  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) Roberto Clemente was one of the first Hispanic/Latin superstars who really fought with the media about the way his phonetic pronunciation was "overexaggerated" by the media in print interviews to deliberately make him look ill-educated. I think it's okay to write the words that someone is trying to say if they're very very clear...just not pronounced correctly. Remember Sosa's "beisbol has been berry berry good to me" line? I think there's a a fine line between accuracy and deliberately trying to make someone look stupid. When Manny's vernacular is portrayed basically exactly how Ozzie sounds, having them next to one another shows a lack of authenticity. If you're cleaning up Ozzie, you clean up Manny.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 11:53 PM) You guys hate Ozzie so much you want him to look bad when he speaks? You bag on the person who makes him look good? Wow. Can't believe anybody would hate a WS winning manager that much and a guy who played ss for our team forever. You're a piece of work dude. Ozzie is much more lovable with the way he speaks than being incorrectly represented.
  3. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) http://backporch.fanhouse.com/2010/08/30/t...-up-on-waivers/ This is an epic fail because of how well they made Ozzie speak.
  4. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) So is this a tendon injury for Gordon then? What are possibilities besides bone, tendon...? I'd go with "soreness".
  5. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Brent Lillibridge b****es! And he more than made up for that throw. This also. That did not look good at all. Beckham has that bulldog mentality and he's been hit on the hand before, but I've never seen him grimace like that. I don't think were getting good news there, but I hope I'm wrong and it's just a deep bone bruise. Zoom just told me Beckham's x-rays were negative and he's day to day. I don't trust Zoom though!
  6. Holy crap, sitting around waiting for CSN postgame... was Mike Quade caught in a fire or some s***?
  7. You said it Stone Pony. 10 runs on 21 hits. Ugh. Linebrink for closer!
  8. I hope Gordon is ok... I'd like him in the lineup with the great Manny.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) you're like my wife -- always go to the dark place. Your butthole?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) Nice inning by Buehrle. We'll see Sale in the 7th. We like Sale.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) He's hasn't played in almost a week. Why would he need tomorrow off? *crickets*
  12. QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) I have over 6000 f***ing posts , steve....that people celebrate mind you. There is awesomeness spread all throughout. At least 2 for every 800 upon my very complex calculations. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) Ozzie I was referring to old-man Manny needing rest in Ozzie's eyes. My quote of yours and subsequent post was an utter failure. f***ing OZZIE, I'm so done with him. Manny should play every god damn game at DH until we're eliminated or there's champagne flying.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) Man I hope this clown retires after this season. Granpappy Manny? Grandmanny? Granny? Ozzie, the f***er has hardly played the last two months, we have 30 some games left, quit f***ing around. I can see it already. We're going to see Manny 3 out of every 5 games, when he should be the starting DH every night until his leg falls off.
  15. QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) I hope he keeps the dreads. It adds to the mega star allure but only if he comes here and mashes obviously would it matter. I have no problem with my team having a star that is going to be bring national attention and have other fans in awe when the man hits like a beast for us. Lets have a super star that everyone recognizes here on the Sox. Its a great thing from a fans perspective. I stopped giving a crap about steriods years ago. Your posts are very awesome in regards to this subject.
  16. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) You all are a bunch of pessimist, wow..... I think this team is easily talented enough to go 8-8 with a 2 game swing either way. Ha, so you see a possibility of the Bears being 6-10, but a 5-11 prediction is pessimistic?
  17. QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) Then snuggled down into his jock strap. hahaha
  18. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) What the heck does this mean? Wait. Now Manny can't play tomorrow night either? Maybe we'll see him by the final week of the season.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) Manny wearing 99 and batting 5th per beat writers! Ugh. 5th. UGHHHH Our 1-3 sux
  20. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) This whole Manny v. Hitler commentary is ridiculous. They didn't even have fertility drugs back in Hitler's day. On the other hand, I have heard that the Fuehrer once left a deuce to ripen in the middle of his bunker.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) They had 4 starting OF, no DH position and their leadoff hitter (since Furcal is down) happened to be one of those outfielders. Why pay Manny $4M to be a platoon/part time player? There were many reasons why they dumped him, I think this was a big one. In the post you quoted I brought up the fact that he "needs to be a DH". The man is getting old, but why are we acting like he's being banished from LA for acting up? That's not the case.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) As far as booing, I know my point is hypocritical, but I think Manny is a bad enough guy I could justify booing when he makes and out, just as I could justify booing Belle. Why? Manny has a track record of being an ass THIS SEASON. The Dodgers can't get rid of him fast enough. If anybody in baseball deserves booing based on quitting on his team again, it is Manny. Cheer him if he gets on base; boo his ass if he sucks. This is REALLY getting overblown. A big-time divorce is what caused the Dodgers to jettison their aging superstar, not his attitude. He's a 38 year old who needs to be a DH. There's an interested team willing to save that franchise 4 million bucks when they sure could use it. ESPN has a nice BS article up right now about Manny being jettisoned from two cities, but when he moved from Boston it was a big deal! It was HUGE! Go Dodgers!! If it's the Yanks picking him up, we're hearing how f***ing fantastic he is and how the Dodgers were out of it and needed the money so they let him go. Nothing more.
