QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) Google finally decided to release the new Maps app for Android. http://db.tt/qoJ3cveT As someone who just moved and uses Maps a ton, this is great. I can really put the new traffic features to work. That file does not work.

When the idea of Ellis came up days ago, I summarized how awful he is. Why are you kids being silly?

The Shield is better than The Wire.

According to ESPN's T.J. Quinn and Mike Fish, Major League Baseball is "expected to suspend [Ryan] Braun and [Alex] Rodriguez, along with as many as 20 players sometime after next week's All-Star break." MLB investigators began digging into the Biogenesis records last month with the cooperation of the clinic's founder, Anthony Bosch, and are ready to announce suspensions now that cases have been built against the players who are suspected of purchasing PEDs from Bosch and his associates. Those sentences will of course be appealed, and the process of reviewing those appeals could take a while. Braun refused to answer some questions during MLB's investigation and could face a 100-game suspension. A-Rod might also get 100 games. This is happening.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) Women say a lot of crap out loud, but most of them don't actually mean it. Otherwise, they wouldn't keep dating the jerks whilst telling the nerdy friend they should date someone more like him...only they never do. So, not really quite the opposite, just something they're telling you to make you feel better, while they go date the jerky jock...that doesn't do Yoga. Women date the jerks and marry the nerds. Just an FYI.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Except for being in a brand new offense for like the 4th f***ing consecutive year. Its asinine how much this team has f***ed with him and mismanaged the offense. Maybe if he succeeded under offenses then we wouldn't have so many coordinators. /contrarian But seriously, the mismanagement on offense has been a joke.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) Mine is $13 for the year. Forget what company it is. I'd pay $50 for the life if I had that option. BUT THEN WHAT IF THAT B*TCH DIES TOMORROW

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) Always...While the mods change my name (I have a request in) perhaps they can also change my little tagline to "Ever the optimist". I just really think Cutler is set up to succeed. I think they've done enough with the OL to keep Jay upright A LOT more often. The addition of a competent TE, who I believe will be even better here than he was in NY, will be huge. Plus I really do love the Trestman hiring, if for no other reason than the fact that he loves to throw the RB the ball (if the past is any indication) and Matt Forte is one of the best receiving RBs in the league. Getting Forte out in space more often should be a huge plus for the offense. Just PM a mod and they'll knock it out. What's the new name?

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) Where did Jaws end up having Cutler ranked? I think he's set up for a big year. Ever the optimist.

Dear Wite, Remember when I got you hooked on Oberon? It is time for you to enjoy a new, delicious beverage. 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer Not only is this beauty 5.5%, but you'll be belching up a storm due to the added carbinations. It is teh good.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:11 PM) So Michigan City should be right about your half way point. Hopefully Wite makes sure to stop to take a big fat dump there.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) This means that they want to see if they can get somebody who is slightly less qualified than you but will take a much lower salary. I feel like it's going one of two ways. 1) waiting for person B to get back to them on an offer and stalling (not likely, bc why would the interview be scheduled briefly) 2) interview scheduled, VP notified, VP had no idea they were this far in process and needs a ton of information and to micromanage the bejesus out of the situation

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) I agree with you, since it's a work a progress, I won't be able to find out whether or not she'll respond positively or negatively until then. I just felt like it was a red flag when she said that she liked my gut. Yeah... different strokes for different folks. Wait - was that it? "I like your gut just the way it is!" If that's the case, she may just want you to know that she likes you for who you are and you don't need to change for her. A constructive conversation must be had.

I called and spoke to the recruiter. She said that both the hiring manager and manager of the department "loved my energy" and think I'm the perfect candidate. Some things have changed with requirements (wtf) and they are meeting to see if I'm qualified, and now I'll hear by Thursday or Friday. So yeah, it sounds like stalling bs to me.

I was out golfing with the father-in-law Friday morning, expecting that phone call. To go from "we want to interview you, how does x work?" to "we need to push it back a bit" to "we'll call you at some point after Tuesday morning, this does not mean you are out of the running" was quite the up/down/kickinnuts 2 hour period. I just don't see why it always has to be such a cloak and dagger keep you in the dark process. I did play the best hole of golf in my life during those 18, so at least I that happened.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 12:53 PM) I read that as they were NOT going to call earlier than this morning (which is somewhat odd, btw), and so that could mean basically any time now that Tuesday morning is over. You read it correctly. However, old Stevo's tired of waiting.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) Id say/send something that in a roundabout way gets your answer: "Hey I know they were going to call this morning, I have to step out for lunch should I wait or do you think they want to call this afternoon" That way you try and pry information without seeming like your desperate for a call back. One of the recruiters was supposed to call to schedule the next, final interview. Who knows. I'll call her in a bit I guess. I'm sure I'll get voicemail!
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) Ok does she or does she not have a boyfriend? If so, how serious are they? As for your predicament, the answer is simple. You need to talk to your significant other and explain that you are determined to get in better health (don't say "to lose weight"). This includes eating better and being more active - and it's something you'd like for her to join you in (losing weight/being active with your sig other can be a great treat). If she's not open to this, or standoffish, or ridicules your thinner physique, then as long as you're not married then it's time for you to find a new woman. No one should try to keep you from doing something to better yourself, and that goes 10x over for the person with whom you're supposed to be closest.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) I'd give it a day or two, and then I'd call or email them...did they provide you with their cards or contact info at any point, or do you just have their number because they called you earlier? I'd just say hello and that you were wondering if they had any updates on when your next interview may be scheduled, because there seemed to be quite a bit of confusion on Friday and you are trying to plan out the next week or so on your work calendar. Recruiters usually just find the candidates and arrange for them to meet the folks that will eventually make the hiring decisions, so I have never worried about bugging those people a bit when the process is a bit unorganized. I have direct emails and contact numbers for both recruiters - and of course everyone I've interviewed with so far. I'm getting to the point where I'm sick of the process. The whole thing started with a phone interview well over a month ago. But dammit, the job is that good.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) Who has been your contact person there? Is it one of these guy's admins or a recruiter directly? Two different recruiters working simultaneously to f*** with my head.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) I over think what Im going to eat for lunch, its what I do. Paralysis of analysis! But lol thanks for the tip, I know you guys (Rock, Steve, Shack) have a way with the ladies so I may just go for the simple direct approach. Almost did it the last time I saw her but decided with a more humorous "Next time maybe youll get my number". (It made sense in the context) At some point she'll get sick of waiting. Casually ask for her digits and come armed with an idea of a date to possibly set up. Also, bring a box of Magnums just in case.
