  1. Oh, Soxtalk, so worth my time.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 10:22 AM) English - specifically, grammar. Any time I hear or see somebody use grammar improperly, I generally forget what the hell they're talking about for a brief moment and just think to myself, "God, what an idiot." Verbally, the double negative kills me. I also hate that people don't understand the difference between there, their, and they're, were and we're, your and you're...just say it out people. I can agree with this - school also just generally prepares a human to deal with other people in a group situation.
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 10:44 AM) Why is steve not putting his precious recipes on his website? The world wants to know Good idea.
  4. I told y'all. It's the best way to start the day.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) I just made banana bread and it's delicious. from pooping and masturbating to this - you're a sick man.
  6. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 08:17 AM) This. If you design it or customize it, it shows more thought. melts those panties right off
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 01:31 AM) Giving the overnight oats a shot. Really looking forward to them. Good man - I just finished mine for the am.
  8. A big thing fells and ladies are going for right now is to have a circle of cluster diamonds as the setting, around say a 1-1.5 carat diamond. Those things are everywhere, they're sensible price-wise, and they look huge.
  9. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 06:53 PM) Are any of them open on the weekends? I tried taking my wife to one, after discovering it for lunch while doing jury duty, and the place was closed on weekends. Hours vary by location - www.theproteinbar.com/chicago-locations-page-72.php
  10. Simmons: I'm glad we finally got to Pau. Here's a good rule of thumb: If you're a professional basketball coach and your system is telling you, "I should play Earl Clark more than Pau Gasol," you need a new system. hilarious and true
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) Its called "Protein Bar". There are a few in Chicago, most recent one opened on Clinton Street. I know Rock is in the West Loop, so I was wondering if he had been to that one. I didnt realize it was in the FFC. I'm taking my wife there this weekend, actually.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) the entire midwest right now I can't think of a fun team to watch. I enjoy watching the Pacers with Paul George breaking out.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) I am doing a lesson on forums, wikis, and blogs for my 8th grade students and need to show them an example of a forum, Doh, I pick this one because I know it so well. "Then I hear myself say, topics are aranged in order of the most recent to the oldest. You see here that justBLAZE replied three minutes ago." "Sir, what does justBlaze mean?" avoiding the answer "these are pseudonyms, or made up names, you would have to ask him" "Sir, I know!" moving on . . . "Wait, what does 'I am drunk in 2013' mean?" oops Of course I also forgot to turn off avatars and sigs You're a great and a horrible teacher.
  14. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 11:31 AM) DirectTV is giving everyone a free week of league pass, who have been the fun teams to watch this year?? Kevin Love still hurt?? All of Minnesota is hurt. OKC, LAC, Portland, Denver
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) First guy he played was on Syracuse's roster last year And he was in the NBA last year.
  16. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 08:22 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-don...54445--nba.html Sounds like Scal got a little tired of people doubting his skills so he sent a one on one challenge. Beat 4 guys (who had at least some skill) by a combined scored of 44-6 and then played 3 average joes 3 on 1 and dominated them too. This is no surprise - the worst NBA player is 1,000x better than any s*** amateur white guy from Boston. I wish I could recruit Scal for my Thursday night league. He should try that in Chicago though - D-Rose at age 16 would have smoked him!
  17. That game last night was fun - Kaner looks electric right now. One thing I sometimes forget is how young our two best players (Kane/Toews) are still, and how they can still improve. It looks like Kaner's laying off the sauce/partying, too. The Hawks still need a goaltender capable of stopping more than 90% of shots directed his way, but they're definitely going to be a top of the west playoff picture team vs bottom of the west playoff picture team. I'm also just now realizing how much this "only playing your own conference" schedule is going to suck. Any games outside the central on the road are going to be late ones.
  18. Oh, and I'm eating them right now, as for your question about covering them, they go in a tupperware for me, with a lid.
  19. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 06:36 AM) I guess what I don't understand is where this "overnight" stuff comes in. If it's instant oatmeal, can't this be done...instantly? Are we supposed to mix all of this stuff together and let it sit in a bowl, mixed together, in the refrigerator all night long? Do we cover it? I swear to GOD if I find you're leaving out instructions or ingredients and this sucks... I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you're looking for ransom for the missing overnight oatmeal instructions or certain ingredients, I can tell you I don't have money...but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you give me the missing instructions and ingredients now, that will be the end of it - I will not look for you, I will not pursue you... but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you... and I will f***ing kill you. Heh. Leaving them overnight lets the oats soften. You mix it in the AM. You're not adding any heat, so instant or not, the oats aren't going to be prepped properly immediately. The liquid from the almond milk and the frozen berries works wonders. I only use instant oats because it's easy serving sizes, but you can use raw or steel cut and they work fine, too.

    2013 TV Thread

I watched The Following. It was alright - cable's got better stuff.
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 06:24 PM) Ok, enough reading about this...have you or can you make a post that gives step by step instructions on how to do this? FINE I prep my and my wife's lunches (day of food) the night before - here are overnight oats. 150g greek yogurt (we just buy it by the tub, 0% or 2%, whatever you prefer - the 2% obviously has some necessary fat) half-scoop CHOCOLATE protein powder (can be substituted with vanilla, but chocolate is the bomb packet oatmeal (she likes original, I like strawberries and cream, use whatever) 6-8 frozen berries (I go with strawberries - frozen actually work well bc as it melts it adds moisture to the oats OVERNIGHT) Almond milk - use as much or as little as you want to, creates thick or soupy deliciousness - I'd say I normally add half a cup or so?) That's it - let this s*** become one overnight, in the am mix it together and devour. It's really a delicious, healthy, fully-loaded way to start the day.
  22. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) Enough already, if I have to read you talking about your overnight oats one more time...well, I'm probably going to have to make them. Now I'm intrigued. They are so damned good.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 05:39 PM) Nate's only considered valuable because Kirk is f***ing awful. Defense or no defense, when you put up a TS of .450, you don't deserve 25 minutes a game, nevermind starter's minutes. Well, yeah, this is a very unique situation as the franchise superstar is out and the rest is patchwork. I think Nate's been more than anyone could have hoped, especially at his price tag.
  24. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 05:19 PM) f*** Nate Robinson. The offense sucks when he is in. "Hey I'm goingn to dribble back and forth for 16 seconds and then go ISO and throw up a terrible shot" There are literally possessions where he is on the court where he holds the ball for the entire 24 seconds. We're comparing him to Kirk Hinrich, and Nate's hit some big shots. Kirk does the same thing to a much higher degree with regards to holding the ball. PER Nate Robinson - 16.7 Rip Hamilton - 13.4 Kirk Hinrich - 10.5 Marquis Teague - 5.8 Oh, and for s***'s and giggles, Deron Williams has a PER of 18 and Ty Lawson has a PER of 14.6. Nate's been pretty valuable this year to a team that greatly lacks scoring.
