Adam Dunn: The Least Exciting Player Ever
Steve9347 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well, that and it's not like the guy was cheered like the 2nd coming of Christ the first month + of his being a White Sox player. He looks like a beer league softball player out there right now... completely clueless. I have to imagine he'll turn it around, but I've never seen someone look this lost at the plate, and I've seen a lot of bad ballplayers in my 28+ years on this planet. -
Weeds could be 10 minutes long and I wouldn't care. That show got bad x infinity last year and thus the drop decision was made. #noregrets

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) LOL. That reminds me that my 1st post ever on this site was during that series. Of course I was being an over-the-top douche, stating that Pablo Ozuna should just walk off the field and retire for making so many mistakes in one of those games. EDIT: Here it is... link EDIT part deux: And it was a reply to milkman. LOL I wonder what my first post looked like... I bet it was lame. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) It must be getting pretty uncomfortable under that bus for Ozzie. I actually read it as the exact opposite.

Adam Dunn: The Least Exciting Player Ever

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) Giving Dunn $56MM is one of the things wrong with baseball and wrong with our GM. Living in a National League city, I have seen Dunn try to play the game in the last couple of years, and he was awful. No National League team was going to give him any serious money, so his only chance was to get a DH gig in the AL. Who was Kenny competing against? Are there any full time DH's getting anywhere near the money that Dunn is getting? Big Papi maybe, but look at his record. Didn't Thome kind of set the market for this type of player? I just don't get Kenny Williams. Regardless, I'll be at the games in Denver this week. Tonight, I'll be right behind the Sox dugout. At least, I won't have to watch that slug try to play baseball. Hindsight = 20/20. Dunn's contract seemed like a bargain this offseason. -
2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) I'm still not convinced that the Rose ISO and jump shot was the actual play call there. Or at least if there was an Iso call, Rose wasn't supposed to just dribble and shoot on Lebron. That can't have been the call. It happened twice. Whatever was called the first time... well, it certainly shouldn't have been called again because the results were identically bad. -
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) This is maddening. KW needs to put his big boy pants on and release Pierre. If he can't do that, resign. WHATRE YOU TALKIN BOUT PIERRE IS HOT HE GOTS .530 OPS THIS MONTH W A STEAL!

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) Absolutely, that is not a forgotten point. However from an overall team standpoint I think the difference between Bogans>JR Smith on offense, as well as how much better it would make the other players on offense could improve our team even with the decline in defense. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows. Well, let's also not forget that in the NBA, there are so many timeouts called in the final minutes that you can match a defensive stopper down the stretch, call timeout, and get your scorer in there. This was certainly key in Game 4 when the Bulls had the last shot and ISO'd again and I cried. -

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) Those people would be idiots. Bulls won 62 games and made the Conference Finals. Lost in five, but only one game was a blowout, and that was the Bulls doing the blowout. Boozer/Noah struggled, but hopefully that was injury-related. They got nothing from Korver who usually is a great shooter. This team is damn close. If they kept the roster the same, they would be damn good and still be a top three teams in the NBA. Game 3 felt like a blowout. That series sucked. The Heat decided to play their best ball of the year as LeBron went apes*** in those 4th quarters... that's something that's not likely to happen again. Also, Rose did nothing short of choke down the stretch in those games, which I don't expect to see happen very often moving forward. Ugh, I'm still having nightmares of those isolation plays with Rose on LeBron. -
Although Salvation was a good movie, and Transformers 2 was one of the worst-received films of all-time.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) I put my fandom of Transformers similar to what you have(or had) for the Terminator Salvation movie. By no means do I think this is going to be a oscar winning picture, but I totally believe it will be worth it to see this movie in IMAX 3D I can't hate on that. If you love Transformers, go to Transformers.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:02 AM) I still want to tease Greg775 about his comments on that movie with Jack Nicholson/Streep/Baldwin/Keaton..."It's Complicated" That was my all-time favorite post here at SoxTalk, "it's hilarious," just made me laugh thinking of greg pondering that movie and that brief, succinct comment. I thought that movie was hilarious.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:02 AM) after all of your posting about Rom-Coms with your wife and you ask this question? Seriously? Hey, seeing those with her keeps her happy. It's not like I go out and see them because I want to! There's a big difference. I can't imagine spending my money and time seeing T3, and I'd sit through "Going the Distance" three more times before doing so. EDIT: Maybe that's going a bit far. It'd be neat to see what they do to Chicago, but I'd still bet I never see the movie.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:56 AM) I really wouldn't mind Richardson either, again though not a top choice. I personally don't think the Bulls were as far away as other people seem to think. If we had a 2 who could create and knock down 3s we could have easily won the Heat series. And that's with DRose playing pretty atrociously. Yeah, I mean, obviously JR Smith would be an upgrade as well, I just wanted to aim a little higher. We're so far away from having any idea what the Bulls can/will do, it's depressing. -

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) So JR Smith is a chucker but Jason Richardson is a good efficient score? Similar TS% for both but less shot attempts for JR... Well, I'm seriously banking that Richardson isn't as bad as 2010/2011. -
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:36 AM) Hey, look at that. You're funny when sober too. I was sober?
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:43 AM) Plus, my brother's been bothering me to take him since this past weekend. This here is a different story entirely.

Wait, you're seriously seeing the new Transformers movie?
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) Indians called up Chisenhall. I'll be interested to see how he produces, as his AAA slash line doesn't inspire much confidence.
-
Kenny's going to trade for him. He always gets his man, eventually.

Bring me football. Oh and happy bday.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 12:17 AM) Watched Wilfred tonight. Wish I thought it was as funny as you guys did. I mean, I will continue to watch, and it's an interesting concept, but I really didn't think it was very funny. I only recall one poster liking it... I still haven't thought it'd be a good way to spend any half hour, but I'll hit play eventually.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:30 AM) Transformers: Permanently Shadowed Craters. I'm calling it that from now on. Sounds like a Tweet. I'm stealing it.

Official SoxTalk Favorite Chicago Radio Shows
Steve9347 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I listen to sports radio all day at work, but this baseball season obviously has begun to wear on me. Enter: Google Music. I do catch B&B everyday, though.
