  1. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) is it online? I saw it on Baseball Tonight.
  2. I just saw the Phillies in the clubhouse reaction to Wise's catch. Awesome.
  3. I get tired of prospect and non-prospect debates. Obviously some guys are better prospects than others. Some guys aren't really prospects at all. But every guy on each minor league affiliate are "our guys". Because some guy isn't a "prospect" we shouldn't give a flyin' f**k about 'em?
  4. I was at a game in (I think) '83 when Kittle and Fisk both hit rooftop homers. I was in the rightfield upper deck and had the perfect view to see both balls sail over the roof.
  5. I only have one Cub fan friend. I try to not associate with those people.
  6. Kanny pulls it out 3-2. Kannapolis Bottom 9th * Defensive Substitution: Ehire Adrianza replaces James Simmons, batting 6th, playing shortstop. * Johnny Monell remains in the game as the catcher. * Defensive switch from shortstop to second base for Vladimir Frias. * Jon Gilmore grounds out, second baseman Vladimir Frias to first baseman Josh Mazzola. * Kyle Shelton called out on strikes. * Brandon Short walks. * Jared Mitchell singles on a line drive to left fielder Dom Duggan. Brandon Short to 3rd. * Josh Phegley singles on a ground ball to shortstop Ehire Adrianza. Brandon Short scores. Jared Mitchell to 2nd.
  7. Amen. That's all anyone is saying today. We're all loving his catch. That's all.
  8. QUOTE (CSF @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) Montgomery trying to exact revenge for the parent club tonight. B-Ham being no-hit through 5 innings. On the other side, Ely's only given up 2 hits, 2 BB, 4 K's. Wow. Nice pitchers duel going on there.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) Why? We've judged him by his play on the field. Which, apart from today, has been very very bad. Oh. ok. Aside from THE CATCH, he's a worthless good for nothing who has no place in major league baseball. Better?
  10. And Shoemaker, doing his.
  11. Nice article. I remember seeing Buehrle's debut against the Brewers. He mopped up in a Sox rout of the Brewers (Maggs homered twice). I had taken my then-11 yr. old son to the game. We moved out to the right field bleachers for the 9th inning so he could have a closer up look at his favorite player, Maggs. As I watched Buehrle work I remarked to my son, "I like this guy. He works fast and throws strikes". Ahhh, memories.
  12. QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) The ultimate grand slam has never been accomplished in major league baseball history thus far. Then Buehrle is the man to do it.
  13. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 04:14 PM) I heard they were on the top step, cheering for him. Very classy group. I swore I saw someone in the Rays dugout leap up with both arms in the air as the last out was being made.
  14. Have I ever mentioned I love D Wise? Really, that was a nice interview. He was indeed very humble and comes across as being a real nice guy. Perhaps we've been a bit harsh.
  15. Well....if he does a Johnny Vander Meer and throws a no-hitter (or of course a perfect game) his next time out he may win it.
  16. Man o man! This is up there pretty close to winning the World Series.
  17. QUOTE (Cochise @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) Tigers lose Icing on the cake.
  18. two hit shutout for Washburn through 7 and he get's yanked.
  19. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) Since we have a 5 run lead, should we go to the bullpen now and give Mark's arm a rest? Ziiing!
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) It really seems that Skowron had been drinking before he came into the booth, or he's on some kind of medication. Be nice...he's 100 years old.
