  1. 1 year "around 10 million". Nationals signed RHP Edwin Jackson to a one-year contract. The Nationals have announced the signing, though it is pending a physical. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that he'll make somewhere in the range of $10 million. http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/mlb/348...h-edwin-jackson

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 12:12 PM) I've heard nothing but good things. May give it a shot. Same here. Even Bill Simmons wrote about it.
  3. "Anybody who goes after Derrick Rose is just an idiot," Barkley said. "First of all, I think Skip Bayless is the biggest punk in the world. How can you go after Derrick Rose? Chuck, this is why everyone who has a brain ignores Skip Bayless. His brother makes great Mexican, though.
  4. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) That was a pretty hard fail there, Balta.Lee kicked our ass in the Golden State game. I'd imagine he was kidding and just wanted to drop the avocado joke.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 09:33 AM) That's beyond harsh. He's a competitor just like Derrick, the coaches need to tell him no, nobody with a competitive edge is going to pull themselves out of a game. You must have decided to ignore the 1st sentence of the post you quoted. Thanks for repeating me, though!
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 09:01 AM) With Rose as your PG, you need a PF who can knock down that jumper. Otherwise you just are bringing an extra defender to Derrick. We still haven't gotten to enjoy enough of Rip on the court. He's going to make Boozer a much better player, someone just needs to tell him "no" when he keeps trying to come back early. Rip is so f***ing selfish and I've been saying it all year. His own statements have been that "there was no way I was going to not play in Detroit" - ridiculous, missed next two weeks with setback, and there was no way he was missing that national ABC game against the Heat - ridiculous, will miss a minimum of two more weeks with setback, and I'm guessing longer. We just need the Bulls somewhat healthy come playoff time.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 11:11 PM) Have I mentioned I love Justified? I've been with it all along, and completely loved it, but they are taking it to a whole new level this year. It's breaking into the all-time ranks for me now. Interestingly enough, the guy (Elmore Leonard) who wrote the books the show is based on likes Timothy Olyphant's portrayal of Raylan so much that he wrote a new book that's kind of an alternate-reality Harlan County creatively entitled "Raylan". I illegally downloaded it for free to my Nook and am going to read it after this 'Justified' season ends. http://www.amazon.com/Raylan-Novel-Elmore-...d/dp/006211946X
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 08:17 AM) No, thanks for checking in though, sorry to force you to write on that. Could still happen in future, but family fooled me. I have the Nook Tablet. Love.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 11:29 PM) Been reading "Ready Player One" for a couple of hours now. Glad it was recommended in this thread. You are welcome.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 08:09 AM) I don't think I've heard his name from the moment he left the Knicks until now. What's he doing tehse days? Selling avocados? He pretty much kicks all ass in Golden State.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 06:41 PM) Eh, the Bulls are missing some easy wide open shots. They got this. Or not. F*ck this game.

  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:16 PM) If he is required for Howard, so be it. I'm really struggling to see all this worrying about Dwight. It likely will not happen.

  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) The Dems might be doing it too if they were having an actual primary race. Of course they would. Don't you remember Obama vs. Hillary? That was a bloodbath! However, that didn't hurt as much because the race was open... the Republicans were destroying each other, too. By the time the general election came around, both sides had already made excuses or figured out the lesser of two evils, then it was just Obama's massive social media/younger voter push that made it a no-brainer. Plus, it was change I actually made the mistake of believing in, not realizing that politics are at such a f***ing standstill in this country that hardly anything can get done no matter who is in charge. But yes, with an incumbent, it really makes what the Republicans are doing this year, and to the extent they are doing, about as short-sighted as I've ever seen in politics.
  18. The short-sightedness in these nominations (this year, and any year there's an incumbent), is that the conservatives are demolishing each other to the point where recovery is impossible. Not that everyone doesn't know it, but it just baffles me that we teach our children to play nice, and then our world leaders act like morons, and it's been going on forever. Politics are such a joke.
  19. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) I want Asik, Przybilla, and Scalabrine on the floor at the same time. I want to vomit.
  20. Joel Przybilla's agent, Bill Duffy, confirmed that the center is weighing offers to sign with either the Bulls or Heat, possibly as early as this week. Need ourselves that insurance big. Not that this deal would really matter, it'd just get THE THIRD off the roster and take the role that Kurt Thomas would have seen this year.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) And tied for least rings.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) Well done to leave out the next line. Politics are s***. The next line in the statement is extremely important, but cut off for the headline. YAYYYY.
  23. At 33.38, LeBron currently has the highest PER of all-time.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 10:30 AM) Steve, Help me with Justified. I like it but not gonna watch first two seasons until April when I am out of commission for a bit. Too many bad guys for me to follow. Cliff notes Please. This would take a long, long time. Boyd is good/bad. Bad season one, somewhat good season 2, seemingly good/bad season 3. He and Raylan worked in the coal mines together, so they have an understanding so to speak. Raylan grew up in Harlan County, got out, as a Marshall developed a reputation for pulling his gun too swiftly, shot a baddie in Miami which was TOTALLY JUSTIFIED HOLY SH*T SHOW TITLE. However, too many shootings so they sent him to Harlan to get his head on straight and work where not so much bad things go down. However, PLENTY of bad things go down. That's why we need Marshalls there! Speaking of US Marshalls in Harlan County, Art is hilarious, but don't be fooled... he is great at his job. Pretty much any marshall on the show rocks. Dickie Bennett (guy from Lost) had a storied season 2, his mom was the big villain of the season. She drank warm apple pie and died. She was played by the fat b**** with cancer in one of the Dexter season who said "Key Lime Pie" really annoyingly. The slut from the Shield whom has Raylan's baby inside her is Raylan's ex-wife, who in season 1 was married to a fat turd, who left that fat turd in season 2 because of money and lying problems (women don't like their men losing money, and they don't like being lied to), in the end, she couldn't resist Raylan's meat. Speaking of unable to resist Raylan's meat, Ava Crowder banged him for a bit in season 1. She was married to a Crowder, but not Boyd, prior to the series, and shot his ass. Boyd came to kill her in the first episode of the series and Raylan shot Boyd. Ava's basically a whore. Now she and Boyd are lovie dovie. Lots of Crowder stuff was in season 1. I'm tired of typing. There's lots more characters and they're pretty much all intertwined. The old dude who was hanging out with the cripple from Friday Night Lights (not 6) is Raylan's dad. Also great s*** about him in seasons 1 and 2. Read wikipedia for more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justified_(TV_series)#Main_cast Watch seasons 1 & 2. Great show.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) We ask a lot of our teenagers these days, and we expect a lot. I find it a bit odd that we could entrust a person to operate a motor vehicle but not be intimate with another human being, even if they happen to be over the age of 17. Well, yeah, there's a lot of stupid laws out there. An 18 year old can die for his country but can't drink alcohol in his country (mostly).
