hasn't shown me much yet. ps. spring training deosn't count... yes, he pitched well against the cubs (but who doesn't?)
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) I hope we destroy old man Maddux for his Buehrle comment. what did he say? i know buehrle accused maddux of cheatin'
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) ESPN Insider has an interesting feature where it rates and tells all of the pitches every MLB pitcher throws. When I have time, I'll be posting these for the opposing teams so Sox fans can get a good grasp on what the opposing pitcher will be featuring. Tonight, Jeff Weaver... Also, here is a key to these rankings... do you have the ratings of Garland, Buehrle and Garcia?
  10. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) I hate complimenting the Cubs as much as any Sox fan...but I think he will have a hall of fame career....and I would want him. I stand by what I said...I'd rather have Prior. When Prior first came up I would have agreed with you completely.... however, he has really been proven to be fragile. If he could stay healthy (which i doubt he can) he would be a top notch ace
  11. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Every advanced nation at the time was capable of tracking the capsule. The radio transmissions are trackable. If there were no transmissions coming from the moon, but we were pretending there were, the Soviet Union would have called us on that immediately. Therefore, if we did go to the moon, why would we not have landed? That also makes no sense. good point
  12. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) it was obvious that there was much less gravity. i guess they could fake the lack of gravity with wires strapped to the actors/astronauts who knows
  13. QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) I don't mean to sound like Crazy Carl at all, but did it look like they actually went to the moon. For some reason I just don't believe that we ever went to the moon. I don't know why I think that, I just do. i've wondered about that too i saw some thing on the history channel about the moon landing... there was some compelling evidence as to never landing on the moon. i'm not saying we didn't land on the moon, just sayin we might not have mr_genius = crazier than carl
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) You know, that "drag queen" idea would work, with a little tweaking. Get a dozen HOT young scantilly clad young ladies to drag the infield and call them "The Drag Queens". i agree they only other improvement would be to finally get all those seats green
  15. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) I'm not sure what you're asking, or whether you understood my post. Yes, people used to believe the sun revolved around the earth. This has been proven false for centuries. Anyone who still believed this would indeed be ignorant. Belief is one thing. Scientific evidence another. Carl is choosing to ignore the most convincing form of evidence - existence. Fossils exist. Dinosaurs existed. We have the bones to prove they did. Since the fossil record cannot be denied, Carl chooses to invent a conspiracy theory in order to validate his religious belief. The accepted norm is irrelevant. Facts are not dependent on opinion. Some things are simply not open for debate. I am right handed regardless of what anyone else says, thinks or believes. Fossils have been found all over the world, by hundreds of scientists, for over a century. The findings have been meticulously documented and verified by hundreds of other scientists. Claiming it's all a giant conspiracy is beyond ignorance; it's childlike. Abortion is irrelevant as well. Abortion is an action, a procedure. Any action is open to debate - from wearing seatbelts to alcohol use to abortion. Evidence is subject to interpretation, but it cannot be denied. Carl is manipulating his own mind by saying an entire field of science is fraudulant. Perhaps naive is a better word than ignorant, but Carl is obviously ignorant of the field of paleontology, or he wouldn't make the statements he does. burn
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) There is a story/ledgend about how that famous shot of Fisk waving at the ball happened. Supposedly, the guy working the camera had been told to cut to something else, but was distracted by a rat running at his feet. Consequently, the camera didn't move and was locked on Fisk the whole time. So, one of the best sports TV shots supposedly happened by pure accident. I seem to rememeber that the camera moves with Fisk as he hops down the line. Then again everything surroundiong Fenway is a great story or tale. The guy who gave us the tour of Fenway told us that tale, maybe I have the details wrong. Anyone else heard this? yea, i heard that too
  17. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) It's ironic that Carl calls fans ignorant of the game, talking about a subject they know nothing about. How does he explain the fossil record? Does anyone know what he's said about those huge skeletons in the Field Museum (assuming they're still there)? haha! how bout it! people who don't think dinosaurs existed are very very ignorant :banghead but who cares, carl can believe in whatever he wants
  18. i disagree with the notion that no would watch a White Sox world series... The ratings would not be that bad. There would be huge ratings in chicago (3rd largest market) , so high ratings would depend on what NL team we would play. but we are getting way ahead of ourselves. lets see if we can win a playoff series before we start thinking about world series ratings jeez
  19. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) If we give up minor prospects, what is not to like again? WHy do you care if JR s willing to spend to help put us over the top? WOuld you prefer a WS this year and then we have some problems 2 years out or would yu prefer us contending but bowing out this year and then being solid two years out but with no chance to compete We finally have some stars aligned in our favor with the SPankees maybe not even competing and the Red Sox is similar trouble. Do you really believe two years from today we will have the same golden opportunity to win it all? YOu think Steinbrenner will let that happen? I want to win now and this is not a big deal towards making that happen. And please go ahead and project who we should trade for before you say no to Omar. Give me some names please....and be realistic. Do you really think signing Vizquel will make that much of a differance? I doubt it will... i think it would be a downgrade from Uribe (and I am not a Uribe fan). I think Vizquel will finish the season hitting about .270 and his defensive range is less than Uribe. If we want to make a trade I think it should be one that will put us over the top. As far as what prospects we would give up, it would matter on the caliber of player we were obtaining. As far as vizquel, if we had to eat his contract i would suspect the Sox would be willing to give up nothin to obtain him. They would proably recieve some token minor league player who has no chance of making the big leagues.
  20. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) mr genius Where/how should we upgrade our offense then? Please educate us. You know the concerns with any trade - chemistry, salary, age, prospects reqd etc I am TIRED of seeing this franchise piss away a great year. That 2000 season where Schueler did nothing except bring in Charles Johnson still hurts me so much I cry every time I think of that disaster of a post season. Do you realize if this Sox line up went against the Twinkies or Angels in the playoffs, they would most likely get destroyed in a short series with their ace (Santana or Colon) going twice? We just got raped by Shaun Estes tonight. well, i don't think trading for vizquel would improve our line-up that much. do you really want an old man with a 3 year contract on the team? that would lock our hands on future signings and hurt the sox in the short and long run (IMO). Do I think our current lineup is optimal? no. do I want us to go for it this year? of course. I think we should wait a little and see exactly who is going to be available. also, today was just one game... the sky is not falling. Frank should give our lineup a big boost, Dye has been warming up, Paulie will raise his average, Everett is having a good season, Pods and Iguchi are playing great. no need to make any bad trades
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Why wouldn't you want Omar? because of his age, his contract, current team chemistry and the players we would haveto give up to get him. thats all
  22. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) They showed one of the girls on top of the Sox dugout. All I can say is WOW. how bout it one of the few highlights of the game
