QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) It's never going to happen but I don't even know what I would do if Evans, Brunson, and Thomas went to Illinois. I would probably paint everything I own orange. Everything. Now that I got that out of the way, feeling really good about getting one of Brunson/Evans and being stoked about finally getting our PG of the future. I'll come help you paint if you come help me paint. I'm hoping for the best and bracing for the worst. Just hope to land one of them, and hopefully one of the other targets. Hell even just one of those guys is enough at this point, I won't get greedy in case the recruiting Gods are reading this. Also I s*** you not, I had a dream last night about Brunson's visit. Nothing concrete happened (and I woke up early from it), but I woke up confused as hell. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) My 10 team ppr league QB Aaron Rodgers RB Eddy lacy RB Chris Johnson WR Dez Bryant WR Andre Johnson WR Reggie Wayne TE Vernon Davis FLEX Emmanuel Sanders DEF Chiefs K Blair Walsh Bench QB Tony Romo RB Ryan Matthews RB Joique Bell RB Darren McFadden WR Marquise Lee TE Jason Witten DEF Bengals Play Joique Bell over Chris Johnson, especially in PPR. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 12:56 PM) Not a fan. Although I don't play standard leagues, if your RBs hold up and Leveon Bell doesn't miss major time with a looming suspension it could be pretty nice. Wes Welker got his third concussion in what, 10 months? Who knows what you would get from that guy going forward, hes undraftable to me now. Jackson is too inconsistent. And as said already, Newton is banged up and has very little offensive weapons. Although, I guess you could say thats always been true about him. And I cant stress this enough, but people please go for upside with your bench. What does Shonn Greene, Legerrette Blount, and Chris Ivory offer you? They have no upside, where as guys like Carlos Hyde and Devonta Freeman are one broken down RB in front of them from becoming impact workload guys. Justin Hunter is going way late in drafts, he has 30 career catches in the preseason and regular season, 8 of them have gone for TDs. Hes a guy who could explode this year, Riley Cooper doesnt have the upside that a Justin Hunter has. Just my two cents. You can't have all upside on your bench and wait for injuries, you also need some usefulness. Right now Greene should get some points if you have an injury/bye week etc. In that situation, you are playing Green over a Freeman or a Hyde at this moment. You need some safety guys to actually contribute. Hyde may not do anything unless an injury. You need a balance. Every team needs some Fred Jackson's etc. to contribute in spots to go along with some lottery picks. Also depends how big your bench is. If you have 4 bench spots, you really don't have room for lottery tickets unless they are handcuffs. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 07:07 PM) 8 games means hes back week 10 (They have a bye week 4) which means you would have him for 7 weeks if you go all the way to the title game. If you can make the roster spot work its definitely worth it. Ill edit it my leagues are the same as you stated, and I would think any legit league would be set up the same. I don't think every legit league has 4 weeks of playoffs. In a ten team league, we put 4 in. 15 and 16. That's legit enough, 6 teams shouldn't be making the playoffs in a 10 team league. If you have 12 teams I'm unsure of your set up to have 4 weeks worth of playoffs. Are you really putting in 8 teams? Also leagues should pay out for regular season as well, not just the more luck-driven playoffs at the end. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) Screw it, I'll throw mine in here. It's a 14 team league, so keep that in mind before you rip me to shreds... QB- Romo WR- Dez WR- Wright RB- Forte RB- Jennings Flex- CJ1K TE- Gronk K- Vinatieri DEF- Patroits Bench- Freeman, Hyde, Wheaton, Stills, Gordon and Matthews Yes, I know my WR's are weak unless Gordon plays. I was a bit paranoid about getting RB depth and I still had WR's I liked on my list until the 9th round or so. Unfortunately, the starting RB's were gone by the end of round 5 (unless you count S-Jackson (6th) and DeAngelo Williams). I'd never played a real league that deep and I could have done a bit better. Yahoo's draft analyzer says I'm going to win the league though! If I had to do it over, I'd have grabbed Gio in the 2nd, Jeffrey or Antonio Brown in the third. I still don't think I would have been totally happy though because I would have had to take someone like Patterson, Desean Jackson or Floyd in the 4th or wait until the 8th to get Tate, Randle or Hunter (didn't really like the receivers there at my 5th). With the benefit of hindsight, I'd have probably liked my team the most if I still went Jennings/Johnson in the 4th and 5th and gone Wright/Tate/Sanders in the 7th/8th/9th not sure I'd have guessed to go that way though. I also wouldn't have Gronk in that scenario, would have probably waited for Pitta in the 10th that way. It's REALLY hard to like your team when it's that deep. Very odd league if you were able to get Forte and Dez in a 14 teamer. Who the hell did everyone draft between Forte and Dez? That's just stupid. Combined with Gronk, should be pretty good. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 10:30 PM) I disagree with this as an absolute. It makes a difference for many players. However, in this case, I agree. Beckham always had that "hitch" in his swing. I t prevented him from hitting good fastballs Once the league figured it out, he refused to make an adjustment. Maybe between DH and playing a position, but I simply cannot see how playing 3b or 2b or whatever affects the ability to take your bat and either hit or not hit a pitch coming at you. There's no logic behind it. The game doesn't know.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 12:13 PM) How dare you draft Brady again. I traded for him last year. Traded Vick for Brady not quite halfway through the year. He was something like top 6 or 8 the second half of the year. If you don't get one of the big 3 of QBs you're better off being the last guy to grab one. I'm fine with any of Brady, Romo, Ryan, Cutler late. Week to week they are all the same. He was there in the 8th. He's going to have a good enough year. He has as good a chance of being 4th in the league as any of those other guys. -
Do you know what 3,000 plate appearances is called? A large sample size. Defensive position makes zero difference on being able to hit a baseball.

First draft tonight. 10 team PPR. One keeper - mine was Ball in the 5th. QB T. Brady RB L. McCoy RB M. Ball WR A. Brown WR P. Garcon Flex M. Crabtree TE J. Reed Bench: RB: P. Thomas, A. Williams, D. Brown, L. Blount WR: K. Wright, J. Gordon, A. Hawkins Gordon in the 10th, worth a flier as a WR5 who has top 5 potential if he plays at all. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) So if Chicago wins tonight do they play a one game US championship on Saturday or do they have to beat Nevada twice? Only one game. Which isn't really fair in a "double elimination" tournament.

I'm shocked it was upheld. Logically it makes sense for it to do so, but by the letter of the rule, it doesn't make any sense, there's nothing in there that supports it. I have no idea how they got away with that. A tarp is not mechanical.
-
Called. 4:34 later. Ouch.
-
Cubs have been in a rain delay for 3 hours...except it hasn't rained in a while. They had an issue calling for the tarp late, and when they did, they couldn't get it on before a ton of damage was done. It's midnight and they are still considering playing. Only the bottom of the 5th. Everyone is just standing around watching the field dry, because not a lot can be done. So bizarre.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Are they "Golden Rams"? You should go into a Golf Galaxy or something under the premise of being interested in some irons to see what your swing speed is with a 7-iron. I'd be interested to see that. I don't believe so. They look like "standard ass Rams." Alright, I'll keep that in mind and see if I can get that done within the next few weeks.

Arkansas. Have fun there. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Yeah, something is not right...either he almost never makes good contact or he needs new clubs. I think contact is OK most of the time, just not a ton of power. Although, my actual 3 and 4 irons are old Rams from my dad's set. The set I have has a 4 hybrid which goes further for sure, I just need to learn to hit it better.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 03:29 PM) I've got the undefeated ACC team, the undefeated Pac 12 team and the 1 loss and undefeated SEC teams in way before a one loss Big Ten team. That's a lot of assumptions. But, I was reacting literally to your post about "having to be undefeated." Not totally specific to MSU. I just highly doubt 4 teams are undefeated at the end of the year, let alone 3. So, if MSU did win that Oregon game and had only 1 loss, they are probably in that conversation for one of those spots, depending on how it plays out. Maybe not more than 50% chance, but they'll be in the mix for it. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) The Over-the-Top Fade/Slice is probably the most common. This is when your swing path is wayyy outside to inside and and your club face angle is fairly square to your target but still open to that big swing path. The ball starts out on target but then quickly takes a big right hand turn due to the swing path. Which do you guys struggle with? It sounds like this guy. It's usually a quick, then longgggggg fade back, when it's bad. But I've gotten rid of most of those. Maybe I'm closer to your first one now that I have changed my swing a bit.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) When I said what kind of grip, I meant the way you grip the club with your hands...not the type of grips physically on your club. Sorry for the confusion. Like I was saying a few days ago with Rock...it's certainly very tough to diagnose from descriptions...especially since most golfers don't really know what they are doing anyways... As for clubs...you certainly don't need to drop thousands...if you do intend on getting "serious" about it, I would advise investing in a better set of irons...then you can add to your set with a driver, putter, wedges, fairway woods as you see fit. You can get a pretty good set of used irons usually for $400-500, if that is more appealing to you...the one catch is that they should "fit" you. Rock mentioned you were "tall enough" to hit the ball a long ways...how tall are you? What club do you normally use if you are 150 yards from the green? I totally read that wrong, as I know guys have different grips etc. actually on the club itself. I've been messing around with the grip. For my driver, it's almost a baseball grip, which I know shouldn't be happening, but I've had best results with it. Irons I try to have the overlap, if that's what you call it, try to put the thumb on the top of the grip. Not the interlock. Is interlock better though? I've tried some shots here and there with it, I should experiment more with it. I'm 5'9-5'10, I'm no Rock in terms of height. If I'm 150 out, I'm likely hitting a 3 or 4 iron, and probably not reaching the green. May even hit a 4 hybrid. I need a 2/3 hybrid, or something of the sort, so I can get further when going up the fairway. Even if my weak ass drive goes 175 somewhat straight, I still have a long ways to go on most holes. I'm not reaching it in 2. I have reached in 3 with putts for par here and there, which is exciting (never make them though as they are usually from far out). I also need to measure exactly how long each of my irons go (if hit correctly). I have an idea, but right now I play the ol "looks like a 7" and go and hit it.
