QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) GameCube released moved back to May 8. They better have f***ing accurate rosters and the new Busch Stadium then. Releasing a baseball game in May is a f***up. depending on the gamecube to keep you happy is f***ed up.
  5. I'm just utterly shocked they were chosen... Page 2 WORST FRANCHISE: BLACKHAWKS By George Johnson Special to Page 2 From bad to Wirtz. "Sad?" says one who has watched this once-proud franchise fall into disrepair, the tragic victim of neglect and poor planning. "It's not sad. It used to be sad. Nobody cares enough to be sad anymore." Other NHL franchises are poorly run. But for consistently gruesome seasons, the Chicago Blackhawks are a tough act to follow. Yes, the Original Six Chicago Blackhawks. The Hawks of Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Glenn Hall, Pierre Pilote, Keith Magnusson, Iron Mike, Eddie the Eagle, Denis Savard, Doug Wilson, Chris Chelios. The same. Blackhawks: Past Five Years Year Record Points 2006 24-42-13 61 2004 20-43-11-8 59 2003 30-33-13-6 79 2002 41-27-13-1 96 2001 29-40-8-5 71 Last winning season: '01-'02 Last playoff season: '01-'02 Bad drafting. Bad hires. Bad trades. Archaic thinking. Stagnation. And Bob Pulford, doing a pretty fair impersonation of a Madame Tussaud waxwork taken out of the showroom to make room for a newer model, still out on display, overseeing another disasterous season. (Ol' Pully, by the way, has been installed as either coach or co-coach on FIVE separate occasions. Hmmm, notice a pattern developing here?) There's no truth whatsoever to the slanderous rumor that the Hawks have, in fact, suspended operations. It only seems that way. The biggest paper in town, the Tribune, doesn't send a beat writer on the road anymore. The electronic media has forgotten they exist. The season-ticket base is around 5,000. That's a rough estimation. Not even Indiana Jones could unearth the actual number. Watching the Hawks organization now is sort of like seeing Mae West, sagging badly and caked with more mascara than Tammy Faye Bakker, oogling all the beefcake late in her life. From a different time, a bygone sensibility. And sort of creepy. The Wirtz family still won't show games on home TV (which, by the way, now comes in color, not black-and-white), apparently fearful of alienating a fan base that has by now deserted them. Funny, all the exposure hasn't seemed to hurt the Cubs' attendance any. These guys come armed with an aim more wayward than Dick Cheney's. One playoff appearance in 10 years. One Stanley Cup in 45. One honest-to-gosh .500 season in eight. The last time they actually won a playoff round, their current coach was playing for the opposition Calgary Flames. That'd be 1996. The last time they actually selected a player in the entry draft lottery who made an indelible impact on the franchise was Jeremy Roenick. That'd be 1988. Last summer, they actually went out and spent money. But who knew that goalie Nikolai Khabibulin (four years, $27 million) would stink the joint out for six weeks, or that Adrian Aucoin (four years, $16 million) would be hurt all the time. Chicago's a helluva hockey town. But, well, you've got to give them something resembling hockey. Used to be, at the old Stadium, by that moment of epiphany when Wayne Messmer reached "o'er the la-and of the free …" in his justly famous rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, the 20,000-strong would set up such a mind-mulching din that the whole damn foundation would shake. Even the hairs on the back of the necks of the poodle-sized rats scurrying around the basement would stand at attention. The fans' reaction to the anthem in Chicago was legitimately one of the keepsake moments in all of sports. There aren't enough interested people in the new joint to form an a cappella group. That may, as the man said, have gone beyond the point of being sad. Worse, though, it's pathetic.
  6. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) yeah if u get there real early, instead of paying $17 you only pay like $8, thats how it was last yr what time would you suggest getting there this afternoon?
  7. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) go to the F lot i believe, behind the tracks, we will be there around 3 tailgating and you get the early bird discount.... early bird discount?
  8. QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) i can definitely see the concourse in right, but the fan deck going the opposite way! not a chance. The Fan Deck is straightaway centerfield, not opposite... and I highly doubt anyone will ever hit a ball up there. I believe you were thinking Fundamentals. I'd s***, make a sandwich with my s***, and then eat my s*** sandwich if anyone ever hit one up there.

Here is the comparison between MVP 05 and MLB 2K6. I was passionate, repeat PASSIONATE, about the MVP series. This game was the greatest game out there, BUT, as far as MLB is concerned, the MVP series is dead. I tried the college game, and found I just didn't care. MLB 2K6, the good and the bad. MLB 2k6 is worth owning. The best thing about the game is the inclusion of players such as Ryan Sweeney, Josh Fields, and a few other tough to find players. However, Brandon McCarthy is blonde in the game, and is rated horribly. The first time I put in the game, I absolutely HATED it. I was still stuck on the glory that was MVP. Then, I began to appreciate the game for what it was. The player models look more like ML player than thsoe of MVP lore. The face mapping is not as perfect as MVP, some players look identical, some look nothing like themselves. However, we all noticed MVP had that problem when we added Jim Thome to our rosters, bc he looks nothing like himself. The gameplay in MLB 2K6 is both good and bad. The baserunning takes a while to get used to. I read one user complain that the runners "always round 1st regardless." Well, that option can be shut off and is automatically off in the harder difficulties. The pitching blows MVP away, and I liked MVP pitching. The catcher calls for for pitches, actually throws the ball back to you, and is actually a part of the game. When throwing a curveball, instead of aiming where you want to pitch to end up, you aim where the pitch will actually be thrown. So if you want to use the Counts splitter to freeze a batter on third strike, you aim on the inside half of the plate, right in the middle. It drops out of the zone like no other. The stealing is amazing too. When batting with a runner on base, you can hit a button and enter "baserunner mode." While in this mode, you tell your batter what you want him to do. (Don't Swing, Be Selective, Swing, Bunt). Then you run like the dickens, and the Pick off AI is really good. I have been baffled a few times. The fielding is a weak point, but with practice makes perfect, and it becomes an asset. Diving for balls is ridiculously hard, but shouldn't it be? Upon reliving my MVP experience, I realized that I was diving all over the field and making ridiculously hard plays with the greatest of ease. In MLB 2k6, you are proud when you make a great diving catch or rob a homerun! All in all, I think 2K6 is a great game. There are too many homeruns on default level, so you will want to turn down those sliders so a few of those homers turn to doubles of fly outs. The swing stick is incredible, and the GM Career is really involving. The biggest distraction from the game itself is the lineup AI for other teams. Too often you will be playing a team that has Troy Glaus or Scott Rolen leading off. However, the inclusion of Ozzie, Coop, Joey Cora, Harold Baines, and the entire coaching staff is awesome... and actually having Iguchi's, BA's, Big Bobby's, and others faces in the game is a positive. For us really psychotic fans, on the XBOX version of the game you can actually add stadium and player beats. So at home, the game starts with a resounding bout of "Thunderstruck," and each player comes out to their own tune. It really gets you into the game when your fans are goin apes*** celebrating a Jim Thome HR, and then "Harvester of Sorrow," starts blaring over the homecrowd to indroduce Paulie. Overall rating 8.5/10. TRY SOMETHING NEW PEOPLE!

Talk about complete bombs! What a monster... I love it.
  12. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) fixed that for ya Yeah, but in 2K6 if you play someone out of position, you pay for it. It's a good thing that on no matter what setting you can hit at least 5 homeruns in every game to make up for those errors. by the way, by good thing, i mean bad thing
  13. We're not even 15 games into the season and people have given up on BA... If we all thought this way, we might as well give up on Pods, because he has started slow, and Politte is done, and Cotts is garbage, Garland is a bum. As the Philosipher Rose once said, "All we need is just a little patience..."
  14. niiiiice
  15. Thanks a lot guys. When I went on the 4th I wound up on Lot G (on the website it says no tailgating in Lot G). It's still cool if we tailgate in Lot G correct?
  16. I plan on tailgating today, and I want to tailgate for an extensive period of time. The website says 2 hours before the game, but some of you season ticket holders must know when they really open the parking lots. P lease clue me in!
  17. seriously.... what the hell IS going on? Joe Crede is only good when he has shaggy hair and a goat!
  18. Aaron? Yes.
  19. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) It's just a luxury Ozzie was taking advantage of. Uribe's starting tomorrow. you mean on a Monday against the KC Royals... I bet Widger starts too!
  20. can you say ESPY?
  21. Alex Cintron, whom I was incredibly happy we acquired in the first place, seems to be fighting his way into a starting role with the Sox. Is this for real, or have the matchups been working favorably for him, or is Uribe not 100%? Over the last three games, Cintron has hit .462 (6-13) with only one K, and we all know about the triples. ----just some thoughts, because I sure don't cringe when Cintron, the backup, is out there like I did when Willie Harris/Pablo Ozuna* were playing. I liked Alex in AZ, and think he is in the best playing shape of his entire career. *I love Ozuna like the rest, but when he is forced to play many games in a row, his flaws are revealed.
  22. This kind of goes against the whole White Sox style of "who gives a f*** about how things should be done?" eh, he's getting fined because he encouraged FANS to come out on the FIELD.
  23. Hmm, let's see, we obviously haven't played anywhere NEAR close to our best ball yet. However, we are currently tied for 1st in the division. Our pitching has not been as good as we all know it will be, and Scott Podsednik barely has been on base! The pitching will come around, the hitting is here, and Pods was 2-2 today and stole a base! This summer is going to rule!
  24. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) Funny you should ask, I was at the gaem yesterday and I went over to Section 153 to see the same exact thing. In 153 it stars with bb, cc, 1. So I am willing to bet that in section 152 the rows go AA, BB, CC, 1, 2, etc. because of the angle of the seating. that sucks. why not just call it row 4 then??

Has anyone noticed that throughout the league there seem to be about maybe 5 batters actually struggling? This has been an incredibly offense-minded season thus far.
