  1. QUOTE (buckweaver @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Or perhaps..."Watch Manny inject some life into the White Sox!" We become the Yankees when we sign a known cheater because it may help us win. As a 46-year-old lifelong Sox fan who grew up listening to my grandfather's stories of Babe Ruth playing at the old palace, I implore Kenny Williams not to bring Manny Ramirez to the White Sox. As I posted in another thread a week or two ago (and that's saying something because I don't post very much), I consider Manny as the poster child for all of major league baseball's ills: greed, steroids, lazy, selfish. No debate there's blame for the steroid era abounding, but when you're injecting a needle into your ass or having someone else do it for you, it's wrong and you know it. So the blame starts with the players who did it. I honestly would rather miss the playoffs without Manny than be in them with him. If the White Sox bring him in I'm not sure I can call myself a fan of this team...and just typing that makes me feel as though I'm losing an appendage. To each his own. I'll take Manny.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) how do you know? names are leaked, but never released. He could be on waivers for all we know Well, that's a good point. Just from everything I've heard he's not on waivers yet. Maybe he is. I'm just saying this because we need him yesterday.
  3. When would we even see him on our roster? He's not even on waivers yet.
  4. Britney camel toe ftw.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) Well yeah, but Balta called it a correction, so I thought he meant that King had said something incorrectly. He was just asking a question, and I thought he was talking about consecutive batters on the same team anyway. Peter King is a fool.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 01:10 AM) And something about me just likes Frank in the booth I agree with this. On Sunday, he pointed out a few reasons that he expected the next pitch to be a curveball. Sure enough, it was a curveball. Being 27 years old, there aren't many players announcing today who defined my baseball existence more than Frank. In fact, there can be only one, and that's Frank Thomas. It's just difficult for him to contribute anything due to Hawks' dominant personality. He had no real choice other than to b**** about the umpires all weekend as well. When he did give insight, it was great, and I kept thinking "well, s***, Frank Thomas just said it, so it must be accurate". Then, when he was talking about Paul Konerko, it was just really interesting from the perspective of Frank Thomas, having been the best player on a team with Paul Konerko on it. We need as much Frank visibility as we can get, and I'm glad the organization/CSN are utilizing this. And you know Frank doesn't need the money, he just loves baseball. And I love Frank.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 09:05 AM) i just wish this would be done and over with one way or another. the longer this drags out the more games the twins can possibly gain. +8
  8. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Yeah, and then they go and cancel it... This feels much more like "story ran its course" than canceled. I think with "drug addiction" they've tackled everything Vince's character can go through to not stay on top.

    Slaves?

I'm a salaried individual. Unless I have a big-time project due, you can call me "tail lights" come 5pm.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 06:27 PM) back to the subject here, sportsbybrooks has a great rundown of the very hypocritical writings of Mr Mariotti in light of recent events. And a good portion of them pass judgment before anyone goes to court. I love it when you analyze.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) No doubt about it, my favorite is Frank & Hawk That was brutal. Hawk is impossible for a young announcer to man the booth with... it just involves Frank agreeing with Hawk even if he doesn't. Bad bad bad!
  12. QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) You must have fallen for his comments that he makes with such conviction even though its complete bulls***. I guess I'm just a moron then. I, too, listen to them everyday, and I just don't see him as having gotten that bad.
  13. QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) Curious about that specific 92% there steve. What is the 8% that is accurate. I am sure its fun to write snarky comments like what you just wrote also. Good times. Well, he does laugh and say funny things about 8%* of the time, but 92%* of his statements are factual, knowledgeable, and come from a perspective most of us drown out (60+ age). He is one of the few in his age range who seems to know how to speak to those of us still under the age of 30, and I seriously give him props for that. The man, in my opinion (and that's all any of this is) contributes a lot more than for which you give him credit. His Style (funny) may be throwing you off, but if you listen to what he has to say, this is more than just an elderly buffoon comedian who could be replaced by a soundboard (to which allude). Your ability or the conscious decision you make to dislike his color of comedy, and other such things you decide to gather from the time you listen are completely up to you. I think that most who listen to Boers and Bernstein can hear within the first 5 minutes that your paragraph rant was (EDIT: 92%!!!!) inaccurate. Terry Boers is extremely knowledgeable, and I think he passes on his knowledge well, with some damn-hilarious comedy mixed in as well. To each his own; I can understand not liking Terry Boers, but your review of him is just, well, inaccurate, in my humble opinion. *Number estimated by estimation within Steve's brain. Any use of said number is strictly prohibited by the Steve Brain Organization. I went with 92% rather than 100% because, well, he does exactly what you stated approximately 8% of the time!
  14. QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) I am sure all he did was laugh as he always does throughout every single entire show. He is brutal radio right now and I dont know if it is just his age but he doesnt even share complete thoughts anymore. He just laughs and makes random comments that are really just a bunch of words that he put in a hat and pulled them out and whatever order they came out is how he says them along with grunts and sceeching. This post is 92% inaccurate. I hope it was fun to write, though.
  15. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Entourage has been great this year. Agreed. I cannot believe how well it's rebounded.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) Ahhhh!! It happened again last night!! I had the Angels-Twins game on the TV, and multiple people walk in and are in full panic mode that I won't change the channel to the all-important Vikings-Niners pre-season game so they can see Brett Favre throw ONE DARN PASS. Seriously people?? His freaking press conference after the game was about 20X longer than his time on the field. One pass. One sack. Big deal!! I'm missing pennant race baseball for this? So aggravating. You're missing an important part of the equation here. Your goal is to watch important, pennant race baseball while getting paid to not solely watch the television. The following is what is expected from a paid employee of Joe's Sports Shack or whatever bar you work at... You: Work Them: Pay money, consume things, get blasted, and get what they want on tv. It's pretty easy. At least they aren't asking for a dogshow.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) 1. Lane is starting to come off as very phony and trying to hard to be funny. No. The dude seems quite authentic to me. And hilarious. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) 2. Why does Hayden has to yell at the camera in the Diary Room? Hayden needs to go home, but I think Enzo's in trouble after Brendan given all the sulking because of the Penguin outfit. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) 3. I'm better looking than your fiance, Britney! Sorry, Brtt's fiance, but you don't stand a chance. You shoulda locked that down marriage style prior to Big Brother. Britney basically has a bounty on her head right now.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 01:01 AM) We've out hit them 15-9. But we haven't out-grinded them.
  19. I really don't f***ing believe this s*** right now.
  20. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) The over/under on "no doubt about it" tonight from Frank is? 83
