  1. There was no point in us winning down the stretch to hurt our draft pick. You don't tank, but as a true fan, a higher draft pick is clearly better than a few absolutely meaningless wins at the end of the season. Go ahead and try to argue otherwise.
  2. Anyone playing Detroit Buffalo Sidney's Crew SJ
  3. The hawks f***ing won the draft lottery, they held an 8.1% chance of attaining the #1 pick. Too bad there's no malkin/crosby/ovechkin available, but still. They can now select THE guy they want. Or they could try to trade it for top 6 help.
  4. Yes, or as an official pinch runner for someone.
  5. Well at least they got to a final four while they were all around
  6. First off, that courtesy runner cannot enter the game during that half inning. If he enters the game later on they can use a different courtesy runner, using the same original rules.
  7. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 05:25 PM) I'm sure they have sound as well. Then they have the mute button on. I'd say draw your own conclusion, not base it off of what some program talks about.
  8. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) Not sure why PTI would have a segment on it if it actually hit him. I'd think their video crew would make sure it actually didn't him if they were going to make it a part of the show. Ears>Eyes
  9. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) I thought the school had to release him if the coach left? They have to make the choice to release them, IIRC. Otherwise they can transfer and sit out the one year. It's not automatic or anything to be released.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) If AJ wasn't hit by the pitch then what the hell was the thud right before the ball hits the catcher's mit? http://media.putfile.com/AJ-Hit It certainly hit him, as an ump you don't look for it, you listen for it. It was obvious the second it happened.
  11. Total non story, only making a deal out of it cuz OMG IT'S AJ AND IT'S CONTROVERSIAL. It hit him, would have hit 90% of other lefthanders as well.
  12. I don't think they were ever supposed to be salt rings from sweat, the spot is from the rosin bag, and the constant touching of the back of his cap. I noticed yesterday is hat is spot clean since the season just started, and he doesn't quite look the same.
  13. I see the preview now. Since there are only 3 games in the NHL tonight, I see the MLB games starting with "Game 5" which is 465. How much did it cost you? Did you get any sort of early bird discount?
  14. And if you have NHL Center Ice...
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 07:02 AM) I watched my buddy's son pitch last night. Kids good. Sophomore playing Varsity for a really good program. He had been out for a couple weeks so it took a couple innings to settle himself down, but after giving up 2 and 1 runs the first two innings he cruised the rest of the night in a 13-3 complete game win. Now the question, what the hell is a "courtesy runner" for the catcher? Basically whenever the catcher got on base, and he was always on base it seemed, they could bring in a courtesy runner. The reasoning was to speed up the game by having the catcher ready with his gear on. Is this national? When did it start? And, while I really like the DH at the mlb level, I am against it in High School, College, and Minors. It's by state adoption. Illinois uses it here. You can courtesy run for the pitcher and/or the catcher whenever they get on base. It doesn't have to be just with 2 outs, and you don't have to use it at all if you dont' want to. Yes, it is a suggested speed up rule, and many times it's worth it to use it. The person being run for has to be the catcher or pitcher of record, it can't be based on a future substitution - "this kid is catching next inning, i'm going to run for him." The courtesy runner has to be someone from the bench who hasn't been in the game. A player can only be the courtesy runner for the pitcher OR the catcher, but not both. Most times teams use a bench kid that pretty much has no chance of being in the game as a normal substitute, and he'll run for the catcher (or pitcher) every single time, unless that catcher or pitcher has extraordinary speed.
  16. Habby was freaking ridiculous tonight. And yes, they win 4 straight to keep moving up the draft order...awesome.
  17. Hawk would be fine if he wasn't so much of a ridiculous homer. Root for the Sox, fine, but I'm sick of every replay of a pitch that a sox pitcher throws, he goes "that was a strike" even if the thing looks a foot inside on the replay. Come on already. His blatant defense of Ozzie on anything and everything is also stupid.
  18. No surprise, the 4 juniors are going to enter the NBA draft, per espn.com
  19. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) dayom. they have 15 hits through 4 but only 2 runs... not horrible! f***ing yahoo is f***ed, eh? What's more impressive is that Uribe has 2 home runs, yet we have no runs.
  20. What game are you guys watching? LOL http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=270405104
  21. That's just bad baseball, plain and simple. You don't make that throw, a perfect throw without hesitation wouldn't have got him, end of story.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) Farmer's scoreboard update is about 30 minutes old. "Are the blue jays coming back in that game?" "It's 10-2. No" (That game is now 10-9) That's because the out of town scoreboard at the Cell is beyond worthless. They update it basically every half hour, and all they have to worry about is the score and which team is up. Other parks have baserunners, outs, etc, and they can keep it updated. It's a joke, they might as well take it down.
  23. That one was indeed a strike, he just missed it. Some of the calls have been close and I don't like to call pitches from home, but that one had plenty of the plate.
