Today is the Day! (3-18 Thread)
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in 2007 Season in Review
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 05:21 PM) If they traded him and got a guy like Lieber, I'd be fine with it. There is no doubt in my mind though that Charlie would outperform Danks and Floyd in the 5th spot in 2007. Considering all of the White Sox overhyped prospects from the late 90's on, you know the prospects as a whole that were ranked #1 and ultimately got KW the farm director, the GM job, the one who wasn't as hyped as all the others, who had the biggest success, was Buerhle, hardly a flamethrower. Haeger has a reasonable chance to have a Wakefield-type career. Are you saying Scott Ruffcorn shouldn't be considered for the 5th starter this year either? The good news is that we now have a plethora of pitching prospects to trade. Yet it would seem somewhat of an admission of failure if we trade again with the Phils to get a starter after we just traded a starter to them. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) How come Haeger doesn't get a fair shot? Knuckleballers are not quite as sexy as a potential lefty stud and a former #1 pick that came in controversial trades. -

The fact that Wakefield is the only knuckleballer in the bigs (that I can think of) and he enjoys success might make the novelty of having a knuckleballer in itself an attractive idea. Aside from his first appearance, he was effective. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) Considering he is 28-11 the past 2 seasons in the minors, and was not too bad in the majors after his initial start (I'm sure nobody ever is nervous their first major league game) its unbelievable to me he's not the frontrunner for this job. It really should be his to lose. Exactly my thought. Even though the knuckleball allegedly does not work as well in AZ, I don't think he is even being considered anymore. -

As long as we are debating the 5th starter, let's throw Charlie Haeger out there again since nobody is running away with the spot. -

QUOTE(striker62704 @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) If Floyd gets the #5 spot his games will take 5 hrs. Wasn't Don Cooper (not to be confused with the Messiah) supposed to work with Floyd on picking up the pace of his game? -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) I really have very little use for Floyd at this point. He has shown me NOTHING to think he is ready to contribute anything to the Chicago White Sox. I really think Gio will be the salvation of the Freddy Deal before Gavin Floyd. -

This may be a good day to get some of our struggling hitters going. Bring in the reserves to face Wells. -

Retirement may be tough for Wells. Perhaps if they do a Live Action Simpsons movie, Wells could play Comic Book Guy. -

Were it not for the $$$$, I am going to suggest Wells may regret playing another year. -

Knowing that the media guide is somewhat ... inaccurate, how much does Wells weigh these days? I am guessing the scale says close to 300. -
What could the Sox get for Mackowiak ?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am willing to bet that we could get Mark Prior or Kerry Wood for Mackowiak. Actually, we could get either for Sean Tracey. -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) actually, if you look up the definitions of fact and opinion, you'll find that what you stated is an opinion. sorry. and I agree anyways Correction Anticipated Fact :If Tracey ever sees the major leagues again, it will not be in a White Sox uniform. LOL, Happy?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Didn't everyone say that after the beanball incident? I just want to make sure any remaining hope is squashed.

Uribe hearing delayed until July
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would prefer to sent Uribe before Judge Judy than that circus of a judicial system in the Dominican. -

How is Seattle at home a "Prime" series?
Greg The Bull Luzinski replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think it has something to do with the comeback/return of Jim Parque during that series. -

Valido is seeing significant action this spring. I would love to see him improve on the offense and climb the ladder a bit to get a season look next spring. -

It is sort of good to see Soxtalk in midseason form. With usual whipping boys like Politte, Cotts, and Garcia gone, the "Uribe can't hit" posts have started and all Pods did was show up and he is getting railed against, LOL. Maybe a poll on the next/new whipping boy would be appropriate. Gavin Floyd? -

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) 100 pct guarantee that Pods will lead off. I would tend to agree unless Pods starts watching too many third strikes go past him. -

At this point, the better debate might not be whether AAAnderson makes the big club, but whether Erstad or Pods will lead off if Pods if not it stealing mode by opening day or not hitting the ball well.
