  1. Id say that puts Malcom Smith in the drivers seat for MVP
  2. If this game finishes like this I think it damages Peyton's legacy significantly more than if they didnt even make it to the Super Bowl.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 26, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) Shameless, Homeland, and Sherlock are the big 3 I see missing from your list. I was also gonna say Homeland.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 02:22 PM) I think people have been talking more about the general reaction, especially in the media, versus a specific poster here. Look at that report from deadspin about how "thug" was used 625 times on TV on Monday, more than any other day in at least three years. That includes a day when the Secretary of State called a foreign leader a "thug" during the middle of pretty heavy media coverage of the Syrian civil war. And then look at the three people compared in your post. Sherman was obnoxious in a post-game interview and insulting to an opponent. Incognito intimidated a teammate and hurled racial slurs at him for months. Roethlisberger has very likely raped at least one person. One of those things is not like the other. The only reason I posted those links was because people in this thread said that when the term thug is used towards athletes that it is only used when talking about black athletes. Big Ben and Incognito were brought up specifically, not by me. "You dont hear Big Ben and Incognito being called thugs" *Posts proof that Big Ben and Incgonito have indeed been called thugs* "Ya but what those guys did was way worse than what Sherman did!" My point is that on the surface the word thug is not a racial slur. Do you think of the 625 times that it was said on TV that every time it was used racially? As you said people everywhere have different interpretations of words so is it really fair to just assume that anyone that uses it is racist?
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) yeah understanding how language works is a convenient thing No, its the fact that Incognito was specifically brought up as an example and has the same profession as Sherman, and he was called a "thug" by the Washington Times. Big Ben was also specifically mentioned, Ben Roethlisberger Is a Thug, in this thread. Those are a lot more comparable considering Big Ben and Incognito are both in the NFL. Its unfortunate that peoples first reaction to certain things is to immediately assume racism. Dont get me wrong, I realize there is racism and I have read some of the things said to Sherman via social media and I find it repulsive. However, I dont think its fair to immediately point fingers at someone on this message board and imply theyre racist because they used the term thug. I personally dont have any real issues with Sherman but I certainly can see how people could be annoyed by his antics after the NFC Championship game.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 01:52 PM) John Kerry also called Syrian dictator Assad a "thug." Something often having a racial context doesn't mean it always and exclusively has a racial context. That's convenient.
  7. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 09:35 AM) Deservedly so, my point is that the word thug is used to describe black athletes even if they have no real criminal pasts like Sherman. The thug named Richie Incognito needs to be out of the NFL for a long time, maybe even permanently.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) Frankly, there are ruffians in the NFL. Aaron Hernandez is a ruffian. Not because he's black (because he's not), or because he's Latino (which he is), but because he's a murderer, and - not that there ever is a justifiable reason for murder - the logic behind it is absurd. Agreed. FTFY
  9. What else can you say about those White Sox except, at least theyre not from Canada.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 01:47 AM) Hashtag I jokingly tell everyone my moms new puppy is named Hashtag
  11. Does anyone have bf4 for either next gen console? Havent been able to find a quick match since Christmas.
  12. EA got hacked and a lot of people cant get on to their servers right now.
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 08:36 PM) So you're argument is Romo isn't better than Cutler because neither of them are good in the playoffs? Or because they have similar contracts? I don't understand your role in this conversation at all. And I said my Bear's fan friends who made laughed at me for the Romo signing, not Bears fans on this site. No, Im pointing out the hilarity of you making fun of Bears fans for the Cutler contract when he has a very similar resume and contract to Romo. The fact that you were trying to make this point to your "friends" who dont even post on this site makes it even more ridiculous.
  14. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 07:43 PM) Where has it gotten Cutler? Youre the one who came in here to "make fun of Bears fans"
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 06:22 PM) Right, but one of them puts up much better numbers than the other. Where has that gotten Romo exactly?
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 1, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) Maybe I missed something, but I watched Lone Survivor and American Hustle back-to-back and I'm 100% sure that Lone Survivor was a better picture. I'm just not getting all the love for American Hustle. I don't think I've ever disliked Bradley Cooper or Jennifer Lawrence as much as I did in this picture (yes, I know, they made themselves unlikable, not easy for them to do...great performance, etc.) Amy Adams was solid, and Christian Bale was also quite good, but there's just no way it's a Top 5 picture of the year. Agree completely.
  17. I really liked Lone Survivor. Its nice to get a glimpse into that kind of stuff, especially when its based on true events.

  19. It depends on the situation too. If youre picking one of those weapons for one game or even one season, Im taking Brandon Marshall all day. If it was like youre building a franchise and age comes into play it would probably be Jeffrey or Lacy.
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 12:00 AM) I am going to attempt Out of the Furnace for the 3rd night tonight, but I've got to say, it's pretty boring and it's hard to understand the accents. I'm probably 2/3s of the way through and I don't know a single characters name and just enough about the story to understand the motives. I turned it off about 20 minutes in and have no intention on going back and giving it another shot.
  21. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) Cutler 1-7 vs Packers, 61.5 rating 9 TD to 16 INTs and?
  22. So between the 2 win and youre in NFC games next week it looks like Cutler will be the only Week 1 starter playing lol, unless Rodgers is back.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) You mean in terms of..we'd potentially host a Chi/Dal game in the playoffs? It makes the game tonight meaningless for the Eagles.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:30 PM) Towerfall and Knightmare Tower are supposed to be excellent games Ya I read Towerfall was supposed to be good. I also am looking forward to the emulators and Im glad I can use PS3 controllers with it too.
