WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) I know it's hard to compare since Dunn doesn't play defense but isn't he worse than Pierre? Correct indeed! Adam Dunn (-0.9) has now passed Juan (-0.7). You win sadness!

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) I think it'd still be a solid upgrade. As has been discussed ad nauseum, it does not take much to upgrade from the statistical worst player in baseball.

PED accusations
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Ivan Rodriguez has only been implicated on steroid use by Jose Canseco when Canseco was in Texas. Other players in Texas during his time there were Dean Palmer, Juan Gonzalez, and Rafael Palmeiro. Holy s***, Pudge was juiced out of his gourd. It takes no more than the eye test to know that one.

Ozzie or Kenny?
I grow weary of the Ozzie show.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) How many teams with a struggling offense would keep their top prospect in the minors who is raking? Just look at the Mariners... they have way more cash invested in Figgins but benched him in favor of Ackley.

Adam Dunn: The Least Exciting Player Ever
Adam Dunn looks the same now as he always had. This has nothing to do with scrambled eggs and everything to do with scrambled brains.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Ya know, after listening to his podcast with Bill Simmons, I came away thinking that Khan is a lot smarter than I thought. Exact same here. He impressed me... and clearly he won over BS.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) For real. The guy is going to be mashing doubles all over the place. Who cares how fast he is? Mix in a few bombs and a lotta k's, and yeah, you're right on... I think getting Viciedo up here to replace Pierre would be addition by subtraction at worst. How many times have we seen Juan up with two on and less than two outs fail to get the job done? He is very unreliable for anything but a grounder to the right side. Viciedo, at least, could be a threat to hit the ball to the outfield.

Catch All Anything Thread
It's official. On this the 27th day of June, 2011, I officially unleashed my stinkiest gas in recorded history. This frightful happening occurred within my closed office, which I evacuated for a period of 20 minutes to grab a glass of water.

Adam Dunn: The Least Exciting Player Ever
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) Maybe Paulie can arrange for Dunn to be kidnapped. He can hide him somewhere in his 16K sq ft mansion in Arizona. I hear it's in Scottsdale, right?

Adam Dunn: The Least Exciting Player Ever
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) That is Phil Roger's stance. I think they could use his surgery as the reason, but good lord somethings got to happen Oh no, I agree with Phil Rogers? Someone shoot me.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) MLB's financial situation is fine, really better than any other major sport, and the Dodgers problems have absolutely nothing to do with the existence of guaranteed contracts. If the Dodgers payroll was half of what it was, they'd still be in bankruptcy, the McCourts would just own more houses. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Adam Dunn: The Least Exciting Player Ever
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) No doubt about that Dunn s been nothing short of abysmal this season-so far. I wonder what happens when we head to Denver? My feeling is he should sit and get his head on straight, but I bet he plays at 1B and maybe in the OF. I am just keeping hope alive that he can turn things around after the All-Star break. It is hard to believe he k's more than Dave Nicholson did. They should DL Dunn with a phantom injury and let him get his head together in AAA, thus allowing Viciedo to come up for the time being.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Give me JR over a "chemsitry guy" who can't put the ball in the hoop. For someone who "puts the ball in the hoop", JR Smith is incredibly ineffective of doing that at a high percentage. Sure, you are going to make a lot of threes when you shoot 4 per game like he did last year. That's down from the 6.2 (SIX POINT TWO) that he attempted per game the year prior.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 09:25 AM) I want JR Smith. He would be an excellent second creator on offense and would fill our offensive void at SG nicely. Character issues be damned, give me talent. Ugh, JR Smith would be a huge problem here.

2011-2012 NHL Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) That actually comes together pretty nicely. Honestly I wish the Hawks and Wings could be in the East, because there is nothing worse than the 9:30pm puck drop. But the reality is that there isn't really way to do that. I like a 9:30 puck drop. Booze city.

Um, holy s***. Four divisions? I f***ing love that. No chance of a top 3 team getting a s*** seed again! I hope Detroit doesn't go East, though, simply for the rivalry. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nhl/news/story?id=6706113

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) More minutes for John Scott means more minutes of BAD hockey for the Blackhawks. Seriously, if Scott takes up most of Brian Campbell's minutes, the Campbell trade suddenly becomes a bad move. That's the ONLY WAY the Campbell trade could become a bad move. That's clearly not going to happen.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) From Rotoworld via the Sun-Times Where do I barf? Scott had nothing last year, absolutely nothing. It is not a stretch to say he was the least talented NHL player in 2011. He's fine I suppose as your 7th defenseman, but under no situation should he see more playing time. The day I start listening to Rotoworld in terms of whether the Hawks are going to use Scott as the 4th/5th D-man is the day I shoot myself.

2011-2012 NHL Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 12:41 AM) Ok, did some more roster analysis. Here's another scenario: Resign Frolik, sign Laich, Ehrhoff, Sopel, Madden. Kane Toews Smith Sharp Laich Hossa Frolik Bolland Bickell Olesz Madden Kruger Keith Seabrook Hjalmarsson Ehroff Leddy Sopel I like Smith on the top line with Kane/Toews as I've mentioned before. He simply play smart and has great positioning. Laich centering the 2nd line would be sexy. Frolik/Bolland/Bickell was a downright dirty line against Vancouver, and was fun to watch. Great two-way line. Olesz and Kruger bring you some toughness with talent on the 4th line and Madden will do his thing. The defense gets much stronger. You assume Leddy will continue to improve. 2/7 is what it is. Ehrhoff makes up for the loss of Soupy, but we also gain a big time shot blocker and tough guy in Sopel. Financially, this should all work too, unless Laich or Ehrhoff asks for considerably more than expected. Madden and Sopel should come cheap and I don't think Frolik could command THAT much unless someone offer-sheets him. In that case, we still have Morin waiting in the wings. Let's aim high and say Laich and Ehrhoff 5 each, 3 for Frolik and 1 each for Madden and Sopes, that's about 700k over what the Hawks have to spend, so it could be a possibility. I don't abhor your ideas, but I do genuinely think we have to ask how much Madden could possibly have left in the tank at this point. Also, there's a very real chance that McNeil could be taking up 3rd Lind center immediately. This would bump Bolland to that checking line if we are indeed intent on improving our #2 center position from the outside. I also have to imagine t(of pray) that Beach contends for a spot on this roster; we very well might see some youth movement here. If that's the case, I expect Kaberle to be signed as the Hawks focus on defense, along with the aforementioned center upgrade (again, the more I read the less likely Richards sounds. I think the hawks can't afford a deal similar to the Campbell one they just dropped). This will all be hhighly entertaining.
