QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) How can a Blackhawks fan pull for the Red Wings? Critic never ceases to amaze me. Agreed. This is worse than rooting for the Packers as a Bears fan to me.- Beckham Huzzaaaah!
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) See Gordon Beckham LIVE!! Tomorrow 11 AM CT ESPN: NCST vs UGA in a Super-Regional Playoff game! That will be DVR'd for sure.- Beckham Huzzaaaah!
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) Like I said, college stats should be taken with a grain of salt. Beckham is the better athlete and the more hard-nosed player. From the video I have seen and the games I have watched, Smoak is the much better natural and pure hitter. The ball flies off of his bat. His power easily translates to the pro game. Plus, he has 40+ homerun power from both sides of the plate. However, Beckham's power most likely won't translate to the bigs. He might have a couple 20+ homer season, but I see him sticking in the 15-20 range. His swing has more flaws in it, and I absolutely hate his high leg kick when he swings. This is not to say Beckham is a bad hitter, as he is good. All I am saying is that Smoak is the better hitter overall, and is that impact bat we have lacked in our farm system for so long. Beckham is the better athlete and provides more speed and such. Beckham wasn't a bad pick, but I would have prefered Smoak. Ok, that's an acceptable and well built response. However, Smoak fell to 11 for a reason...- Beckham Huzzaaaah!
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) Gordon Beckham actually had better offensive numbers in almost every category than Smoak did in 2008. Check it... Beckham: .397 BA, 24 HR, 65 RBI, 85 R, .781 SLG, .505 OBP Smoak: .383 BA, 23 HR, 72 RBI, 63 R, .757 SLG, .505 OBP And Beckham is a far better overall athlete, able to play multiple positions, probably. So tell me again how it is that Smoak is so much more game-changing than Beckham? Because BearSox says so! He needs not fact nor statistic to back his claim. Just hatred of life itself!- Beckham Huzzaaaah!
I've never seen a topic that BearSox was happy about. No surprise he's unhappy here. Move on to the next topic you hate man!- Official Draft Thread
Here's hoping Hicks sucks...- Official Draft Thread
This thread is hilarious. So many people who've never seen either player in person with such strong feelings. Beckham is a fine pick and would be one of the most fundamentally sound players on the White Sox RIGHT NOW.- Beckham Huzzaaaah!
QUOTE (TCQ @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 01:51 PM) Very happy about this SS with some pop Love it. f*** Smoak.- Official Draft Thread
Almost party time...- White Sox sign Esteban Loaiza/Option Wassermann
I love this signing...- LET'S MAKE A LIST III ~ FUNNIEST TV COMEDIES EVER!
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:31 AM) As I've been working on my list I realized a similar situation. I appreciate , for example, The Simpsons and South Parks position in TV comedies, but never really liked them too much, not enough to make my top 20. I'm listing my top 20 favorites, I'm not trying to offer some critical approach. I did a mixture. My tops were my favorites, and then I had to include some that I have to admit were revolutionary or just downright unstoppable. I've seen episodes of all that I included though.- LET'S MAKE A LIST III ~ FUNNIEST TV COMEDIES EVER!
List sent. That was easy.- Simpsons' Voice Actors Get More Money
The Simpsons has been awful this entire decade... why not extend it a few more years?- Bulls do not hire Doug Collins as head coach
It'd be great if the Bulls would hire Saunders.- Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
Let's chew on that comparison. On paper Rose measures up better than Paul in almost every aspect... ridiculous.- Rumor: Hillary Clinton to Concede Dem Nomination
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) posted this in the Obama thread, but cnn.com has a story from Clinton's camp saying it's not true and she intends to continue That'd be more in line with what that moron has been doing thus far.- Soxtalk Keeper Thread
This league is pretty ridiculous with the difference between 1st and 9th being 15 games.- Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) Maybe the Bulls can sign Arenas hah get the old Arenas and Hughes connection together and draft Beasely ha Gilbert Arenas on the Bulls would be the biggest mistake of Paxson's career. He'll lose you more games than he'll win you...- 2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread
That game last night was purely enjoyable. The Red Wings definitely might be sluggish tomorrow night with their old legs and the fact that they were already picturing themselves with Lord Stanley's Cup in the air... Pittsburgh scoring so late to tie it, coupled with Fleury standing on his head, just might take the wind out of the proverbial sales. I'd have to think the Pens are going to be highly favored at home, and hopefully they can force a Game 7. Fantastic hockey. Sid the Kid really struggled to establish himself last night though... pretty much a non-factor.- Blackhawks Offseason Thread
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) Jagr? f*** no Agreed. The Hawks should have two things on their mind. 1) Figure out the future at goaltending 2) Get Marion Hossa in here- Wade to Bulls rumors
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:40 AM) I can't imagine they'd actually do the Wade + #2 for the #1. But if I'm the Heat, I at least think about Wade + #2 for #1 + future 1st round picks (2, say) + Deng + others, IF I'm fairly certain I won't be able to hold onto Wade for more than the next two years. They'll almost certainly have a fairly high pick next year, too, and Rose + Deng + 2009 lottery pick + other 1st rounders is not a bad nucleus for a team that can't avoid a pretty significant makeover. I'm not sure I'd do it, but I'd think about it. There's a big pr hit, of course, but they didn't seem to be drawing well this season, anyway. I remember one Heat-Cavs game where they had an astonishing number of empty seats. It shocked me that they couldn't get people to go to a game like that, if just to watch the Wade-LeBron show. Supposedly the Heat really want Kirk Hinrich, so you get some of your salary matching right there, and fill around. Reports are that Pat Riley is so turned off by Michael Beasley that he wants to ensure he gets Rose. The Bulls could really luck out here. Hinrich Tyrus Noc #1 for Wade #2 That sets up a lineup of Noah Beasley Deng Gordon Wade with Gooden/Hughes/Sefolosha off the bench. If Wade can stay healthy (big IF) that vaults the Bulls to the top of the Eastern Conference I would have to think... A move for a taller shooting guard could really make the bulls interesting. You'd have to think perhaps a Gordon for Maggette deal could be arranged as well, giving the Bulls a sick look. Noah Beasley Deng Maggette Wade Then use some of your left over cash to sign a Dasagnia Diop to be your backup C, and you have a nasty looking team that can go deep into the playoffs, and will only get better...- Hamilton
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) he might be better than A-Rod right now... he might be anyway.- Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 01:12 AM) In the "Trade for Brand" scenario, the line-up probably ends up looking like: PG Rose SG Thabo/Hughes/Gordon (in that order) SF Deng PF Brand C Noah I've been an advocate of this move for a while now. I'd be more of a fan of making a deal for Okafor, because his age is more in alignment with this mini rebuild.- Neat Map
