  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 10:38 PM) Because the game is on NBC, not NBCSN thankfully With the alternative being watching this garbage, people would find a way to watch it even if it was on MTV85.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 10:28 PM) I'm sure it will be the usual lineup tomorrow Good thing tomorrow is the game absolutely no one will be watching.
  3. Sox should refund fans' money for this one.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 04:53 PM) some guy just called into the score and suggested the blackhawks get rid of patrick kane to keep brian bickell on the roster. meathead f***ing bandwagon pieces of s*** all of them. I "heard" that call as well. I'm not a bandwagon fan, f*** you.
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 12:45 PM) Done......................Wish they all could win............All are heroes to me. Exactly, they are all deserving. I put a vote in for him.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) People are saying that they want Toews & Kane separate so that one of them can avoid Chara. Keep them together and it's all Chara all the time. I agree about Mayers, but he seems to have gotten in Q's doghouse before the playoffs last year and can't get out. Either way, that player will play maybe 5-7 minutes, so it's not that big of a deal. That's likely a factor, but I'd rather have my best guys and best chemistry/hot hands going together. Another factor is you've got the matchups at home against the forward lines too...if you want your two best defensive forwards in the top 6, Hossa/Toews, against the Krejci line, you can play it that way as well. Anyone who watches these games will be convinced Chara's out there for 40 minutes a game. It'll be hard to remember shifts where he's not out there.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 12:42 PM) It's not like Stalberg has brought much to the table this postseason. If Q wants a more physical lineup, I think I would prefer Carcillo who has a little hockey still over Bolling. It's not like there are gonna be any fights. I'm more surprised about the top 6, really. But I may even think about playing Mayers at this point, if you are taking Stalberg out. Just due to the experience factor and he'd likely stay out of the box more than Carcillo would. None are great options though.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) what is the black jersey? Injury? No, they'll dress certain lines in certain colors during practice...so you can tell who's on what line. Stalberg's currently on the "5th" line, at least in practice.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:04 AM) Patrick Kane will get another triple-double and win the game in extra innings with a field goal I'll give you credit for at least googling the correct spelling of his name before posting.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 11:53 PM) If Beckham threw that, I'm pretty sure Hawk would have said that In today's game, Beckham would have fired it to 2nd for the force out that didn't exist.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 11:49 PM) Clearly meant to do that, as he wanted to keep the throw low so Reed didn't lose it in the fog. Haha, right.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) You guys are all missing the point...TEBOW SIGNED WITH THE PATRIOTS. Thanks for the update, I won't have to turn on ESPN for at least a week.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) Steve, You seem to be missing the point. The NHL has X fans who are diehard who will find the games, who will watch the games regardless. You then have Y fans, who are not diehards, who may want to watch 1 or 2 games, but arent necessarily going to go searching for the content. It seems ridiculous that the NHL is not trying to at least advise Y fans where they can find NHL playoff games. You know how easy it is for NBC to run a ticker at the bottom or during news to say "If youre looking for the Hawks turn into our sister station NBCS", or do something to let casual fans know "HEY THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN FIND AND MABYE BECOME INTERESTED IN HOCKEY." I own the stupid channel, when the first Hawks game was on it, I had to go on the internet and type "What channel are the Hawks on." I would think that the NHL/NBC would want people to already know where the game is. But hey, Im not a real hockey fan, what do I know? QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) Also, I've watched plenty of NBC programming. Whenever they do their national sports updates, they advise which channel the game is on. During the local AND national news, the ticker does say to find the games on NBCSN. During other events, they promote and discuss the channel. During the French Open on Sunday morning, they discussed the game, the schedule, what channels they would be on, and ran it in the ticker. They did exactly as recommended. And you still found it through Google. The info is out there. The games are available. I'm done defending a smart business move both by the NHL and NBC because of some ignorant folks who refuse to do more than punch in channel 5 on their remote control. Answered perfectly. They actually do what you think they should be doing, Badger. If you really want to look up where games are. NHL.com, Blackhawks site, etc...plenty of places to find it. Heck I'm pretty sure the NBC 5 news even says what channels the games are on.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) Ok...so I'm a pretty big sports fan. I had absolutely no idea that NBC sports existed until today. Why the hell would I? Outside of the NHL (which I fully admit to not follow regularly until the playoffs and sadly I know more then a lot of people about the NHL; I know whose on what teams, whose doing good, etc, i just don't watch the games), they broadcast C conference college basketball and football games and MLS games. Not exactly anything mainstream? And the point isn't about hockey fans knowing its there, it is about if business and as a league you are far less likely to get the casual watching that will draw increased ratings and potentially push up advertising. You knew it existed before today, as you already said you tried to find Detroit/Chicago games. I call bulls*** that you NEVER heard of it. Had you heard of Versus before? Because that's essentially the same channel. The name NBCSN hasn't been around too terribly long, I will give you that. Anyway, what would you like them to do? Wave a magic wand and have everything on ESPN or Fox? We get that they don't have the best TV deal of all the major sports. Considering the circumstances, it's pretty damn good, and will only get better. You said it yourself - where do you expect them to be after 2 lockouts? I guess it's all relative. After watching games in college on OLN, having your own network that makes hockey #1, shows a s***load of games, every playoff game on TV and games on NBC is a dream scenario right now.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:56 PM) Yeah, stupid consumers wanting products to be easily accessible and usable! I hope neither of you guys are in marketing. Yes, SO hard to access!
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) Man die-hard hockey fans sure do melt down if non-die-hard fans wish they could watch the entirety of the SCF without needing to pay for upgraded cable packages. Man non-die-hard fans go f***ing crazy because a sport they haven't watched all year has 2 games in a series not on NBC. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) You've already been told that you have to already have a cable or satellite package to do this. More and more people are "cutting the cord" and dumping cable/satellite. If the NHL thinks the future is in premium-tier sports networks for the fourth-most-popular sport, more power to them. I don't believe most sports fans are doing this.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:52 PM) It's as if there are still people somewhere who channel flip and don't have the capability to search within their cable box or have a magical guide. Also, never, ever google it. Also, good God, you bunch of whiners! You CAN watch this s*** on your PC without authenticating. Whoever went through authentication had the wrong link. For the first time ever, the Stanley Cup Final will be streamed live. So yeah, you can watch the games for free here. And holy f***, all I had to do was Google it. Too much effort, someone from the NHL office has to come to my house and do this for me before I will consider watching their product.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) The reason for the two games to be on the NBC Sports Network is not due to NBC's summer lineup of reruns. It's due to NBC smartly putting money in sports and a network that is going to be very huge very soon. It's as if no one here understands that the NHL and NBC have a partnership. No one gave a F*CK about the NFL Network until it started getting games. Now it's available everywhere. And as of a few years ago, no NHL games were on any OTA network. Things with the NHL and the TV deal have improved greatly since 05, and about as good as you can hope for after 2 lockouts.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) I said I don't care about b****ing to my cable provider. I'm happy with my service. I was for once not b****ing about hockey and i blame the league for putting big games on a channel that isn't important. It is one thing when a games in the 1st round are broadcasted on random networks but once you get past that, you should be broadcasting everything on networks which are widely available and known. Again, alternatives? Sure, it'd be easy for you to flip on espn or espn2 and see every game. But that wasn't an option they turned down. They made one of the best moves they could make at the time. If there are articles that show that they turned down other networks to broadcast these games, I haven't seen them. They also got EVERY playoff game on TV, something that has never happened in the NHL before last year.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:44 PM) Can't do it. I'll be watching hockey! Dude what channel? I can never find the f***ing games.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) No, the only people who should ever watch the Blackhawks are people who watch every single game. Casual fans generate zero revenue for sports teams. Casual fans who watch zero games all year, have no cable, and then b**** about not being able to watch 2 of them, don't exactly generate much revenue for the NHL.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) 15-20% less homes then TNT. You are competing for ratings. Also, I don't have statistics but I bet 98% of people with cable TV have heard of TNT. I'm going to guess 10% of them have heard of a channel called NBC sports. You know how many f***ing channels i have that I don't even know I have. Just cause I'm subscribed doesn't mean I'm ever going to scroll to it. It is just one of those channels in between the ones I watch and the next one I watch. Haha, okay. You know who knows it's there? Hockey fans (and other sports fans).
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) doesn't care about hockey b****es about not getting hockey The NHL has lost a true opportunity, here. LMAO. This has come full circle. Steve, if you could do a Flapship write up on other s*** people can watch on Saturday and Monday night because the NHL f***ing sucks, that'd be great.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:36 PM) Stop f***ing locking out and start actually playing the sport regularly for more then 5 or 6 years and maybe you don't have this problem. Greedy players and owners are the reason they are in this s***ty situation. Yes, the sport has done well because some of the top markets are performing (you have SoCal and Chicago both being huge rating booms for the league in recent years) but you know what could have been if the league and players hadn't royally f***ed up. You had to start over as a league. NHL and the players made this mess. I'm not exactly defending the lockout. I'm coming up with ways to deal with what already happened. Also, LOL at "non-existent channel".
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:33 PM) Except I b****ed about it during the rest of the playoffs too. Its pathetic. Alternatives, please? Upgrade your package, I'm sure you can afford it if you are so concerned with watching hockey. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 04:33 PM) They probably would if the Super Bowl was. But not if the majority of NFL games were on there all year.
