  1. The draft was a blast. I was astounded at how fast it went, having never done an online draft before. It seemed kinda frantic. I had 3 guys that I wanted taken the pick right before me, but I suppose that happened to everyone. Anyway, it was cool.
  2. I was worried that I jinxed the team when in a post game thread after game two I called for a sweep and used this:
  3. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) I saw a terrific documentary last night called Inside Deep Throat. It's about the 1972 porno film which was made for $25,000 and to date has made $600 million. It's a fascinating history lesson on culture and politics with some pretty terrific interviews as well. It's NC-17 for obvious reasons, but don't mistake it for a skin flick because it's not. I of course had heard of the film but had no idea of its impact on the law, society and popular culture. Anyone else see this film? Here I go showing my age again. I saw Deep Throat on the big screen when it came out. Man, those were the days when you could see hardcore porn in a big screen movie theatre.
  4. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) Big Ed Walsh, Were you a big Gary Peters, Joel Horlen Pete Ward fan? Give us some stories bout those guys if ya would. Gee, I don't know if I have any "stories" about any of 'em, but yeah, I was a big fan of each. Probably Peters more than the others. Peters was such a good pitcher and a pretty good strikeout pitcher too. Had it not been for arm trouble there's no telling how good he may have been. But, why he was especially cool was because he was a good hitter too. He pinch hit often and I think I recall him hitting a pinch homer once. One time (at least) he was batting 6th in the order; unheard of for a pitcher but in those days he was one of the Sox better hitters. Horlen was kind of a crafty pitcher but christ he was good. I remember in '63 when he lost a no-hitter in the 9th and I remember well watching his no-hitter against the Tigers in '67. Pete Ward, I remember for his funny looking batting stance. He was another guy whose career suffered due to injury. You could add to that list, Carlos May. Dammit the Sox had some bad luck back in the 60's. My favorite player as a kid was Louie Aparicio. I had a mess of Aparicio baseball cards, photos, statue and of course a "signed" baseball glove. I was 13 when he got traded and I cried. However, Dave Nicholson acquired in the Aparicio trade soon became my new favorite player and as I recall even got Little Louie's #11.
  5. I have many. I wore the same clothes (washed of course!!) for each game of this series.
  6. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Wow is all I can say. El Duque? Amazing. And so many wanted him off the roster in favor of McCarthy. Let's hope Oz and KW continue their roll. Oz looks like the best manager since Casey Stenglerock right now. Amazing baseball, White Sox. Oh, it would be so nice to have a repeat of this in terms of somehow winning the first two games of the next series at the Cell. It guarantees nothing but it sure is big to keep the homefield! Wow....is exactly what I was going to say. I'm almost at a loss for words. I'm 55 years old and I barely remember the '59 Series. I was just a kid and only becoming a fan. I remember the '60 season much better... . This is so f***ing awesome!!!!! I'm the happiest I've ever been as a Sox fan but of course I wanna see him keep movin' on. GO WHITE SOX!!!!
  7. These 2 games have been absolutely AWESOME!!! I'm so proud of this team. I really think they can go get a W in Boston. GO WHITE SOX!!!!!!!
  8. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) He can come, he'll just have to sit in the upper deck . Better yet, in the visitors dugout.
  9. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AiF6...ov=ap&type=lgns One of my favorite past White Sox players died Sunday of a heart attack. I'm really saddened by this, Pat was one of the really good guys.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) "Scotty (Pods) likes to wear rubbers (cleats) so he can dig down deeper in the dirt." by DJ HaHaHa!!! Oh man, I never heard that one...wow.
  11. Great idea, sounds very cool. Ya need some Nancy music too.
  12. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) Very well said. Nothing will ever come between the special father/son sporting events. Damn straight. I lost my dad about 17 years ago. He was a big Sox fan too, as were probably most of our dads. Times like this are kinda bittersweet, cause you wish your dad was here to enjoy it too. But yeah, thinking of him just makes it all the more special. For all the dads!!! GO WHITE SOX!!
  13. WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Hell YEAH!!!!
  14. HELL YEAH JOSE!!! Actually 15-7 is about what I hoped for and expected from Jose. But, early on this season. I thought (as probably did a LOT of us) that it sadly wasn't gonna happen. I remember even disgustingly remarking to my son that they oughta trade him and get ANYTHING for him. Thank you for proving me wrong, Jose. My most sincere apologies, you are the s***!
  15. QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) HUUUUUUUGE WIN!!! Cover story on espn.com right now (waiting to be loaded.) Jose is the s***! And no...don't bust my balls on the sig...first put it up...they won 3 in a row....took it down they lost 2 in a row...so I put it back up (where it's stayin to clinching)! Jose IS the s***!!! Man!! I'm proud of these guys again, it feels GREAT!! WOOOO HOOO!!!!!
  16. Jose is DEALIN'!!! I love that guy.
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) Well, I'll take it any way I can get it. You better know it....that's a BIG run!
