  1. QUOTE (shipps @ May 27, 2008 -> 10:30 AM) I know Steve.I was joking.Gawsh. I get so defensive when we speak about my Carlos. My sorry!
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:14 AM) his career numbers. Done.
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ May 27, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) There are a ton of people that were born in California and dont speak english. Right, but that's not true of Carlos Quentin, who is the person we are talking about...
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:34 AM) Carlos Quentin saids "De nada" Or "You're welcome" since he was born in California and speaks English as his primary language.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 27, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) Healthy? Yes. A good option? Maybe not. He's hitting .217 right now at Charlotte, with zero power, for a stunningly low .561 OPS. And while he may have more range and slightly better glove work than Swisher in CF, his arm is weak. I'd rather see Wise stay with the team, or call up Brad Eldred who has 18 freakin' home runs and 49 RBI in just 182 at bats, if you are going to DL Paulie. That's what I want.
  6. I think it's obvious that he should be on the DL.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ May 25, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) No big deal, IMO. Wasn't driving or a threat to anyone. Just breaking the law and doing drugs. No big deal.
  8. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 27, 2008 -> 08:31 AM) Bob Probert He should never have been near a top 20 list for Chicago athletes. He was better when he played for Detroit, and was never dominant at anything other than fighting. In the top 100 list of Chicago athletes, Bob Probert would not make the cut. OMG! HE FOUGHT TIE DOMI THERE'S BLOOD! Sorry, I am just truly truly offended that Bob Probert of all players made your top 20 list. My lord, how you could rank him over Denis Savard? (sticking with hockey) That's truly absurd. Bob Probert in your top 20 may be the worst decision you've made in your life. To put it in perspective, if I had to choose between invading Iraq all over again or putting Bob Probert on my top 20 list of Chicago athletes, I'd have our country starting this war all over. That last part was a joke, but I think you get the point.
  9. QUOTE (OilCan @ May 26, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) Meh...where's my Harley? Regular Gas, Luling TX = $3.89/gallon. Up 30 cents from last month. 4.15/gallon is on the low side out this away.
  10. I think Google goofed this one up but don't really give a s***. It's funny how you all can take such a harsh stance one way or the other. "I'm boycotting Google" - ok, that's your call, use an inferior search engine. "You're an idiot boycotting Google is dumb wtf I'm pissed at you" - take it easy, how does it affect you?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 23, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) So I'm watching Caddyshack for the first time, straight through, since I was a kid. And I must say, this movie isn't very funny. You are insane. I laugh outloud multiple times everytime I watch it.
  12. I've got an idea. Let's delete this thread, thusly giving no recognition whatsoever to this horrible article.
  13. I'll be happy with either one!
  14. but Beasley is sick as s*** too...
  15. I'm leaning towards Rose...

A lot of people in here really missed the entire point of Signs. The title alone has two meanings. Signs = crop signs, Signs = things with greater meaning. Boy has asthma. Lungs closed so gas can't kill him. Little girl crazy about water, hence dusty water left all over house. The guy doesn't say WHAT it is that is the aliens' weakness, just that they figured out the weakness. Phoenix swings away and hits the ALIEN, alien falls and bumps into furniture and water drops on him, which acts like acid. Light goes on, morgan smashes all the water glasses. This movie was quite brilliant, and folks who think the ending is laughable should go back and watch the whole thing from start to finish. Oh, and the party video was awesome. Phoenix's reaction was incredible. Yeah, if you get the events out of order, I could see why the ending might not make sense, but if you have all the info, there's nothing to complain about. To each his own though. I'm not the least bit religious, so I wasn't offended, and I can suspend disbelief with the best of them as well.
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ May 23, 2008 -> 08:43 AM) One of those games was in a doubleheader... so they only played 7 innings. And Poreda pitched the entire game. Can't pitch more innings than a complete game. Good to get all the facts...

I'm calling out everyone who visits the site today (Friday, May 23) to vote for CQ 5 times or more. It won't take you long.
  19. I wish Swisher would start getting some f***ing hits and stop worrying about the color of his hair.
  20. QUOTE (mreye @ May 23, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) A concert booking that same night? This makes little sense. That's 6:05 ET, right? The game gets ovetr at 9:00 if they're lucky. Everyone's out of there by 9:30/9:45. Does this concert start at 10:00? What about extra innings?
  21. QUOTE (scenario @ May 20, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...b&fext=.jsp Carolina League - Aaron Poreda, Winston-Salem 2-0, 0.69 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 13.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 7 SO Poreda was flat-out dealing in wins over Lynchburg and Kinston last week. The 2007 first-round Draft pick shut out the Hillcats over six innings, allowing just three hits while striking out five in a 4-2 win. He nearly matched that effort Saturday against the Indians, giving up three runs -- one earned -- and four hits while striking out two in seven innings. Poreda has now won his last four starts for the Warthogs and lowered his ERA to a paltry 2.19 on the season. Still only averaging 6.5 IP over those 2 games...
  22. I first read about his tribulations in an ESPN.com magazine article like 4 years ago. Something about the fallen hero. He was still addicted and everything. He's one of the best stories and an inspiration to anyone with substance abuse issues.
