2012-2013 Official NHL thread

SRO tonight. Let's get it done. Want me some Campbell trophy. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:33 PM) These are excellent posts. I can envision no scenario in which the Sox start winning series. The record is going to get very very ugly. The question is ... will Robin want to return next season as the rebuild really gets going. We're going to lose a ton of games the next 5 seasons IMO and Robin isn't that bad a manager as what his record is going to be. I don't think he'll be the manager for very long, due to a combination of the team sucking, him not wanting to coach the team sucking, or him getting sick of managing in general, as I'm not quite sure he wanted to be doing this in the first place.

You're Hahn, who are you looking to trade first?

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:30 PM) You don't trade the players who are performing and then expect to contend in the near future. Plus when you do trade what do you want in return? You don't just tear your team apart out of frustration. Makes no sense. If this was the case, there would never be a trade in MLB. -
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:21 PM) Says the 2012 season. This is, for the most part, that same team, the same team who was in first place for the majority of the season, and save the abysmal late season collapse in those final two weeks, would have won the division with around 90 wins. But they did collapse. The team is worse this year. Dunn is awful, Konerko is awful. 2 of your more important hitters being terrible due to age/decline makes a big difference, it's simply not realistic to expect them to even reach 2012 levels, let alone better than that. Pierzynski is gone, replaced with Flowers, also terrible. There's 1/3 of your lineup. Keppinger's been awful, there's 4. Floyd's done. Peavy's done for 4-6 weeks. There's 2/5 of your rotation. It's not the same team as 2012, which, no one thought was THAT good at any point last year, either.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:17 PM) I hate to think of what the run differential will be in those 19 games against the Tigers. -45 perhaps? You really think we can hold the Tigers to 60ish runs?
-
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:15 PM) I understand that. I also understand that before this streak, we were a .500 ballclub that had not yet played anywhere near as well as it could play, as it played last year when it was in first place for most of the season. Now I'm not delusional - we are not going to catch that Detroit ballclub this year. I'd just rather judge the team in it's entirety outside of this streak when the team is playing in a more normal course of play. Says who? Hawk can keep saying this, but at some point, your team is what it is, not what you think it could be.

Iginla: FML, I picked the Pens over the Bruins. -
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) Points well taken, Fathom, as always. I'm just not willing to rush to any conclusions yet on a team that's going through a bad streak. I know the team has it's shortcomings, but I'd rather evaluate them in a more normalized stretch of the season. We're more than 1/3 way through the season. How much do you need to see? 2/3? It's not mid-April anymore.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:06 PM) The Michigan fan below me has heard some serious stomping and s*** talking in the fall/cup playoffs. Chara at the point on the PP worries me if we make the cup. Haha, that's awesome. Chara in general scares me. This would be a pretty good Final, if the Hawks can advance. Bruins play a good brand of playoff hockey and are pretty deep. -
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:02 PM) Easy to say in the throws of a losing streak, which every team faces eventually. Were you calling for 95 losses before this streak? I don't recall as much. The 1983 team was heading for a similar fate right around this time, and how did that eventually turn out? The point is, the range of the "realm of possibility" remains quite large at this point in the season. Every team almost loses 10 games straight while scoring almost no runs? Not sure about that.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:00 PM) Boston just dominated Pitt defensively. The last two games were awesome but pitt couldnt get anything going towards the net. It too bad the cup will be over by the time you move over here, I wouldnt be the only one screaming like crazy at the TV. Game 3 they had more scoring chances, they just couldn't finish. Today was pretty damn even, didn't have the edge in play like game 3. Still can't believe the Chara save. When Malkin made the stickhandle and waited, I thought no doubt it was in the back of the net. Haha, yeah. At least there wouldn't be noise complaints. If you didn't know a game was on you would think I was being assaulted or something. -

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Do Bruins scare anyone? Absolutely. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 09:53 PM) He gave up some softies early in the series when he was put in, kind of put them in a hole. Certainly he will share in the blame, but team in front of him played like s*** and folded after a couple goals, that's really what'll be remembered. That and not finishing anything in 3 and 4. -
QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 09:41 PM) Hope your prepared to watch even worse baseball....I'm pretty sure most people on here are not prepared for that. It gets worse than losing? Who gives a f***, no one's going to watch this garbage all summer anyway. Do something to try to improve for the future.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 09:23 PM) Vokoun is a horrible playoff goalie, I dont understand why anyone is surprised he sucks. Not exactly his fault they lost. Far, far, far, far from it. Chara literally with the game-saving save with his glove. Holy f*** what a chaotic last minute. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 09:12 PM) Following the antics of the M&M guy sitting behind the plate is the best reason to watch Sox games these days. Brooks needs to me sure he sits there every game. He watches what, 20% of the game?
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) Would that be a bad thing? Well we don't want someone to die, but maybe it'll make him say f*** it, I'm done with this garbage, and he'll yell from his house instead.
-
Bad White Sox baseball might kill Hawk this year.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) Have a talk with her about how you are committed but don't feel it's necessary to make it "official" by getting a ring/going through a ceremony. When she's good and emotional after that talk, whip it out. BAM. Perfect proposal. 60% of the time it works every time?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 02:46 PM) Good luck, dont get nervous, she'll be happy regardless of how it happens.* *Unless you do it at a sporting event on the big screen.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 11:26 AM) Are we talking pre or post Byfuglien massive weight gain and emotional issues? They're both great stories. The biggest thing that came from last night was the pairing of Toews and Kane and the instant revival of KANERRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr. Keep Hoss with his countryman (I think it's time Krush and I both give Handzus props for how much he has stepped up in the playoffs) and enjoy this thing. Bickell - Toews - Kane Sharp - Handzus - Hossa are your top two pairings moving forward. He's had some good games in the playoffs, and some awful ones. He's still slow as f***, but usually he's good defensively and at least somewhat in position and plays a smart game. He's trying his hardest to win a Cup, he knows he's nearing the end of the road. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) People are going to freak out when the Hawks let Bickell sign with someone else in the off season. Just like when they traded Byfuglien. And by "people" you mean "bandwagon" QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) I'm not giving you props for saying he was good in the regular season when he was horrific. Correct, he was awful. He's been better in the playoffs than regular season. It's not like he's been spectacular throughout. My biggest issue with the move was the fact that HE was Stan's move. Fix the f***ing #2 C problem (this will continue into next year, too). Or play Sharp at C (duh) and get another winger, etc. Trying to sell Handzus as a #2 C is still a massive fail. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:02 AM) As a west looper you know why, it's usually because those rooms dont have windows. It was 100% the reason why i didnt buy most of the places I looked at when I moved over here, I NEED walls not "barriers". You're right, that's a big reason, I just still hate it. It's still not going to have a window regardless of finishing the wall. Agreed with walls over barriers.

What an effort tonight. Yeah Crawford gave up an awful one, but both teams had s*** goals, so even up there thankfully. End it Saturday. The goal is to score enough so that Quick is pulled and then Bernier is pulled, Keenan style. So like 9-1. Get it done and end this s***. And now for your stat of the night. Kings were trailing the entire 3rd period, down 2 games to 1. Had to figure out a way to tie it. How many third period shots did they get? 2. As in, one, two. Two. 2. A deuce, if you will. They are f***ing done, put them out of their misery. -

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) Still feel this way? QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) I don't see why he wouldn't based on a few playoff games that have gone the Bruins' way. The Penguins are still the much better team. Sometimes, the much better team loses. Exactly. My reply to your post was 100% accurate. -

QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) There is an article on the Tribunes site about Bryan Bickell: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hocke...,2701539.column (hope the link works). Towards the end of the article I saw this comment and it got me to thinking. "Right now he's concentrating only on getting his name on the (Stanley) Cup because he didn't get it last time.'' When the Hawks won it all in 2010, Bickell played in 16 regular-season and four postseason games but wasn't among the 52 names engraved on the silver chalice." I have no idea what it takes to get your name on the cup, but jeez, a teamate who played in 16 regular season games and 4 playoff games doesn't get his name on the cup? Who are these 52 names on the cup for the Hawks in 2010 and how many of them are front office "nobodies"? Yes, it was the Hawks call to keep him off. They were allowed 52 names. Among them: Coaching and Administrative Staff W. Rockwell Rocky Wirtz (Chairman/Owner/Governor), John McDonough (President), Jay Blunk (Sr. Vice President-Business Operations) Stan Bowman (General Manager), Al MacIassac (Sr. Director-Hockey Administration-Assistant to the President) Kevin Cheveldayoff (Assistant General Manager), William Scotty Bowman^ (Sr. Advisor, Hockey Operations) Dale Tallon (Sr. Advisor, Hockey Operations), Joel Quenneville (Head Coach), Mike Haviland (Assistant Coach) John Torchetti (Assistant Coach), Stephane Waite (Goaltending Coach), Mike Gapski (Athletic Trainer), Troy Parchman (Equipment Manager) Jeff Thomas (Assistant Athletic Trainer), Clint Reif (Assistant Equiment Manager) Pawel Prylinski (Massage Therapist), Jim Heintzelman (Equiment Assistant) Paul Goodman (Strength & Conditioning Coach), Paul Vincent (Skating Coach), Brad Aldrich (Video Coach), Marc Bergevin (Director-Player Personnel) Mark Kelley (Director-Amateur Scouting), Norm Maciver (Director-Player Development), Michael Dumas (Chief Amateur Scout), Ron Anderson (Director-Player Recruitment) Tony Ommen (Director-Team Service), Mark Bernard (General Manager-Minor League Affiliations), Dr. Michael Terry (Head Team Physician)
