Some great College hoops games that you guys forgot in counting down the best: Michigan vs. Seton Hall, '89. Glen Rice wins the championship at the stripe Valpo vs. Miss., '98. Bryce Drew hit that 3 WVU vs. Louisville this year was just as exciting as the Illinois vs. 'zona game. Illinois vs. Michigan in '87.

I've been on these boards for 2 years and I didn't realize how over-sensitive we are when it comes to attendance. Its like someone mentions it and everyone has to duck and hide. Its not a stupid thread, its a legit question...but as history shows we will sell out a few big games on warm nights, and the cub games. s***, drawing flies is what happens when you have a less than stellar owner and a team that hasn't exactly had a history of bringing home pennants. Luckily, sports is cyclical. The cubs drew fewer than 1,000 when that neighborhood was s***ty and the team sucked ass. The yankees drew fewer than 20,000 a game in the late 80's, Despite having over 20 world series trophies and the largest market in North America. Now Wrigley and the Stadium are packed every game. If we ever win consistently we will have consistent crowds. Until then we might as well talk about our s***ty attendance because its conversation.

I have dreamed of going to michigan, and was born and raised a Michigan football fan. I applied in October...6 months later, a letter from the university. I'm on the extended waiting list. This means that I will be attending Rutgers University next fall. Home of the first, and the worst, football team in America. I am not completely disappointed, I get to stay in New Jersey, and my two best friends and my girlfriend are attending Rutgers (I've heard the whole school with friends thing is not a good idea, but f*** it I'm gonna have fun). I obviously hold no grudges against the maize and blue...my dad is still renewing his season tickets. Here is to a great season for the maize and blue, even if I won't be sitting in the student section

After reading this...swinging for the fences with the bases loaded down a run doesn't make you selfish. It is natural human instinct..."we are down...one swing we have a lead with some cushion...I can do this". It isn't selfish IMO, its just a thought that some guys are better at supressing than others.

I just finished reading Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and loathing in Las Vegas and it was extremely entertaining, maybe I'll see the movie now, but it can't match the book. Anyone have any literature they want to recommend? (I'm trying to stay away from sports and political books, I am kind of sick of them.)

Well now that he is in the hospital, I guess "A man needs a maid" ROTFL!!!...oh s***, I suck at jokes.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) So, instead of calling KWF's posts "tactless," I'm supposed to stoop down to his bomb-throwing level and burn a Candaian flag? Wow, what a great idea! People like you apparently don't understand that the First Ammendment wasn't created to excuse rude behavior. Have you ever been to a foreign country? Do did you go out of the way to insult that nation's government while speaking to the citizens? I'll bet you don't, because you'd probably make a lot of enemies. The same logic applies here. Note that my intent isn't to silence KWF. I'm simply exercising my right to free speech, just as he is. Nice to see that I have a bit of support... And you were completely tactless in attacking KWF, and all other young people who criticize the government in any way shape or form. Yes I have been to a foreign country. In fact there was a large protest against the war in Afghanistan while I was in London. And I did criticize the UK while I was there because in the war museum the star spangled banner plays in the Vietnam exhibit which consists of Pictures and movies of bombs over the jungle, U.S. soldiers running for their lives, Cambodians fleeing bombs, and other such images. The way the tragedy of war was shown while the Star spangled banner was playing was very disrespectful to Americans. I mentioned to a British man in the exhibit with me that this is the equivelant to playing "God Save the Queen" in the Northern Ireland exhibit. He just sort of shrugged. People will criticize BigHurt, and in the case of Vietnam...rightly so. KWF does not present his criticisms in a way that is disrespectful and mocking, so why should we be disrespectful to his criticisms?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Your schools choices made me stop and think. I'm kinda pulling these out of the dark recesses of my brain, so if I get them wrong forgive me. Delaware = Blue Hens Rutgers = Scarlet Knights Correct? Haha correct, I think they changed it to the "Fighting blue hens"...much more intimidating lol. Delaware is smaller compared to Rutgers and Michigan (both massive, with over 30,000), but it is a nice campus.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) I have a problem with a foreigner constantly berating our government on a web site based in America, where Americans are the vast majority of posters, and the content is based on a sports team located in America. I have no problem with ciricism from voting, tax-paying Americans. IMO, it's not only our right, but our duty as well, to speak out when we feel that our government is wrong. While I typically listen to foreign criticism of American policy with patience and interest, I feel that never-ending anti-American posts from a foreigner on a site such as this are completely tactless. If you think that makes me a jingoist, I'm sorry you feel that way. Fortunately for me, I don't give a flying f*** what some 20-year-old who is still living off of mommy and daddy and has no idea what the real world is like thinks. IIRC, KWF is not located in our country. And if you think that there is a shortage of policy criticism in this country, you must be living under a rock. "Grrrrr... I'm an angry little college boy! Fight the power!" Grow up. :rolly Are you f***ing kidding me... That was the most absurd post I have ever read...pure f***ing ridiculous. Outsiders can't criticize this country, only conservative, white, male, middle aged, white collar, upper tax bracket citizens can criticize my country! People like you need to get over yourselves, and get over the USA. Yes it is a great place, yes it is the best nation in the world. But it does have some flaws...like everything in this world, it isn't perfect. People will criticize our flaws, if your offended go burn a Canadian flag. Don't get on other people's asses because you are over sensitive and take criticism of American policy personal. And you know what...the vietnam war was one of the biggest embarrassments in this country's history. We make fun of French people, but s***, I hope they are laughing at us for getting routed in Vietnam 10 years after the same thing happened to them. Maybe we should have learned a little more about Vietnam from the French...

Congrats Reddy, best of luck at Loyola! I still haven't chosen a college yet, I was accepted to Rutgers, U of Delaware and U of Missouri, but I haven't heard from my #1 choice, UMich. If I get into Michigan I will probably go there, otherwise Delaware or Rutgers.

I just heard this too on the radio

Alcohol is so dangerous, its a shame that things like this happen. I haven't had any since I got drunk over christmas break. my girlfriend walked into the kitchen at the house we were at just in time to stop me from drinking a bottle of robitusson I had in my hands. God knows what would have happened if she wasn't there to pull it away from me.

Meh...I prefer eggs over easy with bacon cheese pepper and ketchup on a bagel from my local diner. The thought of ketchup with eggs disgusted me until I move to New Jersey...then diners changed my life. Best things to come from NJ diners: 1) Pizza Burger: A hamburger with mozzerella and marinara sauce. The sauce that drips off the burger is excellent for dipping your fries in. 2) Disco fries: Fries covered in lots of gravy (the kind you put on mashed potatoes) and lots of cheese. 3) Pizza Steak: A philly cheesesteak sandwich with marinara covering the steak and mozzerella instead of onions and peppers. While I love all of these...nothing tops a friggin' Beef sandwich from Johnnies in oak park with fries and a lemon ice...s*** that is so f***ing good.

It's been a while since I've been on the boards, this looks like a hot issue to come back to. There was an excellent article in the New York Times this morning about the relationship between Schiavo and the Schindler family. It also deals with how Mr. Schiavo has dealt with his wife's brain damage since day 1. He dedicated himself fully to his wife's healing when it happened. Promising to get her back to full health, moving in with the in-laws, driving Terri to California for experimental treatment, and even taking nursing classes to learn how to care for her. He was described as a hospital administrator's worst nightmare, because he was constantly nagging for better care and was very critical. Moving along, he wins a heft lawsuit against a fertility doctor that should have seen the potassium defficiancy. Arguments between Schiavo and the Schindlers over the money arise. Schindler gets a girlfriend...he brings up Terri's 'wishes' to not be artificially kept alive. I'm sure most of you knew all of this before, but he is such a hard character to judge. I'm sure he wants to move on with his life...but the parents are probably saying "A brain dead Terri is still Terri and that is better than no terri" Taking all this into account...I can not decide how I side in this case. Lesson to be learned: The sooner you get a living will, the better.

I was watching NFL Live on ESPN and their analysts were comparing Leinart to other first round picks in past years and they said coming out of college they would take Leinart over Phillip Rivers, Joey Harrington, and David Carr. He doesn't have unbelievable arm strength, but they all seem to think he has more than enough to get by, and his mechanics are flawless.

Thank you for the birthday wishes everyone. I am sorry for not being around much in the past few months. Between my girlfriend, homework, and college s*** free time with the computer has not been as available as I would like. Of course as I enter the second half of my senior year...time should be coming back on my side. Unfortunately on my b-day I am home with pink eye. Oh well...what can ya do? Looks like there have been a few changes to the site since my last visit, its looking pretty cool. Thanks again guys
