Supposedly the White Sox looked at every ball Teahen hit in the last two seasons, and if he continues on the same track, he can hit way more homers in US Cell. TIFWIW.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) If MAG were a 3rd person tactical shooter like its SOCOM predecessors I'd likely be all over it, unfortunately I have little use for yet another first person shooter regardless of how many people will be participating in the battles finding unstoppable weapons combos and abusing the faults of the game. Gave it a little more spice.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) I love rotoworld's line. I'm as big of a Beane fan as there is around here, but this is the straight truth. It's sort of like he just resigned Rich Harden, except he's paying him more than Rich Harden is actually going to get. Add to that Sheets is older. Much older. Beane is lucky a book was written about him... I'll cue Hawk Harrelson and point out that he hasn't done s*** since the trio of Hudson, Zito, and Mulder were dealt/walked/started sucking.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) This kind of crap brings down the quality of this site IMO. Have your sewing circle spat on the side. Oh, I agree, and I've said exactly what you did and been suspended for it. So now I tow the company line.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) I'm done arguing about Thome coming back, because it's a dead issue at this point in time. Best thing posted in this thread in 24 hours.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) Isnt there an additional 100 pictures at the end of the movie in the unrated version? Eh, the pictures at the end of hte movie are the same. The "extra 100" are in a special features that includes the originals. It wasn't really worth the time to sit there and click like a slideshow. It's also a lot less entertaining witout Flo-Rida laying down the beats.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) We'll see. I lived in Kansas City from late 1996 through 2005, and then 2006-2007...so I've seen plenty of Royals' games firsthand or on the local network. Many Royals' players have succeeded during those lean years despite the "culture of losing." Jeff Montgomery, Kevin Appier, Carlos Beltran, Mike Sweeney, Jermaine Dye, J. Damon, Jose Rosado, Soria, Greinke, Joe Randa, DeJesus, etc. Heck, even Carlos Febles and Rey Sanchez have looked really good for seasons, not to mention Angel Berroa at SS. Maybe the "culture of losing" argument can be applied to the failures of all their first round draft picks, including Alex Gordon, but I'm not buying this argument entirely...largely because he's not going to be allowed to be a "complementary" player like Geoff Blum in Chicago, he's going to be hitting 5th, 6th or 7th, and that's what scares me. Yes, he had one torrid half-season, but the rest of his career has been pretty pedestrian for a corner infielder, to say the least. If you look at what we've gotten from all the Royals' castoffs over the last 10 years, it hasn't been a great "plus" overall. Of course, that's not a surprise, really. Just like it won't be a surprise if Brian Anderson, Josh Fields, Getz and Pods disappear from the baseball world within 2 years. Getz has a chance to hold on as a utility player somewhere, but not in a starting role for very many teams. This is a pretty awesome post.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) Watched the unrated version of The Hangover on blu ray last night. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between that and the theatrical release. Still a great comedy. They extended a few scenes, such as the speech on the roof of Caesar's. In the end, it needed nothing extra so it works regardless.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) Actually, to be accurate. Thomas was the DH for most of the season. When Everett replaced him, the team started to lose their 10+ game lead on Cleveland. Really, Jeremy? You've forgotten that much already? Thomas came back, had a hot bat and jacked an obscene amount of taters over a short span... I'd be suprised if he even played 35 games that year.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) The last year Kotsay was a full time starter was 2006. He's played part time the last three seasons. Shhhhh. Badger doesn't like facts!

So the Bears are being snubbed by guys who would rather sign with the Oakland Raiders now? The decision to keep Lovie on for a "one and done" and to can Ron Turner without having a successor in place is ridiculous. This team is an utter joke right now, and is going to go into next season having downgraded their OC. No one wants to sign a contract to play under a coach already on the hot seat. This team is screwed, and Jay must really be hating that forced trade.

I loved the Lee trade at the time, and still love it for obvious reasons. Sabre-boys be damned.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:07 AM) There may be boos though...but they'll be directed at management. Why? Why would you boo management. I want to see what Ozzie does knowing full well KW can bail him out. KW has big ideas for this season, and has assembled the best pitching staff, in my opinion, in baseball. The last time he did that we won the World Series. I am not going to boo this management, because they consistently show me their interest in winning and making smart baseball decisions. All I have to do is look to the North Side to know how valuable that can be.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) But in what way is the White Sox winning due to Ozzie Guillen's managing? Being associated with winning doesn't make you the cause of it. Did Robert Horry carry Houston, LA, and San Antonio to titles? He didn't carry them, but he sure as s*** had a lot to do with those teams winning. He had icewater running through his game. Big Game Rob, baby!

Big Jim, you will go into the Hall as an Indian, but you'll always be a White Sox in my book. I can promise we won't boo you when you return.

Jim is going to single-handedly hunt us all Predator-style. Prepare to be skinned.

LOL at the sad snowflake. I nearly spit coffee.

JimH is obviously a tool with anger issues who gets riled enough reading words on a computer screen to call folks out for a beer and a fist to the face. What a freak.

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
Steve9347 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Seriously, is there a cooler player in the NBA than Joakim Noah? I struggle to find someone out there who you can tell loves the game as much as he does and loves to win as much as he does. I don't think we give the organization enough credit for this draft pick. He is playing through a lot of pain, and this quote makes me giddy. ''When you get caught up in the game, you start forgetting about it,'' Noah said of the pain. ''It was pretty painful. It just feels good right now because we beat three solid teams in a row."
