QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) I always thought of Mariotti as the hitting coach. Oh... this. This is an excellent, excellent post.

QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 05:46 PM) Did you just sleep through the last scene with Hill/Pitt in the lockerroom or what? They have sex, don't they. Gross.

I'm going to get ripped and play the Battlefield 3 demo tonight with some buds online like I'm in college again. Tomorrow morning will be absolutely awful at the gym prior to work.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) So Ozzie is an entertainer, more like Lady Gaga or Rush Limbaugh in leveraging his own brand to personally enrich himself? I'll buy that. Yes. Exactly. He markets himself well, and clearly that's the direction he's been taking his brand the last 3-4 seasons with the tweeting, the proposed website... he wants to create a Guillen-family legacy far beyond managing and playing.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) Phil Rogers called Ozzie, not KW, a "genius." (That was Marty on KW) That must make it true, and empirically more true or valid than anything said on a messageboard or blog. I was serious in all of those statements. Ozzie is definitely brilliant. He managed to make himself a superstar in this whole ordeal, and despite being a failed manager for 3 straight years making his move to Miami big-time news while getting another $10 million. He's making money.
-
Misconception: Ozzie was a good in-game manager. Misconception: Ozzie was good for the image of the Chicago White Sox. Misconception: Ozzie cares about you. Misconception: Ozzie is in it for anything but money. Misconception: Ozzie is not brilliant.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) One of the reasons I wanted Ozzie gone so we would stop b****ing and arguing about him. Trust me. No matter who the manager is, until the end of time or the MLB goes belly up, any manager for any team will be b**** and argued about...

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) I hate interviewing. Just give me a job. You must prove you deserve that job by answering questions that don't relate to it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) According to Fangraphs Player Value, Crawford was $1.6 million this year, while Adam Dunn was -$13.1 million (you read that right). That means Adam Dunn underperformed his contract in the Fangraphs world by $27 million, Crawford by $19 million. Wow. I read it right, yet I still can't believe it.

I'd jizz over Martinez. Alomar would make me yawn.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) just remember that either way, Theo Epstien is still a genius and KW is the worst GM in baseball This post is rather awesome.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Crawford by a long shot. I had to go with tie. Dunn's OPS dropped .330 points, while Crawford's dropped .157 points. The difference in cost makes it a tie, in my book. Adam Dunn slugged UNDER .300! Think about that!
-
Adam Dunn 4 years, $56 million - 14 million per season GP: 122 AVG: .159 OBP: .292 SLG: .277 OPS: .569 HR: 11 RBI: 42 Carl Crawford 7 years, $142 million - 20.29 million per season GP: 130 AVG: .255 OBP: .289 SLG: .405 OPS: .694 HR: 11 RBI: 56 So, considering contract, who was worse?

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

Rumor has it the Chicago White Sox will have Adam Dunn and Alex Rios next year. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) Unless you believe Kenny Williams. Yeah, I just finally got to that quote you posted. Jesus Christ. KW. WTF buddy. I really wish we'd just have cleaned house.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) Kenny traded for Swisher to play CF. Another mistake in talent evaluation on his part. While I agree that KW has made many, many mistakes, he had no intention on Swisher playing CF that season.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) Good news on Stalberg, and they should be very careful with Smith. Don't rush him out there after a head shot. I'm shocked on Stalberg. It might have been a blessing in disguise as all he does is skate, though.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) I just don't see why people thing Lovie is a good coach. Under his tenure they've had 3 ok season, on mediocre season and 3 losing seasons. I'm sure this will be a fourth losing season. They guy is average all the way. The Bears will be above .500 by season's end. I still think they'll get a wild card. They just won't do anything with it. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) I'll take the heat off of Kenny for the Dunn move and to a lesser extent the Peavy move. The Rios one was incredibly risky and he knew it. The worst moves were the Rios/Hudson moves. I don't know that we can excuse the Peavy move, either. There were plenty of red flags even if he were healthy. What about the Swisher moves? What about the Manny move? He's on an epicly bad run here.
-
Man, just watching the Rays game last night, everytime they showed Maddon, Martinez was right there with his own scribbles on paper. They almost seem like equals in that dugout... I'd be very satisfied with his being hired as manager. I sure hope KW/Jerry do their due diligence.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) Right. Just like you can't handle anything even remotely anti-Ozzie. He was 10% of the problem here, right? Are we still under the assumption that Marty = Cowley?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) The Bears are in a position to waste by far their most talented QB in my lifetime. It sucks. Yup. I remember being so excited that we'd finally acquired a big-time QB. You still gotta give good players the right tools in the NFL. Pathetic O-Line and WR who can't run routes and drop balls? I guarantee that Tom Brady would suck in this offense. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) You have no interest in hearing any anti-Kenny stuff. He is doing his job. I think they've both f***ed up immensely. Both should have been gone, however, I'll gladly take Ozzie gone first as I was sick of his s***ty attitude and his family acting like a bunch of spoiled s***heads.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Um, part of Ozzie's job is to get his players to f***ing care. I can buy the other stuff, but Rios is definitely, at least in part, on Ozzie. Oof. Rios is 100% on Kenny. That claim was a big f***ing mistake.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) I agree with these parts of your post. I still think they've been just as competitive in spite of all the garbage from Bears management. I stated yesterday that one of their biggest errors was in contruction of the new Soldier Field. It was one of the worst business moves in all of the NFL. Agreed on Soldier Field. I guess just seeing where this season is headed put me at my snapping point. I want nothing more than for the Bears to dominate, and this regime has f***ed it all up. As I've stated many times, they've been competitive despite the defense. If the f***ing GM could have brought in just a few players over the course of the last 5 years, instead of bringing in a QB and saying "good luck", we'd be looking at a f***ing monster.
