2008 MLB All Star Game Thread
This farce needs to end. They need to call it right now and have the remaining players in the lineups hit in an impromptu hr derby. 3 swings each.

I'm not too happy CQ has had to play an entire game's worth of baseball not for the Chicago White Sox.

I like how after an All Star Game is called in a tie... the "solution" is to make the game matter in a big time way.

These boys are hitting with RISP like the Chicago White Sox.

Goin' to Vegas
Don't go to Vegas. My parents took my sister and I to Vegas when we were 9-12 and we were bored out of our minds. It's not a family place, and you don't like gambling, so it'll be pissing your money away. Once we did the MGM Grand amusement park twice we wanted to go.

Bears sign RB Kevin Jones
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) Excellent news there. Now if the Bears can get Simms this will be pretty decent thus far. That's my sentiment exactly.

Josh Hamilton Presents the 2008 Home Run Derby
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 11:53 AM) People hate Giambi, a juicer who cleaned up and pretty much admitted what he did, yet Hamilton is a hero after nearly killing himself on something way more dangerous. I don't get it. The fake mustaches in New York seem to suggest people are starting to get over Giambi.

After yesterdays game
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) If you're gonna sit there and two batters in a row, who are supposed to be your best, watch strike three, you deserve to get "shown up". At least swing at the damn ball. That.

Odds of Buehrle Going to the Hall?
In my book, as much as I love Buehrle, he's not a Hall of Famer. I think Hall of Fame, Buehrle just doesn't fit the bill.

Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread
Well, the signings of Jones will be nice... he's a legitimate talent if he can stay healthy. Now if the Chris Simms rumors could just come true, I'd start getting excited.

Favre to the Jets
I don't see why the Packers, after all that Favre has done for them, would not release him. Way to create a messy divorce for no reason. They'd be smartest to take him back, as he gives them the best chance to win a Superbowl, but to be absolute dicks and not release him is even lamer.

2008 General Election Discussion Thread
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) lol now the New Yorker is part of the vast right win conspiracy. you guys are so off on this one i don't even know what to tell you all Wow, you're REALLY reading into this aren't you. I said "what the f***??" because it was incredibly poor judgement. It doesn't take a "Mr. Genius" to know that some less-educated folks will look at that cover and not see it as a joke... and they certainly won't open it up to read the pro-Obama content.

Things to do in Chicago
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 08:33 AM) I think he is drinking, because he probably meant Lincoln Park. Yeah, he must have meant Lincoln Park. By far my favorite place to get crazy.

Things to do in Chicago
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 05:11 PM) Giordano's has slipped now that it has locations everywhere, it's hit or miss. If you find one that's top notch though, it beats the pants off of anywhere else. IMO. The one in Oak Brook is top notch.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
They better not make that deal for Neil. You do it for Vermette and enjoy him as your "next' Marty Havlat, though not as talented. Ridding ourselves of Bulin, and adding Barker in some capacity to get Vermette would be nice.

It looks to me like they are celebrating a homerun by their new ace.

Rumor: Sox Interested in Daniel Cabrera
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) Two years older than Floyd, whats your point? It's incredibly naive to think a guy like Cabrera, a guy with world class stuff, couldn't succeed in a different environment, especially when Cooper has had insane success with pitchers with poor control but plus stuff. Leo Mazzone > Don Cooper

Rumor: Sox Interested in Daniel Cabrera
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) This line HAD to be said somewhere in the Gavin Floyd trade thread. You are aware that Cabrera is 27 right? He's not going to get a whole hell of a lot better.

f*** this waste of talent.

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) If that's the case, I'm not so sure we'd be able to get him. We'd probably have to give up Poreda and I think he'll end up being the better SP/RP in this league then Richard will be. I think your posting privileges need to be revoked after that one. Duchscherer is, right now, better than any other SP in the American League. Unless you have HUGE aspirations for Poreda, and if you do you might be as well, just plain crazy. Poreda+Fields+whatever sounds like a plan to me. We'd have the best rotation in baseball by a mile.

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
Duchscherer is my favorite pitcher in baseball. I don't think the Sox have the pieces, but if they do, making this happen would be phenomenal.
