  1. QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) Keep in mind that Kenny is going to have to spend on the bullpen this off-season. Even if Kenny pays Jenks arbitration, the middle relief is still an absolute mess. Maybe we'll see another Linebrink contract or two.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) I'd offer Torres, Getz and Shelby. I'd be operating under the assumption that the Nats want to dump salary to make room for having the probable #1 pick in next years draft. That was the idea.
  3. The writing seems to be on the wall... the Sox will have $$ to spend and he fits exactly what we will need. I'm sure Washington would deal him.
  4. QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) Yep. Didn't Dye and Thome both slump down the stretch in 2006?It certainly wasn't Dye, who easily could have won AL MVP that year what with his .315 average, 44 homers, 120 rbi, .385 OBP, and 1.006 OPS.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 12:27 PM) He needs a couple of days off to collect himself. I imagine that is why they are giving Fields another chance. I still can't believe Fields is back.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) If he's anything like Tyler Durden then this will be fun. Let's call Tyler Flowers "Project Mayhem".
  7. It doesn't matter what he does on Nip/Tuck or in the rest of his career, he was still in that awful Congo movie. /Ernie Hudson
  8. I cant' wait to beat the s*** out of Mickey Mouse with Wolverine in the first Marvel vs. Disney game.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) Why do people think we traded Jim for our sake? We did it to help him get a ring. Plus, it's nice and warm in LA.
  10. I look forward to watching his first start for the Sox sometime in the next couple weeks.
  11. Branyan and his career year are not something I'd be buying into.
  12. Since we're married to him, I want Rios in center pretty much every game from here on out.
  13. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) I know he had a high on-base. An I'm not making an argument. I didn't like him. We moved away from slug-ball in 2005 and we won it all. Then we moved back to it in 2006 and we went back to mediocrity. It's not a coincidence IMO. Give me guys who can run and play defense....not the complete opposite (Thome). We didn't really move away from slug-ball in 2005, we were 4th in the AL in homers. The issue was guys like Pods and Iguchi having career years at the right time, and our pitching being OUT OF THIS WORLD, it had nothing to do with the way our offense played.
  14. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 09:12 AM) Oh no, good forbid someone say anything negative about Jim Thome. The guy was a class act, but the fact of the matter is that we won the division just once in his 4 years here. He was not nearly as clutch are some of you are saying. He struck out all the time and could hardly score from 3rd on triple. Thome can't hit a fastball anymore. He is done. I guess I'm not a "fan" because I didn't like Thome. It's the ignorance of fact that seems to be where you fall flat on your face. Thome has a .372 OBP with an .864 OPS. He was damn productive still.
  15. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 12:33 AM) Josh Fields now also coming up tomorrow. GOD DAMMIT. I NEVER wanted to see him again.
  16. I'd love to see Peavy pitch sometime next week. There's no reason to let all of his hard work be for naught.
  17. Jose, for a brief period during 2005 and 2006, was the best pitcher in baseball. Without him, we're not still riding high from a 2005 Championship. Thanks for the memories, Bronze Titan!
  18. I dunno. I'm on the fence on dealing Thome. I don't mind that he doesn't play for us, but he's such a top-notch character I feel bad that Kenny dealt him to a situation where he will only be in line for pinch-hitting, making his quest for 600 even harder. However, it's just one month, and knowing Thome, he'd probably prefer to win a Series as a pinch-hitter than jack number 600. He is a class-act, and I'm glad we had him on the South Side, even though 2006 didn't work out like it really should have.
  19. I love the White Sox and will stay till the bitter end.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) Well what I was thinking of is going a more drastic route where when you log into each site there are a list of forums, but all the same database. When you go to Soxtalk, the baseball sites are at the top, when you go to TalkBears, the Bears forum is at the top. The Off Topic is the same forum and everything and basically put each site just has its own unique skin but in its entirety we are talking about one massive site with customized graphics. I have no clue how possible this is, but it was my idea. Basically put there would be the following forums (plus or minus some): Diamond Club, White Sox, Future Sox, Trade Winds (When Needed), Bears, Bulls, Generic Sports Forum. If stuff got very popular, there could be seperate forums for each sport..ie a baseball one, a football one, a basketball one, etc. And the order of the forums just depends on the site you are on. Well THAT'S interesting.
  21. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) What do you guys think? It's an ESPN league. I think picking Cassel one round after Rodgers was an epic fail.
