Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
BigEdWalsh replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 11, 2009 -> 11:26 PM) I really am hating how the blackhawks have a huge following now. It's almost like they are the Cubs or something. I had maybe met like 2 blackhawks fans in my life until this year. Now everyone loves hockey. It's great for the true fans, but people that are jumping on the bandwagon make me want to rip my hair out. I know what what you're saying and I agree somewhat. I felt much the same way when the Bulls became popular because of Jordan. Back in the pre-Jordan days when the Bulls sucked me and my dad used to go to games with no ticket bought in advance and end up getting pretty good seats. Sellouts were real rare. Along comes Jordan and you could hardly get a ticket. But it's good for the game and for the franchise. Same way with the Blackhawks. There was little interest in them any more except for the hardcore fan. Me, I was a big fan back in the Hull and Mikita days but lost all interest in them in the early 80's. My interest has been rekindeled this year. -

I haven't been excited or even interested in the Blackhawks in many years. This team is exciting and fun to watch. GO BLACKHAWKS!!! -

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Indeed they were. But we've seen history in this series. 4 OT's with one going double OT and tonight's game going triple OT? Guys from both teams continuously stepping up and hitting big shot after big shot after big shot. No adjectives left to describe what we've witnessed so far. Not to mention that no Bulls team had ever won a game against the Celtics in the playoffs (0-11). I'm really proud of this team. I was not expecting this. -
League 4 ID: 195452 password: soxtalk Our draft is Saturday and we have only 6 teams signed up. I thought a new thread might grab attention.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) I heard the other day from a friend of Corky Miller's that he will be the back-up catcher for the Sox. Should be official shortly. I didn't think it was possible to find a worse hitter than Toby Hall (during his Sox career). I guess you're not old enough to remember Chuck Brinkman.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 10:58 AM) False, but someone I know just found a three year old box of Cheerios in . . . wait a minute . . . The person below me has eaten a questionable food product at three a.m. True, and got food poisoning for being so stupid. The person below me has been to Wrigley Field AND rooted for the Cubs.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) Ain't that you? It MIGHT be.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 11:35 AM) HOLY CRAP Dude. I haven't gotten that much stuff in the past 10 years.... X Mas and B Day combined! I got a couple of great beer glasses, cash and gift cards. Not too bad. In our family, the kids clean up, once you get older, you don't get jack. I can relate. But, I did all right. I got the 2005 World Series DVD, a couple of puzzles, a really nice dream catcher, some candy, a $50 WalMart gift card, a much needed large frying pan and my son and I opened about 20 packs of baseball cards together (a Christmas tradition). Only got 3 Sox, but got a Youkilis jersey card.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Ahem. Merry Widgemas to all of you at Soxtalk. Remember 2005. Only took 3 years but I got the World Series dvd from my son. Yeah, I got teary-eyed.
-
Great job again, Knightni! Nice touch doing the final 3 when you did, so that we could see what they were on Christmas morning.

False. The person below me has had a bad cold or the flu at least once already this winter.

Sorry to hear this. I discovered Famous Monsters of Filmland when I was about 9 or 10 and loved it. R.I.P.

True, but not all that often. The person below me could identify more than five different types of flowers.
-
True....hey, I'm honest. The person below me doesn't like lobster.
-
Isn't that all of us? PS. I watched it last night. The person below me has never seen Cool Hand Luke.

I first shave rather quickly with an electric razor, then shave with a cheap disposable (which, because I'm so cheap, I tend to use over and over until it hardly works at all).

50th anniversary of tragic fire at elemetary school
BigEdWalsh replied to southsider2k5's topic in SLaM
I was a third grader at the time and I remember the next day seeing pictures of some of the kids who died in the paper. It was probably my first realization that kids could die. It was horrifying to think of.
