  1. That map is pretty darn cool. Neat to see where everybody is. I saw this same kind of thing on another site I frequent and always thought it would be neat to see where everyone here is. I'm glad I found this thread.
  2. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) To make it worse, they made us suffer through Liz Phair. :puke Seriously, how do people continue to let her make records?? The guy who did the national anthem was ok, kinda boring, but at least stayed in tune. Lis Phair looked pretty good, but yeah she was godawful. As for waiting to see Little Louie throw out the first pitch, I was extremely disappointed as well. I thought they would at least throw in a short clip of it at some point. It was cool seeing Steff (I think that was her!). It was a great shot that really defined the moment for us oldsters. WTG, Steff!!
  3. I tip my hat to the fans that were there tonight. It was a good loud crowd.
  4. QUOTE(IlliniStro @ Oct 22, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) That is HA larious. It's a nailbiter in IA, Missouri by a nose, kind of a decent margin in IA. Other than the big lead in IL, it seems that most of the U.S. likes Houston. Well, NY is mad that their boys are stars on our team. MA is mad their team got swept, and CA is almost in the same boat. I don't care if the whole country hates them. I heart them anyway. White Sox Nation, indeed!
  5. QUOTE(Spiff @ Oct 22, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) Hey, Spiff. GREAT picture!!!! Thanks for sharing!
  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/index There's a poll on ESPN Sports asking who are you rooting for. They have a map indicating how people in every state have voted. The Sox lead in IL, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana and Delaware (Delaware?!). Hahahaha!! I guess most of the country is a little depressed tonight.
  7. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Oct 22, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Sox pitchers: 113 pitches, 80 for strikes. That’s pretty damn amazing. Contreras 81-56 Cotts 24-16 Jenks 8-8 WAHOOOOOO!!!! Great great game!! I didn't realize that about the strike/ball ratio. That's incredible. What Cotts and Jenks did in the 8th inning was simply amazing. 3 MORE!!!!
  8. I believe.....I believe.......I believe..... http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/ibelieve2.htm
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 07:02 AM) I said *Will* Snb and Krush can back me up, after the 1st Boston game, after the Pods HR, I looked at them and said, "Were going to win this whole thing", and have been saying it ever since. Why the hell not? I have seen every indication that it is our year, so why the hell not? I said numerous times over the course of the season "we're winning this thing this year" or "it's our destiny"...things like that. But, now that the Sox are actually in the World Series I'm still coming to grips with that. It's still hard to believe. I voted for the first one, I'm happy the Sox are in it. That said, I feel very confident that they can win. Houston's pitching is scary but if the Houston fans don't say the same thing about the Sox pitching they're kidding themselves. GO WHITE SOX!!!
  10. This is a really cool thread. Win it for everybody who has ever put on a White Sox uniform, especially those players in the last 88 years. For all the fans who are no longer with us but supported this team through thick and thin. Win it for Al Lopez, Frank Thomas, Louie Aparicio, Billy Pierce and Minnie Minoso.Win it for Charles Comiskey. Win it for US. Above all else win it for yourselves White Sox because you're the best team in baseball.
  11. A really nice post!! Thanks for posting and for being there.
  12. Ok, it's a long wait for game one of OUR World Series, if you hate TV as much as I do (and even if you don't) here's an idea of what you can watch while you wait. It's called Foil-A-Vision. You gotta have enough tin foil to cover your TV screen. You take a sharp object like an icepick or a pencil and you poke holes in the tinfoil spelling out something like GO WHITE SOX!! for example. Then you can decorate the rest of it poking out like firework designs. When you're finished with your artwork you tape the tinfoil over the TV screen. This is really cool viewed in the dark. Hint: I used to do this back in the day when I used to get high. Hey, it beats most of whats on TV. I also used to make these for the kids birthdays spelling out HAPPY BIRTHDAY (insert name)!!! Try it.
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Honestly, if we win it all, I don't think I will have any "hatred" of the Cubs or their fans again. I just want my team to get there first, after that, I don't care what the Cubs and their fans do or say. Heck, as of now even, there is no other team in this town, IMO. I have to disagree. Well, fine for you if you truly feel that way, but I think most of us will still hate the Cubs. The hatred is too deep. If anything, I'll just feel even better that I'm a Sox fan and thankful that I'm not (*shudder*) a Cub fan. The Cubs are a pathetic organization and that whole losing is cute thing is as pathetic as pathetic gets. Incidently, think about it, when the Sox and Cubs play again next June, my guess is you'll hate 'em.
  14. Happy Birthday!! I can't think of a better birthday present than to wake up knowing the White Sox are in the f***ing World Series!!
  15. Oh s***. And to think I never even saw the f***ing show. What a bummer. Now what do I do?
  16. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) You would need another thread for all of the "direct to video/dvd" sequels. There is alot of sequels out there that you have no idea even existed. Right on! Most sequels suck, not to mention remakes.

    QUOTE(Dan @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) hello Sox fans! this is my first post, but ive been a long time lurker. what better time to hop on the bandwagon with the rest of the White Sox Army! im no stranger to posting on sox boards. a big reason why i joined is because i was banned from WSI after thousands of posts and numerous usernames(darn nazi-mod cops!) Im hoping SOXTALK will provide a permenant home to discuss and cheer on our team with my fellow die hard southsiders! SOXTALK.COM.....yes!!! Welcome! From another ex-WSI'er.
  18. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) All in all Cora does a great job as a 3rd base coach in my opinion. Good job Joey. Agreed. He's been slammed a few times and I probably chimed in myself. But Joey, you're OK!!!
  19. QUOTE(downstairs @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 06:28 AM) You don't see Lakers fans going on and on about the Clippers, do ya? Chicago is a White Sox town again! The Cubs-Sox thing is way different. So much has a lot to do with it and there's so much history. I'm sure there are some fans, probably a small minority, who could root for both, but for the vast majority it's an impossibility that'll never happen. Maybe JR doesn't get it, but my guess is in his postion he kinda has to say something like that. Bottom line, we (Cubbie fans and Sox fans) love hating each other. :fthecubs
  20. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 06:08 AM) I remember watching the games on 44 also, on a B&W TV. My Dad's an odd cat though. He has never been a bad Dad, but he was never an overly emotional/lovey/effectionate parent. But in recent years that has started to change. But for the past 10 years or so, the Sox have always been something we both would talk about. Not at length mind you, but here and there. I'm hoping to get tickets tomorrow, and I am hoping to be able to get an extra one for him to go with me to a game. Kid, that'd be VERY cool if you get to go to a game with your dad. The way you descibe him he sounds a lot like my dad who died in '87. My dad was just the same and growing up we rarely even talked. He took me to my first Sox game in '62 when I was 12 (an awesome memory). He was a pharmacist and I worked at his store when I got out of high school. Our shared love for the White Sox (and Bulls) gave us something to talk about. He had a little black 'n white TV set back where he filled prescriptions and if there was a game on we never missed it. Great, great memories. The last time I went to a game with my dad was way back in the Dick Allen era, but I sure remember it well though we still occasionally watched games together on TV right up to his last year. I've taken my own sons to games and there's nothing quite like it. It's SO special. I watched last nights win with both my boys. When it was all over and whooping and hollering subsided I went outside by myself to have a little "talk" with my Dad. Sorry for getting all mushy but this is a special time and it's hard not to reflect on all the past years and what has made us Sox fans.
  21. QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Once I get out of work, I'm gonna party like it's 1959!!! I love that line!
  22. Podzilla walks. I'll take that....C'mon Gooch!!!
