QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) Goodell is cooked Lying for Ray Rice. Yup, seems worth it to risk your job for that. And to think they were so naive to think the full video would never come out. -

Law enforcement official sent a copy of the tape to an NFL executive in April, per AP tweet. Good luck explaining the cover up and the lies, guys. Could be the beginning of the end for Roger. -

The only "insider" on IL finally jumped in to post Nova. Will be interested to hear why/how the recruiting went or any other details. Go get Evans... -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 10:05 AM) If Groce doesn't land Brunson, Evans or convince Murray to reclassify to 2015 and get him, there really won't be any reason other than blind hope to believe Groce will be able to win big at Illinois. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 10:14 AM) I think that's a little unrealistic. He's going for broke, which is fine, but he's also grabbing good, solid, 4 year guys too. Illinois has never been "in" on so many top level recruits before, even if he doesn't land one. The program itself is getting deeper and better. He made the tournament and won a game in his first year (first tourney win in 7 seasons). Last year he had I think the youngest team in the big ten, playing 2 freshman significant minutes. If we're in the same position in 2016 - bubble team, no impact recruits - then I might agree with you. But not going into year 3. Yes, blind hope is nonsense. While a big hit, it'd be a joke to throw in the towel on Groce if one of these two don't come here. There's been plenty to point to outside of "blind hope." -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) Lots of buzz at illinois loyalty about Brunson going to illinois, I take it with a grain of salt but damn is this exciting. I can't quit you, recruiting. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 02:42 PM) Sounds like MLB will be clarifying the home plate coverage rules here soon. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11489537...on-rule-clarity And here it is. Adding common sense to it. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11496686...e-not-fast-umps Now before you all read this and go "THE UMPS HAVE BEEN f***ING IT UP ALL YEAR!!!!!", that's simply not the case. If that was the case, it would have been corrected after the first and only time it happened that way. There are lengthy discussions, memos, rule interpretation meetings, videos, etc. on any new rule or rule interpretation when it goes in. This is EXACTLY how umpires were instructed to make these dumb calls, so this memo from Torre is ridiculous. This collision rule was covered back to front before the season started. MLB needed to adjust the rule and the interpretation, and it took them forever to do so. I love how Torre tries to escape any blame for it with the way he words things. Annnnnnnnnnnyway, I'm glad it's been adjusted. There can still be, and will be, some controversial plays, but at least common sense will enter in when guys are out by 15 feet.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 09:32 AM) Had to take a risk on Sankey, and oof. At one point he had 3 running backs getting carries over him. I don't know how you can be an NFL coach of a clear rebuilding team like the Titans and not give reps to the draft pick. It was obvious he wasn't going to get a ton of carries in game 1, you had to have someone else available. -
QUOTE (kevo880 @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) I am getting married in about 6 weeks and will be honeymooning in Maui for a week. We will be renting a Wrangler for the duration of our stay. We know that is unnecessary, but we registered to allow people to pay for us to do certain things on our honeymoon and pitching in towards renting a vehicle is one of them. Getting to the point, we will have pretty easy access to the whole island and we are staying in Kahana on the NW side of the island. Any suggestions on things that we should do that might not be listed on every tourist website? Any recommendations are appreciated! Daa covered a lot of good stuff, and yes, use that book. The other thing you could throw in is renting scuba gear and going out on your own, you don't necessarily have to do it as part of a tour. Also make sure to get some shave ice from the place in town (it's in the book). I'll completely disagree that the car isn't necessary, we used ours almost every day. You'll be very thankful you have it.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) How wasnt their much to post about in February? We knew about the "abuse"then. If youre such a domestic violence crusader you didnt need to see a more explicit video. Where were all the people telling his fiance not to marry him, that hes an "abuser" etc? The suspension came out in July, once again, where was all of this? Its just like the beheading videos. I dont need to see a reporter having his head cut off to know how brutal it is. I am just as outraged seeing it or not seeing it. Same with back in February where literally no one cared about this. You're straight-up trolling at this point. There wasn't much to post in February, because again, the NFL didn't make any terrible decision regarding the suspension. If you want, feel free to go find everyone's posts saying "cool, he knocked that b**** out, domestic violence is cool" in February. I DIDN'T need to see more video. That's the point. Nor should the NFL have needed to see more video, even though there's no doubt they did, tried to cover it, and this forced their hand. You still can't comprehend that the majority of the outrage came when the NFL announced their punishment. And yes, there were posts about it then, feel free to go back and read them. They were there in July, too. The media was all over it then, too. There were posts then, there were posts now. The point still remains the same, the NFL and the Ravens got it wrong the first time. That's where all of this discussion started. Since then, other topics have come up in here, provoking more discussion than at the original time. This didn't just start yesterday. BW's post hit the nail on the head. /shrugs. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 03:00 PM) Its not a false narrative at all. There have been more news stories/coverage in the last few days than in the other months combined. So much so, that there is a whole thread dedicated to "Ray Rice" in this forum. Where as all that posting back in February? Do you understand how news works? Wasn't much to post about in February, NFL hadn't a terrible error in judgment at that point. /shrugs. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) Just making s*** up here. There's no evidence of that, at all. Also, I'd like the record to show that we're treating women differently here, even though we're not supposed to. Equality, right? If Rice had hit another guy in the elevator this is a non-story. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 02:38 PM) What is the appropriate response? No one has any of the facts. I would say the appropriate response would be to ask the victim, what she wants. To investigate to determine if this was a pattern of abuse, or a single incident. And then once you have all the facts to make a ruling and stick by it. And if you have some sort of animosity towards how this was handled, I would think the venom should be at the NFL and Ravens. Why not say the NFL has to donate a lot of money to DV, why not say the Ravens do? Why not have the Ravens forfeit the season, or actually hit the people who "failed to appropriately handle it". That seems to be logical and an appropriate response. We have no facts? Haha. Leave it up to the victim? What? NFL can do what they want. Investigate...? You've seen the video, no? You can take action based on that. You realize a lot of this venom is at the Ravens and the NFL, and has been for a long time, right? Either way, Rice is the one who also needs to be punished, and was. This whole outrage is because the NFL absolutely f***ed up the original punishment. /SHRUGS -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) Sorry words have meaning. Once again, the "abuser" suggests repeated occurrence. If you wanted to appropriately talk about the situation Ray Rice would be the perpetrator and his wife would be the victim. Perpetrator does not imply repeated actions and the same point comes across. You almost never interview the perpetrator at the same time as the victim. But come on, youre smarter than this and actually knew the implications of your statements. I have no problem with people thinking he is an abuser, Im just saying as of today, there is very little hard evidence to support it. No, you just read too much into it. Abuser can mean exactly what I said it meant. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) The term abuser implies repeated action. a·bus·er someone who regularly or habitually abuses someone or something, in particular. Your words, not mine. Anyone who has any experience with domestic violence knows that the term "abuser" is reserved for those who have done it multiple times. Not someone who got into a single altercation. /shrug Abuser and the victim. Person who abused? Is that better? It was pretty clear what was meant when talking about interviewing the abuser and the victim in the same room. But thanks for the lawyer speak. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) Krush keeps referring to him as an "abuser" thats the implication of the term, sorry. /shrug That's one hell of a stretch, I was describing the abuser, which is a person who did the abusing, and the victim. But, as was said before, it's quite certainly possible it's happened before. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 09:58 AM) This is not a case of a married couple headed for divorce at the time of the interview/hearing...this is not the case of a couple on the outs...this is a couple that was just married...if there is still not enough trust between the two of them for her to accurately recount the events, without fear of retribution, than her testimony is not credible in the first place. Sounds like something that would come from the NFL as part of the smear campaign. You absolutely cannot have the abuser in the room when asking the victim to recount the story when it comes to domestic violence. That's not hard to understand. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 04:41 PM) Yeah it's not the Ravens, it's the NFL preventing him from getting another job (if there is one) because of the suspension. Also, Jesus: http://deadspin.com/keith-olbermann-on-rog...dium=socialflow Again with the overreaction. This is damn near grounds for a defamation claim if it's not true. Overreaction? Hardly. Not quite sure how you're still defending this whole thing. He's spot on here, and has been for months on this. Now everyone else is finally catching up. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 04:44 PM) He is such a blowhard I keep hearing people making this point...do people just disregard the fact that she MARRIED the guy after this incident? Did he force her to do THAT too, under threats of another beating? Come on... The NFL f***ed up the entire investigation. They interviewed her with Ray in the room. You absolutely positively cannot interview a person that's been abused with said abuser IN THE ROOM. It's absolutely incredible. So, what he's saying is correct, marriage or no marriage. -

Cliff, and Jalen are close and cites the way Illinois fans treated Cliff after he chose Kansas as a reason kids won't go to Illinois, including Brunson. Meh, every fan base has assholes on twitter or whatever. That clearly is not any sort of big factor. NO ONE would have given Cliff s*** if he just "picked" Kansas. The absolutely classless way he did so is was brought on the deserved heat. Any idiots of a fan base would have did the same thing after being disrespected like that. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) Refuse to get sucked in....refuse to get sucked in... He's gonna pick up the Illini hat and put it back on the table. Sigh. I really thought MSU was the choice. Villanova. Ugh, they have had some good guards, but what's the connection there? And why play in a s***ty conference when you can play in the big ten? Let's just get one. Please. If not, we're f***ed for a while. Someone at 24/7 switched their pick from ILL to OK State. Man that'd be a kick in the balls if we don't get either one. He does that and he's the biggest loser to come out of Stevenson since Rowand44. Oh, and not just someone...Meyer. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) As long as we get one of JE/JB then I really don't care, we just need one of them and the rest of the class will take care of itself. I'm in 100% agreement. But if JB goes to Nova we go from 2 shots to 1, and came in second place again. I think every single crystal ball and prediction will be Villanova, and "official" word will probably leak before Wednesday anyway. So unless it's a shock the world situation, Evans or bust. -
