  1. Good stuff from NY Newsday today. Sounds like they want to go for it this year... Am I (and are other) Sox fans undervaluing what we could get for Jose Contreras. I feel he's worthless, but if NL teams like him, I pray we can deal him along with Buehrle/Dye.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 11:28 PM) I needed that laugh. Thank you. it's what i do...
  3. Hmmm, good players or bad ones? tough f***in choice.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) Supposedly Minaya said he will not give up Milledge or Gomez in a Buerhle deal. Then he doesn't get Buehrle. Beggers can't be choosers. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 10:37 AM) Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. Everyone needs to calm down. First off all, if we have a choice between Milledge and Gomez....I'm taking Gomez hands DOWN. Here is why. The kid is a freak. Just like Jose Reyes. In fact Reyes actually came out and said that Carlos Gomez is faster than he is, and for someone that watches a lot of Mets baseball....he's right. Just based on that fact alone, Gomez can disrupt a lot of pitchers rhythm...and he's a lead-off man that the White Sox have been missing for the last two seasons, he just needs time to develop. Another factor is that Buehrle is a free agent next year. There is no way that Omar gives up quality young prospects only to screw himself in the end. The only way the Mets make this deal is if they can sign Buehrle to a long-term deal and not lose him to free agency. You can put your money on that. You can be the fastest guy in the world, and if you can't hit (Gomez, career .279 in the MINORS), then running fast isn't really going to make a difference.

  6. pssst. Kenny. Start selling... You'll still be a big man if you admit its time to sell... being good next year vs. partying with old stiffs this year? psssst. please. please sell Mr. KW.
  7. I will say until my face turns blue that Milledge > Gomez. For the love of God, Milledge > Gomez.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 10:30 AM) Oh and Justin Upton is no longer a SS, he was moved to CF due to his horrid defense at the position. 'Tis the way of the Upton, all stick, no glove... but a lot of stick.
  9. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 09:51 AM) After reading some of these trade ideas, I now realize how easy this will be to turn the Sox around. Buehrle to the Mets for Reyes and Wright. Dye to the Dodgers for Billingsley, Broxton, Elbert and Martin. Contreras to the Phillies for Utley, Hamels and Rowand. Uribe to the Marlins for Cabrera and Willis. Iguchi to Texas for Gagne, Otsuka and Texiera. Konerko to San Diego for their bullpen. Fields to Seattle for Ichiro (insist on contract extension) Keep Thome. We don't want too much turnover. man, just stop posting.
  10. Cubs have been playing better without Barrett of late... addition by subtraction here.
  11. go to truveo and search for will ferrel landlord and laugh your ass off.
  12. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) What is the Mets record in June? The White Sox hold the upper hand in the market. They need not sell. They potentially could have a ton of picks just by holding on to the pieces they have as none of the players will accept arbitration. Could they not get three additional number one's and three sandwich picks just by holding onto these players? Signability is an issue with all draft picks but you can gamble more with the picks as well as pick up a pick in the next draft if a guy does not sign. How'd Jon Adkins work out as well as the Jon Berry? Would the Mets give up Wright for Buerhle, probably not but that is where KW should start. Prospects can fizzle out. Proven starters are worth a-lot more especially one's that are signed for five years and are 28 years old. The abiltiy to sign Buerhle increases his value greatly. You ask for Wright, and O probably hangs up and refuses to negotiate further.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Am I the only one on the planet who does not like Guinness? I too, believe it is disgusting.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:33 PM) I would have zero problem with that type of deal. In fact I'd be pretty thrilled. same here
  15. Talking with a buddy who lives in New Jersey and has been listening to the sports radio talk... it seems that the Mets want Buehrle, but only if they can sign him to an extension. It seems that the radio personalities and fans have soured on Milledge/Pelfrey... and the consensus over there is they would be very happy with the following trade. Buehrle for Pelfrey Milledge Humber According to "sources" (remember, this is all from sports radio) is that the Mets would have no problem giving those three up for Buehrle, as long as an extension were signed. He also said its in all the papers that the Mets really want Dye in a deal as well, because there is no telling when Moises Alou will be back. Just an FYI. basically the only thing holding this up is a mark buehrle extension, but that could be a HUGE issue.
  16. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 09:30 AM) IIRC, Konerko did not take less to come here than any of the other offers. On the surface it appeared to be so and was definitely good PR, but when you consider taxes on all of the offers, they came out to be the same. I believe there was 1 less year offered with the Sox than the Angels... I may be wrong though.
  17. Why doesn't he just save himself some time and only prepare to be a seller... I think he and Ozzie are the only ones in baseball who believe the Sox can turn this around (if Ozzie even does).
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 12:21 PM) sounds pretty reasonable. On a side note, I always liked JoBo. That makes one of us!
  19. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 12:28 PM) I think Buehrle for Milledge and Pelfry would be a very fair trade. The Mets get Buehrle for 2-3 months and first dibs on him, or 2 draft picks. We get a talented OF and a SP with some good stuff. exactly. the mets either get buehrle for 2-3 months along with 2 draft picks... OR they re-sign buehlre and have no worries...
  20. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 12:31 AM) I don't know, but when I was just flipping by, I think I saw Elisha Cuthbert. Is it her? If so, I might have to watch more of it No, it wasn't her, but as I was watching I did remark to my wife that she looks very similar to Cuthbert. This show is solid, and does a good job of ending on a note that makes you want to come back next week.
  21. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 11:48 AM) I'm going to go ahead and agree with Kalapse that Byrnes probably would be just a little reticent to do that trade. Dude, if the DBacks put Upton on the maaket they could get a ton more than Dye. Collaspo for Dye might be possible, but I doubt it. And Broadway has an 86 MPH fatsball. He's not a #3 starter in the International League, let alone the NL. I feel sorry for Kenny Williams at this point. Stupid People are expecting him to trade Buehrle and Dye for 10 of Baseball America's top 20 prospects. Fixed that for ya... Justin Upton won't be traded, especially for any trash the White Sox might be trying to take out.
  22. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) yeah. i've looked at a few mets boards and the prevailing wisdom is that milledge for buehrle straight up is what's most fair. of course, they are idiots and fools so who cares what they think.
  23. still on pace for 130 rbi...
  24. A move that will never see the Major League roster.
