Delgado...now THAT'S my definition of going for it all, cuz it would take a boatload. That's putting all the chips into the middle.

This next stretch of games til the break is a freakin cakewalk, er, should be a cakewalk. Seriously, can't play down to the level of the opponent, we shoudl win every damn series til the break, plain and simple. No mental lapses. I felt the impact when he made the glove flip to jose for the double play tonight. Poetry and made it look just so smooth

Ya, Weaver/Ponson, i don't think any more lineup help is needed really, and where would we put em?
-
Leave .500 out of the equation, which makes me think mediocrity 9 of 12 through the gauntlet of minne/cubs. Unreal
-
Ah, cwsox, the wise one

One word: Believe What can't you like about tonight? PK of all people ties the friggin game with 1 out left in the ballgame. Unbelievable, really just unreal Then Frank with the amazing at bat, just amazing bat control and batting eye, i was awed by every pitch and what he did with it. That's the old Frank, and that's a scary thought for AL pitchers. To win a game like this, and close a series out with a sweep is just amazing. Close out the 12 game gauntlet with 9 wins. 9 wins! Who would have thought? We've battled through one of the toughest stretches of the year with some ridiculous finishes to games and now this team has found itself; it has an identity, and damn it, it's going places. Wow

What a f***ing at bat by Frank f***ING Thomas. Ah, sleepin easy tonight
-
That's not a problem that's a luxury, and i wouldn't go that far yet. Rather have too many bats than too few, that's for damn sure.

I think a proper mix between number crunching and seeing guys first hand is necessary. I don't think you can afford to put the stop watch and radar gun guys out of work. Some people have a knack for finding players. But like Nick Bakay says, the numbers never lie. Beane is definitely an interesting character and i'm learning a lot of things about him in this book.

I work at an IT staffing agency, so i've seen thousands of resumes. That doesn't make me an expert or anything, but i can tell you what i see at least from other people Organization is key, for sure. Basically when we present candiates we use one format that consists of an executive summary, skills, professional experience (current to first job), education, and certifications/awards. That's the basic format or IT stuff, but i imagine you'd want things like that on whatever resume you are applying for. Also, if you go to monster.com or hotjobs.com, you can see what people put on their resumes and how they format them. Oh, and all that stuff that says "i'm a hard worker" blah blah blah, we delete that before we present people anyway. It's all bulls*** fluff

I'm workin 40 hours at this office job and then umping usually 2-3 times on the weekdays and 2-3 games each on saturday and sunday, so i hear ya Jason. And to think i was an eager just graduated freshman in HS years back, anxious to start working. Oh boy
-
Abritration is no guarantee you'll end up signing the player. He could be gone next year and take the picks like Jason said.

Well, it seems like only a little while ago i joined these boards and started trading thoughts with fellow hardcore, knowledgeable Sox fans. And here i am at 1,000. First of all i'd like to thank my agent....nevermind, who am i kidding Anyway, thanks to all that contribute to these boards and help me discuss our beloved White Sox in a great forum. Thanks to all that run these boards (i don't know all of you yet) and provide us with a place to talk. I look forward to meetin some of the personalities on this board, seems like some real interesting people on this board.

He's basically saying that the question is unanswerable at this time, which is true.

Ya, it's called runs created...my sophomore coach had that stat and i was around 9 runs per game with a lineup full of myself. Probly because i hit for average and stole a ton of bases. Anyway, what hurts Beane's philosophy is that the heart and soul of his organization lies in his 3 aces, and soon to be 4th - Harden. I am more than interested to see how the A's progress in the next 3 years.
-
Well Paul Bako is pretty disgraceful behind the plate, and Miller is doing a helluva job with that pitching staff anyway. You could see Josh Paul at the friendly confines before too long.

cwsox, saw this bumper sticker the other day: "married priests preach family values" thoughts?

cwsox, i'm laughing out loud in my cubicle, please stop

Obviously that should have been phrased better - I hate the annoying man who brings his daughter and her girlsfriends to the games and sits a few rows in front of me - the idiot stands up, half takes his wallet out of his pocket, and says, "what do you want" and his daughter says "some food item" and then he says "you can't have that" and she names another food item and they go all through the menu item by item until they fiunally agree what she can have, and then he asks the girlfriends if they want it, too, and they of course don't, so we go throuigh that all over again for each girlfriend. And that is like 3 times a game. Can't the f***er ask the question and play that game SITTING DOWN? lmfao Why do people have to stand up the entire time they are receiving/paying for their food. It's amazing, you can still move your hands while you are sitting down.
-
They are indeed asking for a ton. Are they going to be able to afford what he gets in arbitration? that's a huge question mark for that team.
-
They want Alomar, yet at the same time they seem to be shopping Beltran...have they decided which way they are going to go?

There's a piece in the back of Sports Weekly concerning moneyball Says how his philosophy hasn't proven anything, because his whole 2002 draft was based on that, and we won't see those results for a few years. So it doesn't prove as much as some people think.

#9 is a few of my cubs buddies biggest complaint about the park, and one of the easiest to fix And concerning the o e o thing, i could swear in the Wizard of Oz, it goes "oh we loathe, the old one" This will probly start a 50 post debate about what is said in Wizard of Oz. I can tell you this much, because i argued it at a family party and had some backing. The Wizard of Oz official board game says that that whole part is a bunch of jibberish and qualifies it as "nothing"

I got ya down for it. BTW, i'm in the middle of moneyball. Solid stuff
