  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) 5 year, $75 million That's not bad at all.
  2. According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Angels have signed left-hander C.J. Wilson. Dec 8 - 10:58 AM
  3. The Cardinals should go all-in on Prince Fielder. You'd be buying a guy who still has his prime ahead of him on a 10 year deal that will be cheaper and end at the appropriate time. This would be a best-case scenario for St. Louis.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 09:37 AM) Which is impossible. that means no reactions to trades, no reactions to signings, no reactions to drafts, no reactions to firings etc. I'd say condemning Mark Buehrle for leaving in this situation is letting emotion take over. Look at it from a realistic standpoint, and move along. His time had come.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) I'm a broadcasting major. You couldn't PAY ME to go back to school. That's a tough racket with a lot of competition. It's more likely you will be paying to go back!
  6. At age 38, albert pujols will have $130 million left on this deal.
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) also I guarantee that's not what he meant. you have to take emotion out of the business side of the sport. This. Obviously I will sob like a girl if the Bulls win the title this year.
  8. Wow, STL didn't stand a chance.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) Oh, yeah Steve, it's ok, I don't expect you to know what emotion is after you s*** on Santos for crying on TV. Your first f***ing mistake is bringing emotion to this in the first place. Mark Buehrle was a fantastic pitcher for the White Sox. I don't see why people are dumb enough in this day and age to think athletes view their job as anything other than... their job. They get paid enormous sums because they are the best in the world at a practice that generates interest, fame, and fortune. However, Mark Buehrle has as much right to do what he just did as anyone else in any other profession. Let's say I interview for a new job, and receive a great offer. The job will, however, cause me to uproot my family for the next four years and sacrifice some of what I hold dear, but this job is literally offering exactly what I want and giving me the opportunity to try it. I take this offer to my current company, hoping, though not really hoping because I kinda want to try something new, and tell them "if you match it I will stay." All signs point to the fact that Mark did this. My boss (or Kenny Williams) says the money is not there. In fact, in this position, the money is not even there for my old job anymore. So I can either retire (in reality, impossible, in baseball, sure) or I can try this great new job and continue setting up generations upon generations and build my legacy as the best thing that ever happened to my last name. You are being unreasonable to bring emotion into this. Expecting Mark Buehrle to shun fantastic offers and sign in a s***ty situation in Chicago for whatever tiny sum is made available to Kenny given his woeful track record the past three years, is just unreasonable and shows you have no idea how the real world works. Baseball players are people, and baseball players want money just as much as anyone. I don't care how much someone makes, they should certainly keep trying to improve their financial footing... and in Mark's case also enjoy a fun new environment under a (please don't read this greg) manager you like playing under. Take. Emotion. Out. Or else forever be disappointed in sports stars.
  10. I would like to clear things up. I was not making fun of his crying on that show. It was a touching moment. Really, it was his most popular moment as a White Sox player.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) Oh, yeah Steve, it's ok, I don't expect you to know what emotion is after you s*** on Santos for crying on TV. I did? I stated a fact. I didn't grow to adore Santos and I don't care that he's gone. I hate over valuing closers.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:18 PM) Just woke up. Had a text message. f*** Buehrle and f*** the Marlins. "I want to retire a Cardinal or a White Sock and play close to home." My ass. I love him, but man...screw you Mark. I won't ever believe another player again when they "aren't in it for the money." Except Paul Konerko. That man means it. So Mark Buehrle becomes a free agent, and neither of those two teams makes him an offer, so now he's a bad guy, huh? Genius. Mark can still retire in either spot. He's 16 years younger than Jamie Joyed, btw. I repeat. Neighed the White Sox nor the Cardinals offered him a contract. To keep your respect, he has to retire?
  13. My favorite pitcher, ever. I love Mark Buehrle so much. I'm looking forward to seeing #56 retired and his statue erected.
  14. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) @Buster_ESPN Source: Hanley Ramirez's rep asked the Marlins for a restructured deal. MIA upset with this, will now be looking to trade Hanley (more). @_@ @Buster_ESPN Marlins upset with Hanley, because given his subpar year in '11, they were greatly surprised he wants more money to change positions. I believe someone made fun of me for my analysis of Hanley being a 'selfish prick' a couple days ago. Hanley Ramirez is a selfish prick.
  15. I would like to add that had Joe Paterno or anyone else at Penn State actually cared about anything other than their precious football program, then "Victim 9" as linked in my previous post would never have been subjected to repeated rape and sexual abuse (2004-2008).
  16. Sandusky Grand Jury Report: The Sequel It's even worse. Kid's screaming from basement (2004-2008) while wifey is home during rape.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) In a smaller sample size with less minutes. More minutes than his rookie year in which he shot and rebounded more. He's actually regressing.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) He's also a very good passer, is only 26, with a good injury history and has gotten better every year. What on Earth are you talking about. He hasn't remotely "gotten better every year", dude. 2010-2011 was a huge regression, and his rates last year were worse than that of his rookie year.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) Opie is clearly battling Jax, I thought they made that clear. And it should be that way. There's no battle to be had. Drive to hospital, shoot Clay in face. The fact that he's not doing anything and waited after Jax asked him to is clearly a sign that he's listening.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) I can see him letting Juice go, as the guy is clearly a wannabe biker himself (the old school jacket and motorcycle). Yeah, that part I get. The conversation is the part I have a problem with...

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) Tara talked for two seasons about wanting like hell to get out, and to provide safety for her sons. Suddenly, she's OK with letting them stay there and grow up into the gang themselves. Purely a plot device. Opie is still aware that Clay is alive, but he listened to Jax when he told him that he was necessary for the deal which Opie was against in the first place. No way Opie wouldn't take the very first chance he got to finish Clay off. I was just about to type these responses but hit refresh. Thanks for taking care of that. Also, Russ, seriously, the FBI guy was nothing but a complete dickhole to Prison Break all year long. He gave no f***s. Then he decides to tell him he "respects" him, which is a crock, but it works for the neatly giftwrapped episode we were fed last night.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) It gets another season from me, but then it might be time to cash in the chips. Yeah, see, I like the idea of Jax taking over the club, obviously. But they didn’t need to lie to me all season to get there. They just basically decided to tell us the entire season was bs last night! Murderous cartel is working with CIASeriously! They murdered people! Oh, sorry about hurting Tara’s hand. We were trying to get her to a safehouse! Tara’s now ok with CharmingFor two seasons she’s wanted out. The entire season was based on Jax getting out. The job in Portland was a done deal. Eh, no biggie sweetheart! I see you with that gavel and it just makes me so wet! Let’s stay here forever! Jax to Opie: Trust meHow about NO. Clay killed my wife! Clay killed my dad! Oh, ok, I’ll trust you, Jax. Hugs n kisses. FBI goofball – now a nice guy!Hey, black dude from Prison Break. I actually respect you. Sure, I used you like my b**** all season. But seriously, I respect you. See? I’m going to let Juice go!! All is well. Seriously, what a crock. There are about a million more issues with everything. Every point of contention that was raised during this season was dismissed in a 32 minute episode. “The Killing” proved to execs that one thing fans don’t like is to find out they’ve been lied to all season long… way to go SOA.
