Buehrle Signs with Marlins | 4 yrs $58 mil
Steve9347 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) It's pretty obvious he's gone, isn't it? Do the Cubs want him? I'd like to see him stay in town where he belongs even if it means him pitching for them. Good luck to our team w/out Mark and Danks. We'll be trotting one of the worst rotations in baseball out there trying to win with our offense? Wow, get ready for a horrible horrible season. Go root for the Marlins. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 11:27 AM) And who cares? Not I. Apparently we're trading the only reason we've kept Jordan around this long anyway.
-
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 10:44 AM) ...like a polaroid picture.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) Well, last night was the first time I've ever fast forwarded the Office to get it over with. It's supposed to be a comedy, right? James Spader's character was awful on the finale last year, and I can't believe they brought him back in such a big role. I dropped that trash show weeks ago. It was the opposite of funny.

Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the White Sox have been shopping John Danks around in trade talks. General manager Kenny Williams indicated last month that he would be reluctant to part with Danks, but it was likely just an attempt to bump up the asking price. That price is evidently steep, as a source from another team told Cowley that Williams "asked for everyone on our roster in return" for the left-hander. While an obvious exaggeration, it's no surprise that Williams would be demanding a lot for the 27-year-old Danks, who is set to make around $7-8 million in his final year of arbitration.

Jordan Danks will absolutely be selected.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) Ronald McDonald is visiting my work today to talk tot he kids about bullying. My guess is he wont be telling them to eat healthier as well. Donovan McNabb - McDonald's... I'm lovin' it.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) I guess I'll post it before someone else does: Noah, Charlotte's pick, another first rounder and whatever salary filler is needed. I think they'd probably demand adding a Deng/Turkoglu swap until they get desperate unfortunately. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 08:31 AM) I assume a deal with Noah involved and possibly including Deng and Turkoglu could be the base of something. The Magic would be f***ed in the head to deal Dwight and not send Hedo along with him in the deal. Original.

Make sure you teach the boys to not shake hands like a bunch of p*****s. A firm handshake is required if I'm hiring a man.

ESPN's Marc Stein said Thursday that there is a growing sense among NBA executives that the Magic will trade Dwight Howard before the season starts. The new CBA has taken away a good amount of the players' power to play where they want to play, but not completely, and has also given incentive to teams to make trades sooner rather than later if they want to get value for their exiting stars. This is not a hard report, but more opinion from an insider that is well-connected. If anything, we may get to avoid using puns like 'Melodrama' this year. Typical ESPN... the "created news" leader.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
Steve9347 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If he was straight up released, he's a free agent. The waiver rules would not apply. However, I don't see the Bears having interest, nor do I believe they should have interest. Dude is cooked. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 08:25 AM) Does Howard have any interest in Chicago? Then #2 could Chicago put together some sort of a reasonable deal for him without gutting the team Miami/NYK style? I assume a deal with Noah involved and possibly including Deng and Turkoglu could be the base of something. The Magic would be f***ed in the head to deal Dwight and not send Hedo along with him in the deal.

Lakers executive Jim Buss says he's no longer opposed to trading Andrew Bynum, but only for what he calls "the right deal." Ken Berger of CBS writes that this is code for Dwight Howard, and most insiders believe that Howard has the Lakers on his short list of teams to play for. No f***ing s*** you'd trade Bynum for Dwight friggin' Howard. I wish just once the Bulls would surprise me and make the NBA and ADIDAS happy and combine Rose and Howard in Chicago.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) The bulls aren't going to make 2 huge trades in the month leading up to the season. Dismissing trades because there's a month until the season is incredibly silly. It's not like we're under normal circumstances. They've had no chance to do anything yet.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Steve done made a mess of another thread. someone get a mop Admit it. That gif is godlike.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) "@KBergCBS: Six teams have expressed early interest in UFA Caron Butler: Nets, Clippers, Bulls, Heat, Spurs and Knicks I wonder how healthy Butler is... at his very brief peak with the Wizards he was a pimp.
-
Knowing Kenny, he's going to deal John Danks for some formerly heralded offensive player who is 24-25 and some overrated reliever, and try to win now assuming Sale can step into the rotation.
-
Baseball contracts are stupid.
-
$10 million over 2 for Dejesus is a lot of money.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) It can be used before every season during the span of the CBA, according to the information the SI has. But only once per team.
-
This Hawks team is frustrating.
-
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) I just don't see how a rational human-being could pass up that offer. Orlando would eventually rid themselves of two awful contracts and have a great building piece in Brook. This is a team that willingly traded for Gilbert Arenas.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Even in a shortened season I'd be worried about Roy's knees suddenly going out. If he signs for the MLE, the reward far outweighs the risk.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
Steve9347 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:51 AM) What report was this? I actually don't check MLB sites as much anymore since 2K5 went Twitter crazy. I just go to DC. Keith Law of ESPN.com hears that the Pirates don't consider Andrew McCutchen "untouchable." The Pirates have attempted to discuss a multi-year contract with McCutchen, but the two sides haven't made much progress until this point. It would be foolish to dismiss the possibility of a trade altogether, though they would likely have to be blown away in order to actually deal him. The 25-year-old remains under team control through 2015.
