  1. that guy's the GM for the blue jays now - jp ricciardi. unless he has a new right hand man - which would mean he hasn't been on the job too long
  2. yeah...i hope so. throw strikes jon. throw STRIKES!!!!
  3. right now, Biddle is in the rotation, and I'm looking forward to it. I think he has the coolest/wickedest stuff of our starters, and might even move ahead of Garland by the end of the year.
  4. He's always had a horrible OBP which I'm sure is why Ricciardi doesn't like him plus his power left him last year -this means he's probably batting 8th in our lineup. He's already 28 and isn't getting any better. We haven't traded Carlos Lee, we already have Rowand in CF and Borchard is waiting in the wings. I think this would be a waste of money when we already need a veteran catcher and the ever elusive starting pitcher.
  5. LOL - great minds think alike - look what I posted seconds before you.
  6. 3 things - Millwood is expected to make $10 million in arbitration this season according to mlb.com, and if we're only trading players making the minimum - that's a $9-10 million addition. Scott Boras is his agent. What are the Braves thinking trading him to the Phillies who are now the favorite in the NL East thanks to the Braves?
  7. FALSE MYTH - we would have won in 2001 with a few minor tweaks. Eldred's arm fell off, Baldwin was/is/always will be bad - come on people this guy had two decent months in his whole career and we're acting like we're the Cubs and lost Greg Maddux, Sirotka's shoulder fell off, Parque's shoulder fell off - am I missing anyone? Sorry - it wasn't going to happen with a few minor tweaks. 2000 happened and it was great - but that pitching staff didn't even make it to the end of THAT year.
  8. Molto - I agree with everything you just said - what is it with our fellow Sox fans and our continual complaining. Our park isn't good enough, our GM sucks, parking's bad, bla bla bla.... :puke
  9. I found this on mlb.com in an article about the Cards offseason moves: 'Right-hander Cal Eldred also signed a minor league deal with an non-roster invitation. Eldred, 35, has pitched parts of 11 seasons in the Majors, tallying 74 wins with the Brewers and White Sox. Neither Eldred nor Painter pitched in 2002, as both were recovering from elbow surgery.' Good for him. I hope the guy makes it back.
  10. It just means that it looks like so far we've given up the right guys. So far. Tthe guys who have become something are the guys you just mentioned - and we still have them.
  11. Again, thanks for the recap! Great job! I was taking notes too - my wife called me a loser when she saw me scribbling on a notepad while we were eating dinner and listening to KW. That's when I knew I shouldn't login to type my notes into the board. It was nice to find this already done. Thanks! As to the Score screening calls - I highly doubt it. They are a very listener/caller intensive station. Their own personalities constantly ridicule the Bears' coach and GM shows because even though they are on their own station - they don't have control over the format. Ane even on this show the calls aren't really screened - angry callers get on all the time - it's just that the host - Hub Arkush - rips on the fan for being mad and then softens the question and reasks it. As far as the interview goes - I thought it was great. I left with more confidence in him then I had before - which is probably why he came on. I wish someone had asked him about the Expos and his involvement with that. I guess Lee and Konerko were never part of the Giants deal - probably because they were shedding salary with that move. His statement that the Braves offer 'blew away' his offer confirmed how some of us felt here. Most interesting to me - KW seems VERY reluctant to discuss players involved in deals. He wouldn't even name the Giants or Russ Ortiz. Why does that interest me? The Expos have a 'mystery team' - sounds a lot like KW may still be involved.
  12. yeah - i wonder what he'll divulge about these different rumors. since the giants offer is no longer possible, i wouldn;t think there'd be anything keeping him from telling us. i doubt he'd say anything about Expos talk - unless the Braves get Colon between now and 6:30.
  13. hey - check this out - you can call a phone number (312) area code and listen to the station over the phone - 312-670-7765
  14. The website has a fax number on it and this email address: Scoremail@wxrtwscr.cbs.com (Remember to address who you want that e-mail to go to,...ie. Dan Jiggetts, Dan Bernstein, Mike North) You'd want it to go toJiggets - that's the show he'll be on. If I hear another email address given over the air - I'll let you know.
  15. I don't think you can listen to the Score online. However, I do think there is a way to email questions. The website is www.wscr670am.com. He's actually going to be in the studio, so he might even be on for an hour or so. I'm thinking of calling in with a question - Kenny - when are you going to announce the Colon, Vidro, Barrett for Biddle, Harris, Liefer blockbuster? Thanks. I'll hang up and listen for your answer.
  16. I'd take Valdes. Daal, I don't know. Maybe give him a shot, but the guy would always complain that he wants to be a starter and then go out and be bad. BTW - AM 1000 is reporting that the Sox are about to sign Ritchie to a one year deal. I WANT A PITCHER!!! DAMN BRAVES!!!
  17. it's only a matter of time before the Braves sign Clemens - LOL
  18. dude - this has to mean they're trading someone Maddux, Byrd, Ortiz, Millwood, Hampton, Marquis hit the Atlanta rumor boards - they need a 1B.
  19. LOL - what the hell are they doing? Next thing we're going to hear is Colon and Vazquez to Atlanta. Damn the Braves are going with an 8 man rotation next year! I'm sticking to my guns - I think we're getting a pitcher from Atlanta for Konerko .
  20. 'I will continue to say that would of been like us trading Garland or maybe Wright for Ortiz. Of course I would of probably done Wright for Ortiz, but it still wouldn't really solve the rotation, it would just be an upgrade.' Chisoxfn - you're right: It would have been more like trading Garland & Honel though. Did you see that prospect the Braves gave up. Sub-2 ERA in whatever A league he was in and also rated 3rb best prospect pf the entire league. Trading Garland for Ortiz is treading water and adding Honel would have pissed us all off.
  21. Phil Rogers did NOT say Williams turned that offer down. IT's WAY more likely that Williams MADE that offer and Sabean laughed at him. It's possible Sabean then asked for Konerko - and that one Williams had to think about. I probably would have still done it - but it's definitely one that should have been thought long and hard about. Russ Ortiz walks a TON of hitters - and that could get you murdered in the AL. I agree with Chisoxfn - I'd almost rather have Moss - and I'm not sure why Atlanta made this deal. Of course - Atlanta still needs a first baseman don't they - and San Fran needed to shed salay (which getting Konerko wouldn't do). Maybe - just maybe - Atlanta turns around and sends Ortiz to the Sox for Paulie - hey stranger things have happened. Just call me 'conspiracy theorist'.
  22. Armas is a righty. At least, I'm pretty darn sure he is.
  23. He had shoulder surgery in September. He's out until August I think. According to ESPN - the Cards just signed him.
  24. How about Fabregas? Didn't I read somewhere that he's a free agent.
