QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 02:03 PM) I understand that this sucks and it is very annoying for you, but why is it necessary to post his picture on here? Seems odd. Glad they found the guy though. What's the difference? Are you trying to turn this into a race thing?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 10:16 PM) Welcome back Hoss. I enjoy having Winnipeg in the division. Nostalgia, sweet logo, Canadian team, ex Hawks, and lots of Hawks goals being scored. Hardly knew ya, Hoss

QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) Tom Crean just got bailed out by a questionable charge call. Shot clock was off and IU wasn't fouling while trailing. IU lost anyway. Good finish. Should have run the Griffey layup play -
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 04:16 PM) Makes the final weeks of the season all that more interesting. Seeing as home ice and the Presidents Cup mean dick this keeps it interesting and why NHL playoffs from game one until the cup is hoisted are pretty cool. The NHL playoffs would still be all of that without the silly scoring system. Nothing like sitting there, as a bubble team, rooting for games not to go to overtime so it turns into a 3 point game.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) Nope. 2 points for a regulation win, 1 point for an OT or shootout win, zero points for a loss of any kind. I would never reward a loss. No. If you lose in a skills competition, you can't hand a team no points for that. That's garbage. You call it not rewarding a win, I call it not punishing losing a silly skills competition. You also still have the issue of games not being worth the same amount, which needs to happen. Either do 3 for a RW, 2/1 split once it gets to overtime, or 3 RW or OT W, 2/1 split if it makes the skills competition.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 10:21 AM) The victim has a mental condition that caused her to snap and commit suicide. That isn't on the university. And investigating it becomes pointless once the victim is dead. It's hard enough to prove anything with a cooperative victim. The f*** it's not. Why did she "snap" and commit suicide? Woke up one day and randomly decided to? No, because she got molested and was threatened and then no one investigated it. But hey, keep reading all your police reports or whatever you have special access to that have been doctored up and tell you otherwise. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) Yeah, other than the severity of the alleged crime, the existence of DNA evidence, the existence of witnesses, and the authority level of the people telling the victim not to press charges, it's almost exactly the same. You forgot suicide. And investigating it. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 06:47 AM) Big difference between two friends doing it to the alleged victim and the police doing it to the alleged victim. But I guess when your team hasn't won a conference game in forever, all you can do is paint others with a broad brush. You sure wish there was a big difference. Hopefully this victim doesn't hurt herself. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 10:24 PM) After the disgusting debacles that occured at Penn State, Notre Dame and Steubenville, you think people would understand how dumb it is to threaten people with the magical power of football. But no. Still happening it seems. Problem is that it worked at ND, nothing happened to the program. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 07:20 PM) You don't think that was interference? So say the defender that ultimately intercepted the pass wasn't there, and the ball fell closer to Gronk's feet, you don't think they should have called interference on Kuechly? The defender was there, though, which to me makes a huge difference. And the ball wasn't really catchable even if he wasn't, IMO.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 08:35 PM) Not sure this is crawfords fault. Can't pull 18 skaters.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 06:39 PM) I'm saying whether something is catchable shouldn't even be a consideration. If there is an infraction, there is an infraction. If the ball is in the air and hasn't been touched, you can't interfere with a receiver. Gotcha. I disagree with that, as there has to be some judgment involved somewhere. Ultimately I think if they never threw a flag last night, not much would have been made of it. Once you throw it and then take it back, it opens the floodgates. Was Gronk catching that pass? No way in hell. Was there a penalty? Debatable. So the outcome of Panthers winning is ultimately the correct one, but the way they got there wasn't very clean.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 06:20 PM) And this is why the officials shouldn't be trying to determine in real time whether a play that close was catchable. You guys, who I consider pretty bright guys, can't even agree after looking at the replay all day. The defender interfered with the receiver while the ball was in the air and prior to it being touched by a defensive player. Jenks, please explain to me why the refs should go through some real time determination of an freak athlete's capabilities (combined with a moving object, other moving players, etc), rather than enforcing a clear infraction that NO ONE. Denies occurred? If you're arguing that they shouldn't determine if it's catchable or whatever in real-time, you can slice that argument both ways. You can't just assume everything is catchable, either. The answer could be that it needs to be reviewable.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 11:21 AM) I don't really see it that way. I see Gronk heading towards the back of the endzone and he maybe slows down. About the time the ball is intercepted Keuchly is denying Gronk from getting to the spot where the ball may end up. Gronk is never going towards the ball (towards the front of the end zone) and by the time his motion is really impeded the ball is already intercepted. Perfect description of what happened.
-
The only reason this is an issue is because a flag was originally thrown, then there was no call and they picked it up. If there isn't a flag thrown to begin with, no one outside of NE would have thought there was legit PI there, it would have been a pick and game over. Gronk wasn't catching that by a long shot, at best he would have maybe been able to break up an interception.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) Well, if he's right that they'd only have 18 seconds (versus 10 or 7 or whatever) while giving the ravens the ability to change their packages and call a wider variety of plays, it makes sense. I just don't know if he's right about the time that'd be left. The guys above me covered it, but his blanket statement of there being 18 seconds left is just a wrong assumption, and very likely not to happen. It's not a tie game either, so Ravens are trying to score a TD on any given play, not run the clock out on their end. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) He would only be right about the time if the Ravens didn't score a touchdown nor throw an incomplete pass nor go out of bounds. Then you would use the 3 timeouts and the Ravens could run down the play clock all 40 seconds before fourth down. However, if they did get to 4th down, they probably kick a field goal and you can go to overtime anyway. I liked his explanation about forcing the Ravens' hand in regards to personnel and play-calling, but had they scored a touchdown, those 30 seconds that ticked off would have been vital. It's an OK explanation, but let's face it, with 2 timeouts left and a minute or so left when they got the first down at the 5, if they really wanted to have certain personnel in the game, they could easily do so either on the first down, after an incompletion, using their own timeout, etc. His talk about 18 seconds and personnel really doesn't add up unless the Ravens had no timeouts there.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 05:00 PM) Well isnt the real question what is the probability inside the 10 that the other team will score a td or fg? Because part of the reason you save time is so that you have a chance to win in regulation even if the other team kicks a fg. His explanation doesn't make any sense. The whole 13% is out the window at that point, it makes no difference where the drive started. If he actually thinks it makes a difference and we're reading it correctly, he's pretty stupid. You're wanting to save time there no matter how they score. You really need it if they scored a td because there aren't any outs like there are if they got a fg. My take was that you needed to really protect yourself against the td there.
