At some point you gotta give the kid some sort of shot when it matters. Let's see if he can step up.

Methinks it's time for ol' Matty to sit down.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 08:37 PM) Wow. I don't buy that. He's better then average, but not elite. He can be elite with a good defense in front of him, which he'll have.

NICE CQ. JD. A nice double... or dare I say it a park job would suffice right now.

Krush, you've pretty much echoed my sentiments (especially regarding Huselius)... as it stands now we obviously can't nab him, but if can somehow move Bulin we might be in shape. As it stands this team is already tenfold better with the additions of Campbell (very good, he'll get his 60 points from the blueline AND he has red hair), and Huet (just great, he's a legit Vezina candidate.

Ok. Even I'll admit it's nice seeing Pauly taking some BP.

The Penguins have made an offer to Jaromir Jagr. That is so kickass... just the thought of him finishing where he belongs.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 07:21 PM) It's so weird how CQ and Crede struggle mightily against LHP, but destroy righties. ESPECIALLY Crede. What's he have, like 6 hits against lefties this year?

I just knew AJ was going to get a hit.

The Hawks have to find a way to move 'Bulin so they can make a run at Huselius just to get another offensive specialist out here.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 06:57 PM) I'd like our guys to implement the mind set of going all the way with Lee all night. That's hot.

Tough matchup, but you know we're getting 6 strong out of our starter...

Freddy Garcia
QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) This is from the Detroit Free Press: Obviously there's a huge question mark regarding Garcia's health. But I at least hope we attend this workout. I am worried about Floyd and Danks in September. I mean Floyd's already gone well over his career high in ML innings and we're only in July. In addittion, I would have to question your sanity if you would rather have Vazquez start a playoff game for you than a healthy(ish) Garcia. I do have my doubts about his health so I'm not going to get excited untill I hear he can consistently throw 91-93 at this workout. Well. That takes the cake. It's been done. I don't think I've read a less accurate post on Soxtalk. There's a lot of competition, but you, my friend, are the clear cut winner.

I have a feeling Barker will be given to any team willing to take Khabibulin.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) Without looking at a thing, this is what I would do for this year Kane-Towes-Ladd Buff-Lang-Havlat Sharp-Bolland-Skille? Beach-Burish-Eager Keith-Seabs Soup-Wiz Sopel-Barker Huet Crawford The Craig Adams trade looks like a huge mistake. I know it's nitpicking, but I hate when people misspell his name. I'd assume that the hawks will be able to move Khabby. We need another winger on this team badly.

Well, regardless we did well. We didn't get in on the Hossa insanity, and hopefully can find some other ballers to fill that role.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) Once they trade Khabby, they'll actually gain another $1 million- in essence, that signing of Huet will be a wash. They are keeping Khabby. And they would actually only gain another .6 million if they dealt him... I don't think there's a taker.

I think DT screwed something up, or had a deal for Khabby in place that was pulled back after Huet accepted. Goaltenders should not make up 1/5 of your payroll.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) It amazes me though... how the hell can you give an 8 yr contract ?? That's nothing... Wait, they get longer... Seriously, we just locked up a franchise blueliner, the type that nets you a Stanley Cup, a captain... for what amounts to a steal at 7 million per. Look at Chelios playing well into his mid-40s, and Cambell will be just 37 in the final year of this deal. I'm very fine with this.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) TSN says the Hawks are pushing more now for Redden then Campbell. Not surprising. They want to make a splash, but they have to stay reasonable. We have extensions for Kane and Toews to worry about down the road.
