  1. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) Moose Skowren on the radio is absolutely brutal. I have no idea what the hell is going on from one moment to the next. I love me some Moose. But yeah, he's always been brutal to listen to.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) 60 pitches through 5 for MB. Damn!
  3. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:25 PM) I like the way that's going, now let's get some runs!! If I may quote myself,,,,that's what I'm talkin' about!!!
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) 6 up 6 down for Tampa's offense. I like the way that's going, now let's get some runs!!
  5. Ozzie's been around the game long enough to know that some people are gonna boo. I wouldn't personally though. In all my years of going to Sox games I've never booed the Sox, but some people will. It's the same thing (kinda) with the Wise-booing situation. Just some people showing their displeasure, unfortunate maybe but it will always happen now and then. Now if Bobby is booed the next time he enters a game that ain't right.
  6. Cheeses H Rice! I went through the whole member list. So...in alphabetical order (some of these hardly ever or never posted): Al Lopez's Ghost Black Betsy Bob Dylan (simply because I'm a huge Dylan fan) Can of Corn (there's also a Can O Corn and a canocorn88) the one and only cheeses h rice Controlled Chaos DukeNukeEm Fear The Priest Flash Tizzle Heads22 LuzinskiRoofShot Metal Gandalf Milkman Delivers ObamaKnowsBest PaintItBlack Pinwheels RattleMeBones Sayitain'tso Shiek Yerbouti Sox It To Em The Holy Bovine
  7. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) Also...time to call up Dex and Jared from A Kanny to WS. Let's see them play with boys their age. Might be a bit premature for Mitchell. It's only been 4 games. I'm not saying he wouldn't succeed because he may very well. I just don't see the point of rushing him this year. He's got multiple hits (2) in each start. Sure is good to see.
  8. Way to go White Sox! Decent job by Torres, so happy about that.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) Richard in the 9th would have been scary. I have no problem with Ozzie going with Jenks, he is getting paid $5.6 million this year to get outs in the 9th. The only criticism I have is why not have someone ready in case Bobby pitched like he had the previous 4 outings? He really should have been yanked after 2 hitters and certainly after he loaded them up, and most definitely after they tied it up. Richard would have been scary in the 9th only because he's Richard and scary is what we're used to. Thanks to double plays, he retired the side in order in the 7th and the 8th. He was dealing. Why not see if he had another inning left? Chances are pretty good he did.
  10. Good luck, Carlos. Go get 'em!! Here's hoping you have a lot of run support whether you need it or not.
  11. QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 10:23 AM) Red Sox got him. Not White. Whew....sigh of relief. I wouldn't want him. Frickin' Boston can have him.
  12. Shoemaker keeps on keepin' on. In 22 games he has hit safely in all 22, 37-88 (.420) overall. He's hitting .300 vs. lefties and .483 vs. righthanders. He's hit .396 at home and .450 on the road. He hit .379 in June's 8 games and .441 so far in 14 July games. He's got 10 doubles and 3 homers, scored 15 and knocked in 16. The only thing he hasn't done is steal bases....and pitch.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 08:12 AM) I also like some of the old player names, like yours. Well, thank you Tex. I do too. It's all about the White Sox and I love White Sox history.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 08:04 AM) Maybe he could have started him off with one batter in the 9th to see if he could get him, and pullled him with a walk or single...but Jenks is SUPPOSEDLY/STATISTICALLY one of the Top 5-10 closers in baseball, so that's what his job is, precisely those situations. Exactly. Call me old-fashioned because I know I am, but that's how it would have been done back in the day.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) Karko's Throat Skin ftw Can't agree on that one. It conjures up a not-pretty picture.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 01:26 AM) Tonight's game is a perfect example of why I feel the closer's role is highly overrated in today's game. Clayton Richard, 116 pitches, 6 baserunners over 8 innings. When you are cruising like that, the extra pitches won't take a toll on your body. This 100 pitch thing and 120 maximum idea is ridiculous. There's absolutely NO science behind pitch count limits...ZERO. The pitch count has been passed off as science for a number of years now, but in reality it means nothing. But...because Richard was approaching 120, and it was a "save situation" ('cause remember, it's not about actually winning, it's about padding a closer's stats) we take Richard out of a game he is completely dominating. What a bunch of crap! Every offense in the league would have been begging for the starter to be removed from that game. When an offense is struggling, they search for ANYTHING to mix things up. Bringing in another pitcher is just the ticket for their revival. It happens all the time. I agree wholeheartedly, 100%.
  17. QUOTE (Cochise @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Mark Buehrle – The Forgotten Ace If you were asked to name the best pitchers in baseball, who would your list include? Over the years, I have been paying attention to a pitcher who I consider a number 1 starter, but few fans or experts ever rank up there with the other big names. That pitcher? Mark Buehrle. What? Why? How? Most importantly, WHO? Simple explanation: He's on the WHITE SOX. He's easy for most to forget about or ignore or not even be aware of. White Sox. Not Red Sox. Not Yankees. Not Cubs. White Sox.
  18. Great Falls won 8-6. They were up 7-0 after 2 innings. Garrett Johnson started: 4.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 2 BB 3 K. Nelson Curry got the W: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K Puls got the Sv: 1 IP, 2 K Jose Vargas: 5 AB, R, 2 H, HR, 3 RBI Kyle Colligan: 3 AB, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB, SB Jeff Tezak: 4 AB, R, H, BB
  19. Damn! Clayton, hell yeah!! Anyone care for a Thome bomb this inning?
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) SEA 1-0 in the 1st Bummer. That lead didn't last long.
  21. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) remember when it was lilli wise and fields a bunch of times Boy the way Glen Miller played Songs that made the hit parade. Guys like us we had it made, Those were the days. And you knew who you were then, Girls were girls and men were men, Mister we could use a man Like Herbert Hoover again. Didn't need no welfare state, Everybody pulled his weight. Gee our old LaSalle ran great. Those were the days.
  22. This guy is on the 40 man roster and yet I never hear anything about him. Who is he? Full Name: Clevelan A. Santeliz Born: 09/01/1986 Birthplace: Valencia, Venezuela Height: 6' 0" Weight: 180 Bats: R Throws: R Signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent on May 19, 2004. Santeliz has toiled in the Sox organization a long time (though he's still only 22) and maybe has come into his own this season. He's certainly enjoying his greatest success. He's come out of the bullpen in 23 games for the Barons: 36.1 IP, 4 ER, 1 HR, 28 BB, 29 SO, 3 W, 0 L, 0.99 ERA, 1.43 WHIP. It seems he has talent but control problems.
