  1. So is Reed the closer now? He just keeps mowing them down.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2012 -> 01:17 AM) He wants to be a starter. He's been a success as a starter so far. He knows his arm better than anybody. START HIM!! If he's not ready to start in the big leagues, start him in the minors. Is it THAT difficult White Sox?? I completely agree with Greg here on everything save the minors. If he's injured, you DL him. If he's healthy, he starts in the bigs on a pitch count, because he's way too good to be int he minors.
  3. His coming out of the bullpen last night was unacceptable. If his elbow is screwy you DL him for 15 and bring him back on an 80 pitch count. We have a ready-made monster closer in the bullpen in Reed. I just don't understand this team.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 8, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) I think this, then I remember that I had class with a SG, was his lab partner, and the teacher told me he shouldn't have passed (mainly because he didn't show up once a week, which was half the grade) and that I pay out the ass. Give them the option of playing in the D-League for a year, or college for two. Seems fair to me. In the D-League they'd still get PAID.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) If there was no God, what is the point of all this? Even being here? Are we just going to die and bam, that's that, thanks for playing 60-100 years? I think God is amazed at how low his creations can go ... all the horrible murders throughout history, and bizarre things humans do, but I do think he exists. I think everyone can believe what they want. I don't see what's wrong with enjoying our 60-100 years, if lucky, and that being that. Given I don't believe in fairy tales and magic and snakes talking and immaculate conceptions, I'll go with the scientific approach.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) And perhaps, from the former manager as well? greg775: ozzie is good
  7. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 8, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) On a positive note, Dunn is on pace for 46 HRs and 119 RBIs, based on 550 ABs. I think that's a bit high, but it looks like he's returned to form. He is also on pace for 233 strikeouts, which would set the record by 10.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 8, 2012 -> 03:18 AM) Yeah, seemed oddly risky to me too. In other news, we got no closer to getting an answer about who done it. The writer said that this case gets wrapped up in S2 and a new case starts. I'll be sorely disappointed if that means this gets solved with 10 minutes left of the S2 finale, and then in the final minutes they show the beginning of the next case. Clearly Holder isn't dead. He was just getting the s*** kicked out of him since Linden had already used up the verbal warning.

  10. A truly interesting read by Steve Kerr - http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/788354...s-age-limit-nba Some highlights:

  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) i'm glad someone understands baseball. I've been this way forever. I pleaded with the Gods for Kenny to deal off Jenks, and the same for that loser Matt Thornton. Dealing Santos was smart, so I like that. Sale looked flat-out dominant as a starting pitcher. They should have gone with baby steps, you know, had him build his pitch count slowly. Instead, they run him out there for 88 101 110 102 100 pitches to start his MLB starting career. Now, after 5 f***ing games, they've decided to take their most valuable commodity and piss all over his value and decree he's now a closer when the one thing this team had was a closer-in-waiting in Addison Reed. I feel like I'm watching a whirlwind of stupidity, and I want jobs because of this. Some claim overreaction? I claim this is some of the dumbest baseball thinking I've ever seen.
  13. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 6, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) totally. it's obviously not a GIVEN, but my opinion the risk of an injury is worth taking if the benefit is having an ace starter. he could still blow out his arm as a closer. I agree. Relievers are a dime a dozen.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 5, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) PS: This is the saddest I've been watching my team in the playoffs ever. yes
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ May 4, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) Ack. I can't remember a day where I've had a double-stab to the heart like tonight's Sox and Bulls games. I think last Saturday counted as a perma-stab for me.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 4, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) Well, Sale alone should get you more than Wright if other teams had no concern over his mechanics. Plus, Wright's making a ton of money, money we kind of don't have. He does make cash - but either way they flushed Sale's value down the toilet today and could have turned him into something that would make a difference. We already have a long-term closer who would be better in the role than Sale in Addison Reed. This organization is run ass-backwards.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2012 -> 10:01 PM) Why bring in someone who's a FA after the year and going to make a fortune? I'd rather have 5 months of Wright than a career of a relief pitcher. I've been very consistent with how much I care about relief pitchers and the complete randomness of their statistics.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 4, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) They need more play-makers and a little bit more athleticism. They more than compensate against most teams because of their size. But these track teams always give them fits. They could just use Derrick Rose. I hate to say it, but this is all on Thibs. He ran these players completely dead tired, and the team is breaking down in the playoffs. His balls to the walls, no-holds barred, must win every game attitude has caught up to him. You just can't play like that in a crazy season like this with b2b2b games and 4 games in 5 nights and 5 games in a week. Humans need f***ing rest. I like the way Thibs coaches, but he did not adjust on the fly. The players are breaking down, and for good reason.
  19. If this franchise had any f***ing clue, they'd have traded Sale for immense value if they internally did not believe he could hold up. All reports state that he wanted to continue starting. Let him go out there a couple more times, make some wild offer (UM DAVID WRIGHT ANYONE??) and upgrade the roster. Tell me Morel + Sale doesn't get you Wright (prior to so publicly pissing on your player's value?) God, this organization is being run by a dolt.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) Inexcusable, with or without Rose. UH WHAT ABOUT WITHOUT ROSE, GIBSON, AND NOAH, AND WITH DENG PLAYING WITH ONE WRIST AND CLEARLY RUINED? Jesus, get a clue.
  21. If I believed in a God, I would curse it right now.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 4, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) When did they say he was injured? He came back in the game? Im watching the espn feed. He f***ed up his knee and hasn't been playing while the game fell apart. 2+2=4.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 4, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) Why not taj over asik? Uh cuz he's injured.
